Hi Guys! This is my first fanfiction EVER and I'm super excited that I have joined fanfiction. I'm going to do a little one shot, just to get the feel of writing. I've never done this before so some constructive criticism is appreciated. I am basing my characters off of the 2012 movie.

Disclaimer: I do not own Les Miserables or any of its characters.

She was gone.

His sister was gone. He was still trying to process the fact that the one person in his family that actually cared about him was dead.

He watched as Marius placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, which was going whiter by the second. He couldn't understand how she had sacrificed her life for him. Gavroche felt anger bubble up inside of him. If Marius hadn't been so damn blindthen
maybe Eponine would have lived. If only he had seen that she loved him.

But he didn't.

Gavroche thought back to when they were younger, or rather when hewas younger. Eponine had always been ahead of her years. She was the one who fed him, clothed him and made sure their father never lay a hand on him by taking his beatings.

Sometimes, especially during the winter when food was more scarce than usual in the Thenardier household, Eponine would split her share of food in half and give it to him, ensuring that her little brother didn't starve. She would even give him her blanket
so that he wouldn't get too cold.

One winter, when Gavroche was fourand Eponine was ten, she caught the flu. She survived merely on her pure will to survive, for she received no medical help and still went out and pickpocketed, even in the freezing cold.

He had ran away in the new year. He thought it would help Eponine. He thought she would be better fed and that maybe father wouldn't beat her. He would see her around Paris anyways, and she would be able to take care of herself, and he would learn.
But the beatings and the forced thievery continued. And a lot of the time when he saw her she would be tangled up in one of fathers cliché robberies.

Or she would be pining after Marius.

And now she was gone. None of that mattered anymore. In the end, she was just a poor girl with a bad namewho never got a chance in anything.

As they began to carry his sisters lifeless body away, Gavroche'sbody shook from all the sobs erupting in his body. He followed Eponine's 'hearse' into the tavern and waited until they had left to approach her. She was now a ghostly white, and her
long brown hair was matted from a mixture of sweat and blood.

He eventually lost his composure and broke down, burying his head in the crook of Eponine's neck. He wished more than anything that she would rub his back in soothing, circular motions and would run her fingers through his hair while whispering comforting
thoughts into his ear.

At that very moment, a part of Gavroche Thenardier died inside.

He would soon suffer the same fate as his sister, and they would be truly happy.

Together.

Forever.
