Fane Lupei paced back in forth growling to himself in the room that him and his mate shared. After getting the young injured wolf to their healer Rachel he ordered Evelin and Titus to phase and report to the meeting room in 30 minutes
"Alright enough already wolf-man. Your making me dizzy!"
Fane smirked at her complaint and sighed "I don't know what she was thinking Jacquelyn."
"Maybe she was thinking of the safety of her pack mate." she offered
His felt his wolf relish in the thought of her already having the makings of a good Alpha "But she could have easily been hurt!"
"Slate would have stepped in if it got that far Fane, you know that." Jacque walked up to him and cupped his face in her hands
Fane leaned into her touch, knowing that no matter what happened, he could always rely on his mate. "Come on Luna, we should get to the meeting room before the others."
She blew it, she knew she did big time and it wasn't because her wolf was cowering with how closer she got to the meeting room but it was because her best friend was also remind that she did.
"I can not believe you stood up to Titus!" exclaimed Daria, she was the daughter of Crina and Fae Adam.
"Yes and I'm sure saying that over and over will make her feel better." Thia groaned on Eve's other side, she was the daughter to Decebel and Jennifer of the Serbia pack but she was also Slate's mate so she was basically the big sister Evelin always wanted. "So much of a protector you are."
Evelin rolled her eyes, Daria is the same age as her so it doesn't make sense why her father has asked her to be her guardian like uncle Sorin was to her father.
"Nice of you girls to join us." the deep rumble of her fathers voice had the ability to either make her feel that nothing could ever harm her or make her go belly up
In this case it was to go belly up,
Evelin took a seat at the long table, Daria on her left and Thia on her right with Valeriu behind Thia's chair with his hand on her shoulder. Across from them was her parents, the alphas of the Serbia pack, Costin and Sally, and Crina.
'Go easy on her Fane,' Jacque whispered through their bond.
Fane closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. He opened his eyes and he met Evelin's gaze, she held it for a second before dropping her eyes. "Eve, why did you challenge Titus?" he asked simply
Evelin gulped and thought her words over carefully because one wrong word and it'll make everything go to hell. 'Story of my life,' she thought to herself
"I don't know Alpha.. When I saw Titus slam Caiden down and the blood... I just had to do something." Out of the corner of her eye she saw Slate watching her carefully, despite having one hand on the back of his mates neck, his shoulders were tensed, ready to come to her rescue at any second.
Noticing it as well, Fane turned his attention over to his oldest son, "Slate. Where were you when this happened?"
Slate's faced pale because he knew his answer will not be music to his ears, "I was with her Alpha... I just could not stop her."
"COULD NOT STOP HER?!" Fane rose to his feet, his power leaking out, "You are her brother! You had ever power to stop her! What do you think could've happened to her if you did not reach her in time?"
"STOP!"
The whole room was filled with a tension that you could always touch like it was a real object. All eyes were on Evelin
"Father this is my fault, not his I take full responsibility for my mistake."
Jac smiled at her daughter's courage, happy that she stood up for her brother. 'Let it go Fane,'
Pulling his power in, Fane turned away "You are free to go."
Without another word Eve rushed out the door, her friends and brother in tow behind her.
