Chapter 2: Thunder strikes

The electric princess decided to sleep on one of the tree branches in the trees in the school. Seeing as she forgot where her 'Master's' room was, there really was no choice; plus she didn't want to bother anyone. She still has a bit of a hard time believing that she's a servant, or being in another world/dimension/universe, but it didn't matter to her, Touma will find her. She blissfully slept on the branch she was on, and she still didn't see the cloud of iron sand follow her. Whatever the rune did to her, it amplified Mikoto's powers to the point that she has become her own electromagnet.

Louise on the other hand was scared. It was hours since that explosive sound and her familiar was nowhere to be seen. At first she thought Mikoto ran away, but she promised Louise she'd return. She looked for a mage, or Guiche, who was in her sights, to aid her in her search. Guiche, the blonde, pompous mage was flirting with a first-year, not that it mattered to the pinkette (Void) mage.

"Guiche! I need your help." Pleaded the Zero. At first, the blonde boy was shocked. The prideful Zero, asking for help? Guiche took this chance to mock the dead last.

"Oh? And what would the 'Zero' need of me?" He mentally smirked as he gave emphasis on the Zero remark, but surprisingly, Louise didn't look like she cared at the moment. I fact, she didn't even flinch at the insult. To Guiche, this could only be seen as something very important to the mage.

"My familiar is missing, but I think she's just lost." Louise admittedly says to the pompous mage. The response gave Guiche a moment of laughter. Louise just knew where this was going, but she let it continue, just to see if he knows what he'll get.

"I don't think that at all! I think she left you. Just. Like. That." The blonde prioritized the last three words to see if she'd react in any sort of way, but once again, nothing. This was really strange. Why isn't she giving off any reaction? The answer? Louise only cared about Mikoto at the moment. Her first friend besides the princess is missing, so of course she's worried.

"Jokes aside, Guiche. We have to find Mikoto." The pinkette mage yelled.

"Mikoto?" Guiche asked. "What a strange name for a commoner. Then again, a commoner suits you well." At this, Louise became enraged, not because Guiche thought of her as useless, but because of his ignorance. Mikoto had the power to control lightning, an element no mage has ever practiced, and she wasn't even a mage. She took out her wand and used the spell she only knew:

"EXPLOSION!" And boom goes the dynamite. "I should have known you'd say that. I shouldn't have swallowed my pride to ask for help from you." Louise told the crisp blonde, who was being taken care of by the first-year. Louise stormed off only to bump into Tabitha. Louise quickly found hope and asked the bluenette if she could help find the missing familiar. Tabitha nodded while murmuring 'Thunder. Curious.' She ordered her dragon Sylpheed to find the scent of Mikoto. The dragon did so, and it didn't need to fly to find her, and the smell of ozone in the air. The human familiar gave off sparks as she slept of the branch. The sparks even hit the tree, but thankfully, it didn't burst into flames. The Void mage sighed in relief when she saw her familiar sleeping peacefully. Though the iron sand had something else to say. It waved, dented, and expanded as if it were alive, but in reality, it was Mikoto's unconscious doing that made the bundle move like so. Wanting to not disturb her familiar's slumber she left to go sleep in her room.

"Tou…ma." The electric princess mumbled in her sleep. She was definitely having a good dream.

-Next day-

The familiar woke up to the smell of breakfast under her nose. Curious as to what it was, she looked below her branch and saw some type of soup and some bread. Her stomach did the talking, and she surrendered to her organ's desire to eat. Looking at the person who gave the breakfast to her, Mikoto thanked Louise. Of course it'd be Louise.

"Thanks Louise."

"You're welcome, Mikoto." The mage happily replied. The two ate their breakfast with glee among the other familiars. But before Mikoto could finish, she felt something stir. She looked behind her to see a large mass of iron sand morphing into different shapes.

"Gah! Where'd that thing come from?" She asked to nobody in particular. Why was she surprised? She only saw iron sand when she needed it. This iron sand moves, as she did, like a living being.

"I don't know. I saw it with you when you were sleeping, I thought you knew about it." Louise calmly stated. Well from her reaction, she didn't know about it.

"Obviously, I didn't know about it." Mikoto told her summoner. "I control the electricity around me, and I sometimes use that electricity to use it like a magnet at will. That thing came out of nowhere without me calling it out!" She ranted more about her powers, but stopped when a first year passed saw the first-year from the night before looking worried now. Louise took attention to this too. She must be looking for someone. Trying to confirm her suspicion, Mikoto asked the girl after hiding the iron sand in the ground. Louise followed.

"Looking for someone?" The girl nodded. She held a basket that smelled of food. "Gift for someone?" Mikoto pointed at the basket. The young mage nodded again.

"It's for lord Guiche." She said. Guiche… Then it hit her.

"Oh! You mean the pompous, flirt who's trying to peek under your skirt! I know who you're talking about now." The girl's eyebrows raised, and she readily defended Guiche's honor. Why would she do that? Oh right! This is a world where family status was EVERYTHING. Back to the girl.

"Lord Guiche is not like that!" Mikoto dismissed the statement and told her to follow her and Louise to the dining room doors, where Guiche was leaving. The young girl ran to the boy with eagerness in her steps, but the boy in question never heard the oncoming steps.

"Lord Guiche! Here are those cakes you wanted." The boy stiffened at her voice. Behind the boy was another girl, a blonde whose hair looked like drills, obviously mad at the boy. The boy was heading to a dangerous path. There was no denying that at all. Two-timing is never good. NEVER. Except for the main character in a harem story. Somehow every time, the girls are either competing for the guy's heart, or suddenly accept polygamy. Okay…not polygamy, but the concept of having more than one girlfriend is the same.

"Oh? Who's this Guiche?" The words sounded normal, but to a guilty man, they were sprinkled with wrath, anger, fury, or other very passionate emotions. The blonde mage shivered under the deceiving tone. He couldn't afford to lie, but he had to try and save face. Then he got an idea, he could put the blame on Louise's familiar. A Noble is always favored over a commoner in believability of stories.

"I don't know her. Maybe that Familiar of Zero is trying to make me look bad." The smug faced blonde mentally patted himself on the back for such a noble-esque lie. The girl was shocked; she didn't know what to say in the matter. Had a playboy play her that easy? Mikoto was enraged at the accusation. She was so furious that a literal thundercloud hovered over her. The commotion attracted the other students, who wondered what was happening.

"You pointin' fingers now, two-timer?" The lightning crackled louder, and Guiche could hardly hide his scared face. Mikoto was never one to hide her fury; she always let it all out to be shown so that she won't be crossed.

"And you accuse me of cheati–" A slap to the face stopped Guiche's sentence, and the retreating form of the young girl was seen in the distance, most likely to cry her sorrow away. Mikoto got even angrier at seeing the girl cry, resulting in the thundercloud to grow ten times in size.

" It's one thing to accuse me of something GUICHE, but it's another to destroy a young maiden's heart by a two-timing bastard like you!" She yelled for everyone to hear. The thundercloud flashed lighting followed by a boom of thunder. "I'm going to kick your ass to make you see the stupidity and outrageousness of your ways!"

"A-are you challenging me to a duel?"

"You betcha!" The boom of thunder was louder than ever, and it only added ferocity to her words. The curious students now formed a circle of sorts to make a human arena. Gathering all the courage he had, Guiche flicked his rose and a petal burst forth and landed on the grassy field where it summoned his Valkyrie, a form of his magic. The Valkyrie has a Cerulean armor covering the top half of its body. Its form was female if the morphed breastplate is any indication. There were large pauldrons on its shoulders and two wing tips on its helmet. The bottom part of the Valkyrie's attire consisted of a long white skirt with a red trim at the bottom. For its weapon, a silvery spear is firmly held in its right hand. Guiche was worried. A girl with the ability to control lightning, a magic unknown to the world, without a chant; she's sure to be powerful.

"A Valkyrie should be enough for you." Said the pitiful Guiche. He downplays her ability, he lied about two-timing, and falsely accused her. She would give him pain of the highest degree.

"Spread out people! I'm not holding back today…" She growled the last part as if she was a beast. Many of them reluctantly rear back. Louise had confidence Mikoto would win, so she didn't need to worry at all.

The Valkyrie charged at the electric princess, who summoned the iron sand to push the construct away. It was slightly to the left of Guiche; a perfect spot to show how strong she is. Reaching into her pocket, Mikoto grabbed a coin and flipped it up for everyone to see.

"What was that for? You planning on making me lose using a coin?" Guiche taunted to hide his fear. He knew something was up with that action, but what could it be? He would get his answer, and it would show that Louise isn't a Zero anymore. As the coin falls down, Mikoto aimed at the Valkyrie with her thumb under her index finger. She charged the arm with a dangerous amount of electricity and deadly voltage as she waited for her coin to land perfectly into her thumb.

A flick of her thumb came with a flash of light and an explosive sound; the very same sound many heard last night.

The boom of thunder.

The ground tore up the ground as if it was paper, the grass burned into nonexistence, and remnant streaks of blue ran along the path. The coin brought destruction, the Valkyrie slain with no proof of it being existed, and the trail of orange annihilated the wall behind Guiche. Mikoto won this. That was all she needed to beat him, show who's more powerful.

"You done?" Mikoto asked in a bored tone. The question infuriated Guiche, and only served to make him fight, opposite of what Mikoto expected. The blonde stood up with valor as he summoned more Valkyries to the field. "Y'know, I was being merciful, but it seems you want to die." As soon as she said that, her vision became white.

A man, a mage was holding a sword of thunder. He was surrounded by other mages, who had Knights and Golems, large rock monsters, supporting. The mage only had the sword, and a humongous, golden thunderbird behind him.

"Eradicate-"

"Raijin!" Mikoto yelled. The iron sand shifted, and morphed into the shape of a katana. When Mikoto grabbed the handle, her electricity transmuted the sand into the very same blade she saw. The metal is blue, charged with the very same electricity she was expelling. The handle was in the shape of a 'X' with a circle declaring the borders of the letter. Outside the circle, four pointed edges make the shape of a windmill, or a shuriken if one thinks of something more harmful. It hummed due to the electricity. It was dangerous enough as a sword, but it just had to be an elemental.

The surrounded mage charged, slashing at his enemies one by one. Knights were slain, and Golems destroyed. The sword had incredible cutting power to cleanly slice a Golem. As the mage was slashing, he seemed to say, "Copy me."

And Mikoto copied his moves as she slayed the Valkyries. A swift horizontal slash, and one was down. Sliding her right leg, Mikoto held the blade in a battojutsu stance and cleanly cut another. Not ending there, Mikoto turned her back and stabbed the Valkyrie behind her before mercilessly cutting the final Valkyrie standing between her and Guiche. With all defensive walls destroyed, Mikoto pointed the sharp, electrical edge to Guiche's neck.

"Give up yet?" There was silence after that question. The grassy, open courtyard was silent. The wind didn't blow, the numerous students didn't cheer, and the opponent of Mikoto never uttered a word. The only thing making a sound was the hum of electricity on Mikoto's sword. "I'll take that as a yes then?" Mikoto didn't wait for an answer and dismantled her sword into the iron sand that came to form it. "Cross me again, lie about your feelings, or hurt a maiden's heart, you will pay the price, Noble." The electric princess sparked one large bolt of electricity as she growled the word.

However, underneath that rage, Mikoto wondered what that scene was about. Who was that man? Why was a thunderbird behind him? Why did she summon the same weapon the man had? As the questions pile up, the pain on her left hand rises. The rune was reacting, but only now did it stop glowing.

What new power did she posses? Maybe the headmaster can give some clues or answers. Answers would be better, but clues can be helpful. Mikoto could only hope that this doesn't have to do with something only spoken of in legend or something along the lines.

In the other world, Touma and Tsuchimikado stare at the sword that landed in the park. Blue blade, sharp, 'X' guard with four pointed ends; exactly the same design as the sword Mikoto summoned.

"Hey Kami-yan, I think you can hold it." Touma was shocked that his friend would sign his death warrant.

"Are you crazy? That thing could be loading some serious voltage!" The spiky blonde nodded, but pointed to the handle of the magnificent blade. No electricity was enveloping the handle, nor do the sparks reach the handle.

"You're going to need to be surgical in removing that thing. Who knows what could happen to us if we do something wrong." Touma stared with a deadpan look.

"And how would you know if we did something wrong? I'm pretty sure we'd be dead before we knew. And in close proximity, I'm sure I won't be able to stop the lightning from killing me."

"We'll just have to find out now won't we?"

And done for this chapter. Sorry for the long wait. As I told you this is a random idea that popped into my head, so updates will be few and far in between. I'll work on it, but who knows how long till I give up.

So anyways, thanks for reading and review what you think.
