I want to thank you guys so much for the reviews I've gotten. They mean so much to me. Well, here's chapter two!

Chapter Two

The girls gleefully ran out of the car. They dashed around the fence and into the area surrounding the cottage that they were renting yet again. And there it was, just as charming and cheerful as it was last time. The four girl ran inside, giddy with excitement, followed by Mr. Penderwick, Iantha, Ben, and Hound. They all ran upstairs and claimed the same rooms that they had last time. Some things never change. When Skye reached her room, she sighed in happiness and flopped down onto one of the beds. She smiled. She could not wait to see Jeffrey and experience all the fun that this summer had in store for them. She got up again and went downstairs into the living room to meet up with her sisters. She could unpack later. She arrived downstairs and found Jane and Batty waiting there.

"Where's Rosalind?" she asked.

"She wanted to set up a few things," said Jane. "She'll be down soon." Sure enough, within five minutes Rosalind was there.

"Shall we go find Jeffrey?" she asked her sisters.

"Yes!" they all said in excitement. So they left the cottage, intending on knocking on the back door of the house in order to find Jeffrey. However, that ended up not being necessary. Jeffrey was waiting for them right outside of the cottage.

"Hello ladies," he said with a smile.

"Jeffrey!" they all exclaimed. Jane hugged him with gusto, Skye practically attacked him, and Rosalind gave him a more gentle hug. After the older three girls had said hello, Batty went up to him. She smiled at the boy she had come to think of as her older brother.

"Hello Battykins!" said Jeffrey. He picked her up and swung her around. She giggled in delight. He set her down. "How have you all been?" he asked the girls.

"Great," said Rosalind, speaking for all of them. "But we've missed you. How about you?"

"I've missed you all too," he said. "School has been great though. I love learning about music." They all sat down on the grass and listened to Jeffrey talk about his fancy school. It was all quite enthralling. All of a sudden, Jane asked a peculiar question.

"Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Umm, no, I don't," Jeffery said, looking taken aback. Skye felt something unusual when he said this, but she couldn't quite place it. Jane grinned and threw Skye a knowing look. Skye couldn't think of any reason why that comment should have earned her such a look, so glared at Jane in response. They all talked and talked until they began to grow hungry. Checking her watch, Rosalind realised that it was nearly six o'clock.

"Jeffrey," she said. "Would you like to join us for dinner?" Jeffrey grinned.

"I would love to."

There it is! I hope you all enjoyed that. Special thanks to the guest Shadowed Dream and the user Readwriteedit for reviewing. Those reviews mean the world to me. Also, Readwriteedit has some amazing Penderwicks stories of her own, so you should read those too. Thanks so much!
