I bring to you chapter two, this will entail Addam and Tyrek's journey and arrival to King's Landing.
Chapter 2: The Smith
Addam and his squire were riding across a bridge, one hour's ride before they get to King's Landing.
"Ser, I can smell the shit from here." Addam laughed and turned his head to his squire who scrunched his nose, that made it all that funnier.
"Oh, it can get worse, Tyrek. We've been to King's Landing more than once to know that the shit we smell now is perfume to what we'll smell when we get to the gates." He laughed when Tyrek gave him a disgusted look about the memory.
As a Knight, he can take part in the many tourneys around the Seven Kingdoms. He does so to gain coin to eat well and sleep warm, he doesn't have a family name or castle to return to when he is done doing his duty to the Realm.
Other Knights participate for glory, to satisfy their egos and use their victories to belittle the aspiring men who wish to become what they are.
Knights should aspire to protect the people, to keep the peace and laws of the country. Even in the North, the Knights that are there do their best to keep the King's peace. Not that the King kept his own peace, corruption is all over the capital, the Lannister has since taken over after the last Hands death.
Tyrek Lannister is his squire. Tygett Lannister was his mentor. He cares little for any other Lannister, the rest are willing to use their titles and gold to get and take what they want, uncaring to how their actions affect anyone else.
Robert's Reign. He was in the Reach at the time during the Rebellion, the Battle of the Trident, the Siege of Storm's End, he was there after the Sack, though.
He heard about what transpired, what the Mountain had done to Princess Rhaenys, Prince Aegon, and Princess Elia. He saw the bodies of innocent women and children that lay dead in the streets, those that couldn't get to their homes in time to prepare for the eventual attack on the capital.
The Mountain. He's held a hatred for the False Knight for that long, and now, he has the chance to avenge the innocent Prince, Princess, and the wife.
"Ser Addam, might I ask you a question?" He turned back to Tyrek once more, "I have cousins in the Red Keep, we could stay there for the night instead of the inn." His suggestion was a good one but one he won't take up, he feels sorry for the lad.
"The inns have better food, better beds, and much better company." He told his squire who reluctantly agreed, they continued riding in silence until he heard a rider coming up from the group and turned to see their guest, an aging guard called Old Fin.
"Ser, might we be getting there at better speed? We must hurry." That is true but from the looks of the horses that Lord Piper gave to them, they wouldn't last the trot.
Not that he could blame them, a war is coming to the Riverlands and he can tell that the Piper's of Pinkmaiden will be in need of all their strong steeds.
"How about me and Tyrek ride ahead, you lot can catch up." He told the older warrior, he seemed unsure about agreeing to that, "We best keep riding, maybe a song to pass the time between here and King's Landing." He added and the others agreed to that more than the other option, so the entire group talked about what song to sing.
They chose the Bear and the Maiden Fair, a good song to pass the hour.
The song ended when they came upon the city, the sounds of people could be heard two miles away.
King's Landing. The city was nothing more than some land and trees until Aegon landed with his army, the Aegonfort was built not long after and started gathering people. When the War of Conquest was over, the small town had walls built around it, then cobblestone streets, the Aegonfort was later replaced with what would be called the Red Keep, finished by Aegon's son, Maegor the Cruel.
Now it is without a doubt the largest city in Westeros, housing more than 100,000 people. The King could muster a great army from his very own city, that is if there comes a King who has the intelligence to see what protection he 'could' have.
"Come on, we need to hurry." He called out and the company continued on, passing the Gate of the Gods and taking Cobbler's Square all the way to the Red Keep where the castle guards stopped them. "We have come to request an audience of the King, may we pass?" He asked one of the guardsmen.
"Sorry to disappoint you, Ser, the King is out on a hunt in the Kingswood." He silently cursed but would not show it, there is one other with the authority here in the Red Keep.
"Then send for the Hand of the King, send for Lord Eddard Stark."
The word came and he and his company were escorted to the throne room, there were many people in there already and sitting on the Iron Throne was Lord Stark.
He has never truly had the pleasure of meeting the famed Quiet Wolf, a war hero of the Rebellion who raised the siege at Storm's End and was one of the few to attend the battle of Pyke. His eyes noticed the cane that the man was holding, had something happened in the capital here and between the chaos in the Riverlands? He sighed, approaching the throne while the steward announced their names.
"Introducing Ser Addam, Lord Tyrek Lannister, and villagers and castle guardsmen from Pinkmaiden." He remembered how the steward was confused as to what was his surname, he prefers not to name it because it is of no concern, he is a hedge knight, he is lowborn and not needed in this place of Lords, Ladies, Kings, and Queens.
"Seven blessings to you, Lord Stark, I hope it is so." He addressed the Hand of the King who nodded.
"You asked for an audience with the King, I hope I am a suitable replacement for the time being." Lord Stark was an honorable man, albeit a little blunt in his words.
"I have come on behalf of the Riverlands and its people, Lord Stark." He started by taking a single step, "Through an investigation into a raid on a village in the lands of Pinkmaiden, I have found out that Ser Gregor Clegane and some few hundred has begun a secret attack on the Riverlands." This caused a sort of outroar and surprise in the room, the old Grand Maester was flabbergasted about the accusation.
"Why would Ser Gregor do this, he is an anointed knight- " He cut the Maester off, knowing that he was going to defend the large man.
"It is true, the father of a raped daughter confirmed it, a large man wearing the three hounds on his colors was seen." He spoke, the many people that came with him put in their own evidence of the crime.
Lord Stark was speaking to his fellow counselors, the old man was blubbering a sentence until the slimmer man spoke out, "That would be as brazen as attacking the Hand of the King in the streets of the capital." So the Hand was attacked, the question remains is who had attempted such a thing.
Lord Eddard seemed conflicted about what to do, then he spoke and what he said made some gasp, others cheer but he secretly grinned.
"I cannot restore your homes, or bring your dead to life but I can give you justice, in the name of our King." Eddard Stark rose from the throne and continued, "Lord Beric Dondarrion," The Lightning Lord stepped forth, "You shall have the command, assemble 100 men and ride for Ser Gregor's Keep." He took the chance and stepped forward when Beric responded to the Hand of the King.
"Lord Hand, I beg the honor of joining Lord Dondarrion on his task." He requested and the Hand looked at him for quite a moment before responding.
"... Very well, Ser Addam." He smiled and stood proudly, "In the name of Robert of the House Baratheon, King of the Andals, Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. I charge you to bring justice to the false knight, Gregor Clegane and all those who shared in his crimes, I denounce him and attaint him. I strip him of all ranks, and titles, of all lands and holdings, and sentence him to death."
The Grand Maester seemed to disagree and Lord Stark didn't seem compelled to recant, "Grand Maester Pycelle, send a raven to Casterly Rock. Inform Tywin Lannister that he has been summoned to court to answer the crimes of his bannermen, he will arrive within the fortnight or be branded an enemy to the crown and a traitor to the Realm." He followed the Lightning Lord and helped him pick out some men, in the middle of readying his horse, he turned to his squire who is Tywin's nephew.
"Just say the word, lad, and I will let you stay here so you don't feel conflicted." He told Tyrek who looked thoughtful for a while before continuing to ready his horse.
"I am your squire, Ser, my place is at your side."
Alright then, it will be a long journey for them both... The hunt has begun.
AN: A long-awaited chapter two, I hope you all enjoyed it as I enjoyed writing it. Actually, it feels quite good to follow some canon rather than working brainpower to making power shifting changes to the storylines.
DaddyChad, Slightly based but he's his own character and less whore-ish than him.
Silver Crow, Yeah but the Game of Thrones is a grey show, good n bad go side by side. His righteousness came from his faith and his training by Tygett. His history with the Lions will unfold a bit more as we go on. Good names for the horse, I will consider them heavily.
TheOnlyKing, Thanks for being interested, hope you continue reading.
