A/N: So it's been a little bit since I've updated this(*cough* two years*cough*). Thanks so much to all who reviewed and secretly hoped I would come back and update and reviewed and PMd me hoping to make it so! I've decided to pick back up on this. Too much free time. Well here ya go!
"Ughhhh."
Hinata groaned for the tenth time that day. While the student's no longer remembered her little show of courage a week prior, each microsecond was forever etched in her mind. Of course, none of that could compare to the utter mortification she had felt after Sasuke-sensei's bold showing of the contempt he held for her. Though he hadn't approached her when she was alone, Hinata dreads moments like today's when everyone in the class is reading or working silently and he decides to toy with her.
Hinata quickly finished the in-class essay that had been assigned on the government transitions that occurred during the Meiji Restoration. Having found the material interesting, she spent the majority of the night before doing some outside reading, which had allowed her to bring keen insight and appropriate historical context. Looking over it, she couldn't stop the slight smile that graced her face and admonished herself for being so prideful. She glanced at her beloved and saw that he seemed to be struggling, looking as if he was recalling information; however, there seemed to at least be some words on his paper. Her smile spread, and this time she let it, before turning her head to stare out the window.
'Ahh! Such a nice—'
Hinata suddenly felt eyes on her.
Scanning the room she saw that all of her peers were busily consumed by their essays. This meant that the "attention" was most likely coming from the last place she ever looks. Slowly, she allowed her gaze to meet that of Uchiha-sensei.
The fact that his family's eyes were red only made him look more like the demon that he seemed to be.
He was watching her.
Shamelessly.
Relentlessly.
Watching her.
Surprised, all Hinata could do was stare back, and he boldly met her with her bored gaze, as if examining her. Sporting bedroom eyes that should be outlawed, he slowly licked his lips and allowed his head to rest on his fist, using the index finger of his free hand to mindlessly draw small circles on his desk. His lips lifted into the utmost predatory smirk and Hinata's heart beat accelerated due to the combination of fear of someone noticing and, most prominently, fear of him.
Her personal demon had come out to taunt her.
But something was different today. She didn't know whether it was from writing a fabulous essay or seeing Naruto slowly, but surely, persevering that gave her this new found courage, but it erupted within her and gave her the power to be boldly stupid.
She rolled her eyes.
Now that may seem small and silly, but to Hinata that was big. Even though he was nothing but rude to her, Hinata forbade herself from being rude back to him, after all he was her teacher and that, in itself, commanded respect.
Sasuke's eyes flashed dangerously as he watched his little mouse try and put up some sort of fight. It was adorable, endearing even...
That she thought she was safe simply because they were in a room full of people.
He lifted a single finger and motioned for her to come up to his desk.
Hinata froze.
'No way…'
She quickly turned away and looked at her paper as if she hadn't seen the motion. Surely he would be so bold as to—
"Hyuuga-san."
Hinata's head popped up, along with other random heads that glanced at the teacher—but, of course, not at her—before returning to their task. Hinata gulped, realizing that maybe she should have forgone the eye roll. It just wasn't fair. She rose from her seat and silently made her way to his desk, almost bumping into it as she attempted to look at anything but him. She settled for the planner Haruno-san had unrequitedly, yet lovingly given to him.
"Y-Yes…?"
He spoke in hushed whisper that only she could hear, yet it still managed to rich, dark, and dangerously playful.
"A second ago you rolled your eyes, yet now you can't even look into mine. Did you lose your spine on the walk up here?"
"Did you call me up here simply to ridicule me or do you actually have something to say?"
Her essay was really good.
If Sasuke-sensei was surprised by her show of confidence, he did not show it, keeping the same satisfied smirk on his face as if he had just caught a mouse in a trap.
"Someone's feeling bold?"
"I have a classroom full of people behind me."
"And what happens when you don't?"
'E-Eh?'
"What happens when you're all alone. When you walk home alone, like you normally do each day. After you stop by the bakery two blocks away from your cute little house and eat your cinnamon roll and you go and sit and eat it on the swing at the park in the area. It's usually pretty empty. Or how about after that when you take the short cut through that alley way—which by the way is dangerous, there are scary people out here. Am I going to forget that you were so very rude to me today?"
He leaned forward.
"Or do you think that maybe…I may use that as a chance to paint the walls with your blood using only my fists? What say you, Hi-na-ta?"
Hinata managed to keep her body from shaking but had to clench her fists to keep her hands from shaking as well.
'Really. To threaten me in front of all these people. Just what is this guy!'
"Y-You have some nerve to threaten me like this in front of—"
"In front of all these dumbasses? What? Are you gonna turn around and tell on me? Okay. Go ahead and do it. I fucking dare you, princess."
Keeping her fear at bay, she could still only muster a glare, knowing that if she spoke at that moment her fear would be obvious through her massive stuttering.
Sasuke smirked as he watched the girl try and save face. He couldn't decide which turned him on more, her tears...her terror...her "bravery". What he would give to grab her by her skinny, little neck and slam her into the desk before him.
He would fucking ravish her.
She would cry, scream, beg for him to stop. The thought alone…
He forced himself to focus on the glaring beauty before him.
"See? Silence. You won't do anything. So you better wipe that fucking glare off your face—"
"Or what."
He stopped.
She continued.
"W-What's gonna stop me, right here, right now, from g-glaring at you? Are y-you gonna hit me sensei?G-Go ahead and do it. I dare you."
Sasuke-sensei was clearly surprised at the level to which she was taking her rebellion, and while she would definitely regret it later, she was enjoying not being the frightened girl her sensei pegged her as, even if only for a moment. Her sensei's eyes widened slightly before narrowing murderously. She should've stopped there.
But she didn't.
"See? N-nothing. I m-may not turn around and t-tell the class what you're d-doing. But y-you're not g-gonna do anything either. S-so why don't we b-both stop with the empty thr-threats. Ne? Se-n-sei?"
At that moment the bell rang and Hinata turned on her heel allowing her hair to flip and flutter majestically. She walked to her seat, grabbed her bag, and left the classroom, not sparing her sensei another look.
Eh.
That part was out of fear to be honest—but he didn't know that and that's all that mattered. Cause while she may be a nervous wreck for this later, right now she wasn't a timid, mousy princess.
She was a lioness of a queen.
"Nrnghhhh."
And now she was back to being a nervous wreck, timid, mousy princess.
Who felt like an idiot.
"Goodness," she flailed as she softly banged her head against the side of the wall.
Hinata often spent her free period on the roof, preferring the light warm breeze to the artificial wind that came from the classroom air conditioning units. Sitting with her legs bent beneath her and her hands placed in her lap, she closed her eyes and tried to relax.
"Finally! I found you!"
Hinata's breath froze.
'That voice—'
She quickly opened her eyes and, lo and behold.
Donning a bright smile, her sunny crush stood before.
"N-Naruto," Hinata finally managed to sputter after she somewhat regained control of her breathing.
His red tie was hanging loosely and the first two buttons of the school's crisp white button down were undone, allowing him to expose his tan and well-toned chest. His azure eyes gazed into her opalescent ones.
"Maa, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were hiding from me! Honestly, every time I tried to talk to you it's like you would disappear! Well you have nowhere to run now," he laughed heartily.
Almost delirious with the excitement and shock that her crush had been searching for her, she blushed and looked down at her hands.
"A-Ah! I'm s-sorry," she smiled softly as she nervously fiddled with the tips of her hair.
He didn't respond, and she watched his black dress shoes walk toward her form, stopping just as he was right before her. He dropped down on one knee and gently grabbed her chin, looking into her wide surprised eyes with a small smile.
"You know…No one has ever stuck up for me before in my entire life…well…not unless they've wanted something that is," he laughed off with a wave of his hand.
Hinata's face heated up even more in preparation for the upcoming thank you.
Naruto beamed at her.
"So Hinata…what is it that you want?"
'W-Wha—'
Hinata started slightly as she watched his beautiful face settle into an equally beautiful but now sly grin.
She spluttered.
"E-Eh? I'm not—I don't—"
He laughed.
"Ne, don't be shy Hinata! I mean, I know that you like me. So then…"
Naruto pulled her face closer and his smile turned into a smirk, the light in his eyes switching from a bright sun to that of a roaringly dangerous flame.
"…Could it be that you want me to kiss you, Hinata?"
"W-wh-wha-what?!"
"I said…do you want me to kiss you?"
Hinata was in shock. Gone was the cheerful goofy puppy, and in his place was an intimidatingly sexy fox. This wasn't her Naruto…but more importantly, she didn't want him to think that was the kind of person she was!
"N-No."
Naruto's eyes widened in confusion.
"No?"
"N-No, I don't want you to kiss me."
"Oh…then maybe…"he slid past her, his cheek brushing against her before stopping when his lips were brushing against her ear, "…you want more than a kiss?"
Red faced and on the brink of passing out, Hinata forcefully pushed him back and he let her, once again allowing her to regain her thoughts and a little bit of her personal space.
"I-I don't want anything in return!"
Naruto froze.
"I-I helped you because s-sensei was being a j-jerk, and you d-didn't deserve it! J-Just because someone helps you doesn't mean they want something…I'm just glad to have been able to do something for you," she smiled gently, "I had no ulterior—"
"Finish that sentence and I will beat the shit out of you."
The atmosphere darkened carrying a foreboding sense of danger. Naruto slowly lifted his hand, stretching it out toward her as if testing out his arm muscles. In a flash, his hand was wrapped tightly over her mouth and her head was pressed painfully against the wall she had been casually leaning against. But...he didn't look mad.
No.
He was, again, smiling brightly at her.
"No what? No, ulterior motive? I'm not a complete idiot! I know how the world works. You definitely had a motive," he chuckled.
Hinata frantically shook her head no in denial.
Retrospectively…
That was a bad idea.
If Hinata could go back in time, then she would've made up some ulterior motive and been done with it.
Alas.
She could not.
Naruto threw his head back in laughter and once again met her with a cheerful smile….
Matched with blood curdlingly dangerous eyes.
"Oh? Then I suppose that means you don't know how the world works. And that," the hand covering her mouth tightens, "sorta pisses me off. It kinda makes me want to show you how shitty people can really be."
He suddenly erupts into laughter again, this time wiping tears from his eyes with his free hand.
"Sorry, it's just…that the look of terror in your eyes right now is priceless. Ah! You're crying! Ne, Hinata," he coos, "if I knew you were this cute I would've pay you way more attention. But I promise I will, starting now. You must be happy, right? Since you're in love with me and all!"
He lifts his hand from her mouth and uses it to wipe her tears as she shakes. Hinata can only stare at her crush in shock.
"H-How did y-you kn—"
"Geez, Hinata you really do think I'm stupid! I've been watching you! Ever since you helped me, but didn't approach me afterward, I couldn't keep my curiosity at bay. But, ya know, it's an…odd thing, Hinata," he smirks dangerously.
"…To watch somebody watch you."
Hinata freezes.
He continues.
"Honestly... " he sighs patronizingly, "That really is all you do at school, Hinata! Take notes. Watch me. Take some more notes. Go back to watching me. It's flattering, really."
Embarrassed?
Nah.
Too light.
Mortification.
Yup.
Pure, honest mortification can only describe how Hinata felt hearing all of this spoken so matter-of-factly. She just stared at him, using all her might to keep from letting her jaw hang.
And Naruto just watched her.
Elbow on his knee with his hand propping up his head, he just grinned foxily as if a child excitedly enjoying his new toy.
Watching her writhe in discomfort.
"I think my favorite times would be when you would look at me and blush super-duper hard and then look away. Then you would shake your head as if scolding yourself!"
He cocked his head to the side and smirked with narrowed, leering eyes.
"Ne, Hinata," he leaned forward, his nose brushing against her, " I would've killed to know what you were thinking about in that cute, little head of yours when you did that."
"S-Stop."
'Ugh. I'm so pathetic! Why is that all I can ever say!'
"Why!" he pouted, "I'm giving you my attention you should be happy!"
Tired of being belittled by men that day, Hinata steeled herself and looked up at him with a fiery glare.
"W-Why? Because I love you?"
And the look he shot back at her was enough to melt that steel, quench that fire, and make her want to shrink into herself. His eyes glinted dangerously.
"Yes. Because you love me."
Hinata shook slightly.
Naruto then beamed at her again.
"You're so cute, Hinata!"
He stood up and brushed off his pants while Hinata just sat there, glaring at him miserably. Naruto fake jumped at her and she flinched back— fearing an attack— immediately on guard.
He laughed.
"Too cute!"
"W-Why are you doing this?"
He just stared at her looking truly confused.
"Doing what? I'm just hanging out with the girl I like!"
Why did that still make her heart flutter?
How did this get so freaking messed up?
He walked to the door that lead back into the school and paused before exiting, his back facing her.
"Ne, I really can't wait to get you alone again. Which I will. Very soon. But you know Hinata," he tilted his head back so he could look at her over his shoulder, "if you think I'm scary now," he beamed at her, "then I can't wait to see how you'll react as you get to know me even more."
And with that dark promise, he walked out closing the door behind him.
Well…
So much for relaxing.
