Notes- (you might actually want to read if you normally don't)

Not really in any set universe, but Sonic is sixteen, Knuckles seventeen, Tails nine, so on and so forth. There's a bit of video game, Sonic the Comic, and Sonic X, all thrown in a beautiful mixing pot. The characters got back from the Metarex battle three months ago. Chris doesn't exist in this world, and the world is based off the games. So both humans and mobians live together on Mobius. The Metarex battle was seven months after Adventure 2. Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog never happened, but all the other games (minus Sonic Forces) happened in those seven months between Adventure 2 and the Metarex battle. This is important so we can have all of Sonic's Super forms here. Shadow's been gone for ten months total on Mobius, but because he's all the way across space, time has moved differently for him. To him, it's only been about ten days since the Metarex battle. This is important as well.

I fixed the summary. Yes, you're reading it correct. There's going to be SonicxDark and SonicxSuper in here, along with a few other forms. There's also going to be slight ShadowxDark, so get ready for the love. Sonic's super forms are a part of him, but they are their own beings. It'll be explained more in the story. Also, I'm trying something new. I'm marking key things with asterixis (***) to leave footnotes at the end of each chapter. Bold words hint at something important (Totally didn't steal the idea from LoZ. Don't sue me, Nintendo. You're not the only game company that does it.).

Alright, that's the longest note you'll ever have to read from me. I just want to clarify things before questions start arising. Let's roll...

Chapter One

"Hey~"

He looks up and smiles, opening his arms to embrace the golden hedgehog, who pulls him in tightly, giggling quietly.

"I love when you visit us~" the golden hedgehog pulled away, red eyes bright, his yellow pelt sparkling with positive energy. The hedgehog he was addressing pulls back and chuckles, patting the golden one on the head.

"I'm trying to visit more. I really owe you guys a lot, and…" he trails off, looking down sheepishly. The golden hedgehog beams and pulls him into another close hug.

"You don't owe us anything, Sonic. We're here for you and we loovvve you~"

The cobalt blue hedgehog rolls his eyes but smiles, his cheeks tinted a light pink color. "Thanks, Super. I...did come for another reason, though."

The golden hedgehog's smile fades, and he frowns, as if knowing what that reason was already. "It's about the transformation, I know."

Sonic sighs, running his hands through his quills. "It wasn't you, was it?"

Super shakes his head, looking down. "No, Sonic, it wasn't. You didn't have enough energy between you and the emeralds.Y ou were trying to obtain a positive form but you were so unbalanced. If you had at least had the silver emerald* you would have been safe, but you didn't."

"I didn't even think about the emerald's color," Sonic groans, plopping down on the grass the two stood on, crossing his legs and looking down. "I was desperate."

"I told you the silver emerald is the most important emerald, Sonic, and to never forget that," Super chides gently, sitting down next to the blue hero. He reaches up a hand and runs his fingers through the blue quills, petting him to caress the side of his muzzle and hold it. "We understand, and we're not mad at you...I don't think we could ever be mad at you...but you did something that created a being that shouldn't exist, and now we don't know what's going to happen."

Sonic turns his head away, as if he felt so guilty he couldn't even meet the deity's eyes. "Ivo would have let those robots kill all of those people… He's losing it more and more, every minute of every day… I didn't know what else to do… I needed help…"

"Then why didn't you call me?"

Both hedgehogs turn around, and Sonic's ears flatten at the sight of the midnight blue hedgehog standing behind them, his arms crossed and dark green eyes staring, looking betrayed at him.

"Dark…" Super starts, almost sounding as if he was warning him from starting something.

Sonic sighs and turns his body around to face the darker form, but avoids looking at him. "...I can't…" his voice his quiet and shaky, and Super gives Dark a pouting glare.

Dark shakes his head and walks to kneel in front of Sonic on one knee, grabbing the hedgehog's chin and forcing him to meet his eyes. Super tenses instinctively, even though he knew the dark hedgehog would never hurt their master.

"The only way a transformation can work is if we work together in sync," Dark says, his tone low but kind. "I am all of you, Sonic. Super and the other positive forms are here, but they are not truly you. They belong to your other half. Us dark forms are what you really are. You cannot keep fighting us."

"I don't mean to…" Sonic sounds like a child that knows he did wrong. "I'm...I'm sorry…"

"Dark…" Super tries again, quirking an ear back in slight annoyance. He then continues on in a language Sonic can't understand fully yet, and without breaking eye contact Dark responds in the same strange language. Super goes quiet with his response and looks upset, and Dark slowly pulls his eyes from Sonic's to Super's, saying something else in that same odd yet beautiful language.

With a huff, Super looks away, shrugging. "I guess...Ela ohilia**…"

Sonic frowns at the words he actually knew.

'Do what you must…'

He wasn't fluent in the Chaos Language, but he was a fast learner, and Hyper's been teaching him in secret behind the other's backs. He's heard Super say the same thing to Dark before, back when Dark decided to forcefully take over his body to destroy two robots that had hurt two of his friends. He was pissed, Dark had distanced himself, and it was a mess. The fact that Super was telling Dark to do what he needed to...again...worried him greatly, and that sudden stress must have been noticed by Dark, because he gave him a surprised look.

"You understood him?"

"I'm not stupid, or ignorant," Sonic frowned at him, and both Dark and Super flinched as if they had been hurt by his words.

"I would never assume such a thing," Dark frowned deeply at him, running his thumb across the fawn muzzle he was still holding onto. "I only do what is best for you, even if it means hiding things from you. This was my job that was assigned when you separated from your other half. You gave me my orders, and even though you don't remember that life, I vowed to follow them no matter what you say to me now."

"I hate my god-self," Sonic muttered, eyelids falling halfway. Dark gives him a small, warm smile.

"You are also living in the body of a child, my dear master. You are not responsible enough for what goes on outside of it."

Sonic puffs his cheeks and sticks his tongue out at the deity, glaring at him with blazing green eyes. "I'm not a child, and I'm responsible for protecting the people of Mobius."

"The latter may be true, but your 'god-self' would have agreed with me," Dark winks at him, and Sonic's pout deepens.

"Has anything happened yet?" Super asks the dark deity that let go of Sonic's muzzle, pulling the cobalt hedgehog up to sit in his lap. "Have you seen the being yet?"

Sonic is silently fighting the hold Dark has on him as the midnight blue hedgehog answers, hugging their master to his chest and pressing a kiss on the side of his muzzle, causing him to blush. "No, nothing yet. Everything seems fine. Either the being knows it shouldn't be here and is letting us alone and wants to be let alone, or it's buying its time. I have everyone on high alert."

Sonic gives up and rests his head on the dark being's shoulder, closing his eyes and relaxing as he's pet between his ears.

"What do you think it can do?" Super smiles briefly at the sight, feeling only slightly jealous -he wanted to hold Sonic too...

"I don't know yet. Master told us before that if something like this happens, anything can result from it and we have to be careful. For all we know this was supposed to happen. We weren't expecting Excalibur, but he turned out to be one of us," Dark says as he looks down at the hedgehog in his arms, earning a small glare from him.

"Stop speaking about me and my past self as if we're still the same person, it's weird," Sonic says glumly, causing Super to smirk and Dark to snicker.

"You are the same person, love, just with different memories," Dark presses another kiss on the hedgehog, this time on his left temple. Sonic huffs and turns his head away, use to this by now.

The golden hedgehog watching puts his chin in his hands and smiles fondly. "So edgy, yet so caring you are, dark-boy."

The negative energy being wraps his arms possessively around Sonic, resting his own chin on the hero's head. "I care for him as much as you do," Dark mutters, rolling his eyes, as if Super was pointing out a blatant obvious fact.

The golden hedgehog smiles and scoots closer to the two, poking Sonic's nose with a giggle, watching the cobalt hog wrinkle his face in annoyance. "Of course~!"

"Stop," Sonic tsks, pulling back. "I just want you guys to let me know what happens, okay? Don't hide anything from me with this."

Dark and Super exchange looks, the former gritting his teeth and the other biting the inside of his cheek. Sonic can tell by the way their ears flicked back and the glint in their eyes that they were already hiding something.

"You guys have to promise," Sonic scowls at them. "I won't forgive you if you don't."

Dark sighs and grabs the back of Sonic's head, making the hero let out a small yelp as his quills are tugged, forcing him to look up at the dark being.

"On one condition, love," Dark says, making Sonic swallow nervously.

"Oh, for the love of Gaia," the hero mumbles. "What?"

"You will go through a transformation with me," his tone was demanding as he said it, making Sonic sweat nervously. "It doesn't have to be until you absolutely need one, but until you do you will not be able to go through a transformation with Super, ever."

"Aww, why you gotta punish both of us?" Super whines, throwing himself back to lay stretched out on the ground. "So not faaaiiirrr…."

Dark ignores him as he watches Sonic's pretty green eyes widen, before narrowing as his mouth pulled into a thin line. "You won't hide any secrets from me?"

"Not a single one."

Sonic is quiet, the two's eyes locked, each trying to decipher the other to see if and who's lying. Ultimately, Sonic gives and sighs, closing his eyes.

"Fine. You break your promise and I'm not talking to you for a whole year."

Dark raises a brow, frowning. "Are you serious?"

"Yes," Sonic opens his eyes to glare at him. "I'm dead serious. I won't talk to you for a whole year...and…" he pauses, trying to think of something else that'll upset the dark deity, before his eyes land on Super. "...and I'll let Super do whatever he wants to me for a whole day," he adds, blushing darkly.

Super suddenly sits up, excitement lighting up in his eyes, and Dark stares incredulously at their master with so much shock on his face he almost looked like a different person.

"You have got to be joking…" his voice is quiet, and Sonic shrugs, trying to keep his cool while inwardly panicking.

"You brought him into this, so if there's a chance he can be punished, why not a chance he could be rewarded? Also, I don't want you tying him into this and this being a two-against-one. Isn't fair."

"Sly, angelic devil," Dark sighs, resting his forehead against Sonic's, while Super sat with stars in his eyes. "I hardly get to touch you…"

Sonic blushes and tries to look away, failing as Dark's grip tightened on his quills. Before he can yell at him, Dark's lips are pressed against his and he's jolting in surprise, Dark Chaos Energy enveloping him and coursing through his body, all the while his lips are tingling with a pleasurable fire that made him close his eyes, relax, and let out an involuntary moan.

Super gets up immediately and tries to separate the two, sounding like an upset dog in between his two owners. "Hey, cut it out! You've been hogging him this whole time!" his cries were unheard as Dark put a hand in his face and pushed him away, leaning forward and deepening the kiss, bringing out another questionable sound from the blue hero's throat. Super cried out, jealousy causing his golden aura to burst like flames.

"I'm gonna tell Hyper!"

Seven weeks later…

There was no word from Dark and no matter what he did, he couldn't enter the Special Zone where all his super forms lived.*** Someone was blocking him from going there.

Super had said that everything was fine, last time they talked. Said Dark took care of the being and that they were going to cut ties between themselves and Sonic for a little while, just to stay safe. They didn't say how long, or that he'd have absolutely no information on what was going on in the meantime, and he had a feeling Dark had broken his promise and something was happening.

He needed to talk to them soon, though. The Chaos Emeralds were dead to the world, no color in them, just grey rocks that seemed useless. He himself, Tails, and Knuckles all studied the emeralds, trying to figure out why they were like that, but no one could come up with an answer, and in only a few weeks time since his super forms went quiet, he started to feel sick. Very sick.

He had a hunch it was because of the six, dead Chaos Emeralds he left in Tails's lab. Even finding the seventh emerald, the silver one, did nothing to help the emeralds at all. The silver one was in great condition, glowing brightly and its power strong. Sonic carried it on him at all times, knowing he had to better protect it.

Test after test, experiment after experiment, nothing they did would revive the other emeralds. He felt nauseous every time he looked at them, shuddering inwardly and quickly looking away, as if he weren't able to even accept that they were like that.

He could also tell Tails was worried about him. His sickness was something he was having a hard time hiding, and it didn't help he was having nightmares every night now. He couldn't remember what those nightmares were about, but he's woken up many nights in a row, Tails shaking him awake, saying he was screaming in his sleep.

...but Super said it was fine. He could trust Super, right? Not really, since he made that wager with Dark. He thought threatening Dark would get him to keep him up to date, but apparently that wasn't working.

'Idiots,' he thought glumly.

He pulls his blankets back from his bed and crawls in, pulling them over his shoulder and laying on his side with a sigh. He was exhausted all the time now. Barely any energy for a long run. Maybe if he fixed the emeralds, he would get back to normal. After all, he did draw on Chaos Energy all around him, and that energy mostly came from the emeralds. It was probably just that, he tries to tell himself. That was the only explanation that seemed reasonable. It would be easier to tell if he wasn't the only Chaos Born around here.

If Shadow were still around, he'd be able to tell…

That thought makes him grimace and he closes his eyes, his brows knitting together. He almost made it through the day without thinking about him. Every single day since they've come back from the Metarex, he's thought of Shadow. Thought of how he's gone, again.

Thought of how it's all his fault.

No, Super had told him it was Shadow's own decision, and just like Cosmo, gave up his life on his own terms. It wasn't his fault…

...but he should have tried to save him.

Both Cosmo and Shadow were gone because he couldn't save them. He wasn't good enough to. Wasn't fast or strong enough to. Just like the people that were injured, that couldn't escape when Eggman attacked the city two months ago. He seemed to be failing everyone around him, and now Tails was constantly worried about him.

He needed to figure out how to fix the emeralds and himself, soon, before he made another mistake that someone else paid for.

He felt stupid, using the six Chaos Emeralds to attempt a transformation. The six emeralds without the stabilization emerald, the silver one, were highly unstable on their own. They were unbalanced. Because the person using the emeralds counted as the 'eighth' emerald, they were equal only at seven. When there were only six, the total amount of energies would only be seven, causing an unbalanced reaction. Hell, it would have been better to just use five emeralds. That way it equaled out to six.

He felt dumb, and guilty, and no matter what anyone told him it couldn't change how he felt.

His hand feels for something under his pillow, grabbing the golden ring and rubbing his gloveless fingers across the smooth surface. They were always warm, radiating energy of their own. He told himself it was because Shadow was still alive out there, somewhere. The rings seemed to react when Shadow came back the last time, so he used that to convince himself that he was still out there.

It was the only thing that helped him fall asleep at night...the thought that Shadow was just maybe, on his way home.

Dark had been right.

There was a metal base that looked like it hadn't been used in a short while, completely abandoned of any life. As he makes his way down the halls, flashbacks of a salmon colored hair girl hit him, and he remembered Molly. He remember Rouge. He remembered killing an army of strange robots because they killed Molly. He remembered someone named Eggman, but he couldn't remember much else.

"You suffered a temporary amnesia from the amount of Chaos Energy you lost in a battle. It should return naturally on its own," Dark's voice spoke through his head, and he frowned at the information.

"When did this happen, exactly?" he asks back, stepping into what looked to be a bedroom. There was a small fridge in here, and opening it, he scored a bottle of water.

"Ten days ago, give or take. On Mobius, ten months."

He almost spits out the water he was drinking, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "That's…a lot of time."

Dark suddenly appears from his shadow, sitting on the edge of the bed with a shrug. "It's not the worst. Time is different across space. I will guide you the quickest way back."

"You can't just take me?" Shadow asks, finishing the water and grabbing a second bottle out of the fridge. Why was he so thirsty?

"I'm not even supposed to be here," the midnight blue hedgehog frowns, putting his head in his hand. "Besides, you can't use Dark Chaos Energy."

Shadow remembers this for some reason, but isn't sure why. He just knew he could only use Light Chaos Energy. He downs the second bottle of water, staring at the empty container with a confused scowl.

"Without energy you need to eat and drink, whether you want to or not," Dark yawns. "Until I figure out a way to inhibit your energy, you're screwed."

"Is there something you could do?" the Ultimate Lifeform blinks, quirking an ear. The deity shrugs again.

"I have a theory. I'm not going to test it until I'm sure, however."

He watches Dark lay back on the bed, studying him curiously. His fur had a dark aura that rose off him like smoke, curling in the air around him. "I still don't understand what you are," he tries, hoping to get more information.

"I'm a body, a form, made out of Sonic's Dark Energy. I am my own being, but wouldn't be here not for him."

Shadow sits on the edge of the bed carefully, not too close to the darker hedgehog. "What about his golden form?"

"Ah, Super Sonic. He's made from Sonic's Light Chaos Energy. He's the same as I am, but not as strong."

"How can Sonic use both Light and Dark energy?" he asks, ever so curious. Dark sits up, leaning on his hand again.

"He's special, is all I can say. By a certain law I am not allowed to say certain things. Even if I try, the words do not come out."

Shadow tilts his head. "A law created by who?"

"A being of higher power than me," Dark says quietly.

Shadow scoots back on the bed, leaning against the wall it was next to. "You have your own personality, own life...what do you do when you're not needed?"

"There is a zone that we 'Super forms' reside in. It's the same zone the Chaos Emeralds are from. Whenever Sonic needs one of us, he calls on us. We live there and do what we wish, watching over the zone and protecting Sonic in any way we can."

"And do you all develop personalities of your own, or are they from Sonic?" he was surprised he was getting as much information as he was.

Dark didn't seem to mind. "Both. I know and feel every single one of his negative emotions, and Super feels the opposite. We have certain traits from Sonic, but we've grown our own minds as well. Our creator wanted us sentient and to carry our own selves, but still be loyal to Sonic and only Sonic."

"And you're fine with that?" Shadow wonders aloud. To never have a say in your own life…

"We all love Sonic with everything we are made of," Dark answers with no hesitance, making Shadow stare in slight surprise. "We know everything about him, feel his emotions and bond with him like nothing ever could. We would be nothing without him, and this is our purpose."

The black and red hedgehog looks down, deep in thought. It was interesting, to say the least. He was getting more and more memories of Sonic back, some he wasn't sure of, and some he remembered from fighting the "Metarex," a name he knew but still couldn't picture. Still, something bothered him.

"How is it that you're here, then? You can leave the zone you live in?" he has to ask, watching Dark yawn again.

"We're not supposed to unless the situation is dire. Sonic can't call on me if he needs me, and despite the fact that he's mostly made of my energy, he can't use any of it until I'm back. I'm only here to get you back as quickly as possible. Time is passing quickly on Mobius."

Shadow's frown deepens, but doesn't say anything. At least he had someone, despite this hedgehog being questionable. He did feel as if he could trust him, oddly enough, and something about that energy calmed him down and made him feel relaxed.

Dark lays back again, closing his eyes. "You should get some rest. I will wake you when it's been long enough."

Where? He was planning on using this bed, but Dark was laying on the one side of it. Would it be weird for him to lay here, or should he find another bed?

When the black and red hedgehog goes to get up, he hears a chuckle beside him.

"You don't have to go to another room, idiot," Dark was giving him a crooked smirk. "Lay down. I'm not going to kill you or rape you in your sleep, despite how tempting the latter may be."

What.

The look he made must have been interesting, because Dark's smirk grew into a grin. Shadow scowled at him, turning away. He wanted to say something back, but wasn't sure what to say. He was tired, and irritated, and confused, and didn't have the energy to really snap at him. He feels a tug on his arm, and looks back, seeing Dark's grin faded into a serious frown.

"Sleep, idiot."

Shadow lets the hedgehog pull him back to lay down, his exhaustion suddenly catching up with him as his head hit the pillow. The bed is warm from Dark's aura, and he feels himself drifting off when he hears the hedgehog speak up one last time.

"I'll watch over and make sure you're safe. Good night, Shadow."

He was out only seconds later.

The scream rang throughout the house, louder than any of the ones he's heard so far. The golden fox flies up the stairs, into the bedroom his brother slept in, staring with shock as his eyes landed on Sonic, on the floor, sobbing in hysterics.

Another night terror…

This one seemed worse than all the others. He's never seen Sonic cry before. Running to sit down beside him, Tails wraps his arms around the half-asleep hero, pulling him close...the same way Sonic use to do with him when he had nightmares as a kid.

"Hey," he says softly, remembering what Sonic use to do with him. "It's okay, Sonic. I'm here...it was just a bad dream…"

Sonic whines and buries his face in the fox's white chest, trembling viciously as if he were freezing.

"...s-s...g-gone…" the hedgehog whimpers out, and Tails has to ponder what he's talking about. "...h-he's-s…"

"Who's gone, Sonic?" the fox tries to ask, but Sonic only breaks down again, and he feels horrible for trying.

He spends the next hour coaxing the hero back to sleep, before getting him back in bed and staying with him for another thirty minutes, just to be safe.

He was playing with silver Chaos Emerald, rolling it around on the table in a circle.

"Sonic?"

He sighed and closed his eyes, resting his cheek on a fist and giving the two-tailed fox a half-lidded stare. Tails walked around the table, hopping up to sit on a chair beside his.

"I know you don't like me asking, but are you okay?" the kitsune asks carefully, expecting the eyeroll he got and trying to ignore it. Sonic laid his head down on the table, trying to balance the Chaos Emerald on its tiny point, but knowingly failing as the large gem rolled over on its side.

"I'm fine," he mumbles. "Just tired…"

Tails's large ears flattened. Sonic's fur was a pale blue, nothing compared to the bright cobalt it usually was. His muzzle and belly were pale as well, and his normally bright, emerald green eyes were dull and shaded. He looked ragged and unkempt, and black circles were now stained under his eyes. His whole body drooped and he simply looked horrible in every way.

"I don't think that's just it," he sighs out loud, watching his brother's ears pin back irritably. "I haven't told Knuckles, you know," the fox starts, putting his head in his hand. "I think you should go to him. See if he can't help you."

Sonic's eyes narrowed the moment Knuckles was brought up. Involve another person? So he can get them hurt, too?

No, absolutely not.

He sits up and pushes himself out of his chair, grabbing the Chaos Emerald and absorbing it.

"I think I'm good," he says, voice flat. "I'll figure it out."

He turns and leaves Tails there, the kit listening to the front door open and close.

There had to be something… The fox rubs his eyes and thinks, trying to piece it all together. He's done everything he could think of doing to try and help both the emeralds and Sonic, but he just couldn't get it. For once he felt like he wasn't smart enough to figure this out.

He hoped he could convince Sonic to talk to Knuckles. Their echidna friend was there when Sonic made the transformation, and knew just as much as Sonic did about Chaos.

He thought about the way Sonic had broke down that night, and how distraught he was, only to not remember it at all in the morning.

"You really don't remember?"

"I feel like you're just making it up. I have no idea what you're talking about."

If Sonic didn't tell Knuckles soon, he was going to himself.

The Master Emerald woke him in the middle of the night, glowing a strange, pale yellow color and sending a sheering pain through his chest he still couldn't shake. He could have sworn he heard someone scream, but he was the only one on the floating island, and as he stood staring at the emerald, he crossed his arms, shivering from the sudden chills.

The emerald was distressed; something was seriously wrong. It almost felt like the emerald was mourning over something or someone, as if something terrible had just happened.

Feeling paranoid, he lifts up his arm and wakes up his communicator, scrolling down the list of names until he found a certain someone's in particular. He selects their name and calls, wondering if they were busy or not. It wasn't even noon yet, but he was sure it was fine…

"What's up, Knuckles?"

He lets out a relieved sigh.

"Nothing, just checking to see how you're doing…" he says casually, not sure if he could really lie. He can almost hear the hedgehog's eyeroll, and practically predicts the hedgehog's next words…

"I'm fine, knucklehead. You've done this every day this week. Not even Amy bothers me this much."

The Guardian sighs and taps his foot on the ground, looking up at the Master Emerald. "With the Chaos Emeralds still dead, I have a reason to be worried. The Master Emerald reacted to something last night, and something's upsetting it. Just wanted to make sure you were okay."

There was a pause, a moment of silence, before Sonic's voice spoke up again.

"Flattering, Knuckles," he says in a flat tone. "Everything's fine here. Just trying to think of ways to fix the emeralds. With the Gaia Temples gone I don't know what else to do."

"I've been doing as much research as I can, it's just hard because most of these scrolls are either too old and damaged to read, or in another language I don't understand," red rubs his tired eyes with one hand, shaking his head. "And are you still okay with your energy? Nothing out of the ordinary?"

Another pause, this one longer.

"Sonic?"

"Just...nothing."

He was going to say something but changed his mind, the echidna thinks with furrowed brows. "Just come out with it, Sonic. It's not going to kill you to tell me what's wrong."

"It's nothing," Sonic answers back almost too quickly. "Look, I'm busy. I'll talk to you later."

"Sonic, don't hang-!"

The call ended, leaving the echidna there to glare at the end-call screen.

"Asshole," he mutters, turning to plop down on the top stair of the alter, putting his head in his hands.

Sonic was a bad liar when it came to his own well-being. He always has been. He didn't have to be a genius to know something was wrong. The Master Emerald was reacting to something, the Chaos Emeralds were dead, and Sonic was acting strange.

He would have to go and investigate if he wanted answers.

The two hedgehogs were panting, eyes wide as they watched the golden, chaotic light get closer.

"We're not going to make it," the light blue one says, turning to meet the gold one's red eyes. "It'll catch up and get us both."

"What are we supposed to do?" Super asks, worry evident all over his face.

"I can distract it," the lighter hedgehog says, ears bending back. "You need to go and get to the others."

"W-Wait, what?" Super turns, startled. "You can't seriously be… It'll kill you!"

The light blue hedgehog grabs Super by the shoulders, their eyes meeting. "Super, don't argue. With Dark gone… Sonic needs you more than anyone of us here. Get to the others. Get the Guardian's help. Don't let Sonic find out about this, and save him."

"Hyper…" the golden deity starts, voice weak.

"I said go!" Hyper turns the hedgehog around and pushes him, and Super takes off, knowing that if he hesitated he wouldn't leave.

It's when he's flying through the next space so many minutes later, that a loud crack of thunder booms through the land, and a shock of lighting goes through the hedgehog's chest, causing him to cry out and collapse on his knees.

No…

"HYPER!"

Footnotes-

*The Silver, or Grey, Chaos Emerald, was the Seventh Emerald held by Knuckles on Angel Island in Sonic the Comic. The Silver Emerald has the ability to control the other six emeralds, and is titled as the "Seventh Emerald." It's roll is very important in this story.

**A made up set of words that are going to represent the Chaos Language that the Super forms talk in when they don't want others to know what they're saying. Ela ohilia means, "do what you must" or "do what needs to be done," and Sonic's heard it multiple times. It's literally a language I made up, since I didn't want to use any real-world languages.

***The Special Zone is where you would normally go in the games to collect the Chaos Emeralds. In Sonic the Comic it's another dimension where people, including the Chaotix, live. In this story, the Special Zone is a dimension of pure Chaos Energy where Sonic's Super forms live and can create whatever they want. It's also where Sonic stores the Chaos Emeralds when he doesn't need them so they don't separate. The only ones that can go in the Special Zone are Sonic and anyone the Super forms pull in. The forms are not supposed to leave.

Notes-

Since this chapter burned me out, if there are any errors in spelling or something odd, I'll take care of them in a couple days. I usually do that with all my stories, and will fix them when I notice them.
