City Life

Episode 2

Scene-The Eatery

"A large tuna with tomatoes" Katherine Cameron said. A man got up from a table grabbed his food and sat back down. Kathrine gave a sigh of relief and looking towards her co-worker and best friend Mindy Leonetti, soon to be Ayers, smiled. She had been in the back making sandwiches when Patrick came in but she didn't need to ask her how it went. The whole town would know how it went soon enough.

Katherine Cameron was in her mid-thirties with long brown hair tied back in a ponytail. She was tall, slender and beautiful. She could have any man she wanted but her past few relationships had gone poorly and so she decided to stay out of the dating life for a bit. She was wearing a plaid green shirt with jeans and she considered that her uniform since she was the owner of The Eatery she was allowed to dress however she wanted.

"So what did our dutiful Italian want this time?" She asked letting the distain show. After knowing Mindy for a few years now she was quite well versed in understanding just how bad the marriage had gotten the past year. With seeing how stressed and angry Mindy kept getting every few weeks for two months she suggested counseling or even a divorce but she put it off. It wasn't until a month ago that she finally decided to go through with a divorce.

"His lawyers have been calling me three times a day for the past three days," She huffed. "But Wallace told me to not talk to them and they were well aware to only talk to him." Wallace Baldini was a local lawyer in town that was used a lot and quite well known around the community.

"That man I swear he enjoys making things difficult for everyone doesn't he?" It was very well known that she wasn't a great admirer of his. Mindy's eyes grew and she looked rageful.

"Yea everyone, but I never would think one of those people would be Tyler,"

Scene-Oceanridge Police Department

Klaus Leon stood in the elevator as he rode it to the third floor. He rubbed his face as the stresses of the day fell on him. He was in his early sixties with a nearly bald head of blond hair. He was quite portly as well with his white button down shirt barely able to be tucked into his jeans. Plus he was Oceanridge's police commissioner and he was felling every bit of his job today.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened and he exited out. He entered an open area with plenty of desks and detectives around. Some of them said hello to which he replied back. Others were to engrossed in what they were doing to pay him any attention. That didn't matter he only had one place in mind. He went to a back area of the room and approached a desk that was owned to a Heinrich Pryce.

"How's it going on the Moises Jordan murder?" he asked standing over the man who was sitting and not looking to happy to see him.

"Well the way the news is talking about it you would think we didn't care," he said waving his hand over a newspaper whose front page story said Principal's murder gone unsolved for a month now. He didn't need to read it since he had already seen it and that was the reason he was up here. "It's not like we aren't working on it but it's not easy when there is nothing to work with. It seems that he was in his office and someone came in, shot him three times in the chest, and then left." Once again he knew all of this and that's why it was frustrating. It was so simple there was no evidence to tie it to anyone. The surveillance cameras weren't working that day and no one had been around to see who came into his office during that school day.

"Well what about the rumors about Moises? Did those pan anything out?" He was grasping at straws here but he didn't know where else to go. This was looking to be a murder that would never get solved.

Heinrich sighed looking clearly annoyed "The rumors that he was shady and into some dirty business? Nothing. I looked through files and his bank records and nothing states he was into anything illegal. Of course he could be using the school but we will never be able to get a warrant to look through the school's records." That was a big lead for them and it didn't pan anything out. They had one last hope.

"What about the boy that found him? Was he able to tell you anything about what he saw before finding the body?"

Heinrich snorted and Klaus was getting annoyed at the detective's attitude. "The kid couldn't tell us anything yet he was calm talking to us but his father was in such a rage not surprising. His father probably knows who did it but we have no evidence of who could have done it."

"I never did find out who the boy was anyway?" Klaus stated. He never really kept up to date with this case expecting it to just be solved quickly considering he was killed in a school, someone would have to have seen the killer.

Heinrich laughed "The kid was Tyler Leonetti."

Scene-The Ayers Household

A boy of about sixteen sat on a three person couch looking at his laptop. It was open to a news article that was talking about the principal's murder investigation. He sighed until he heard a sound from an adjacent room and quickly closes his laptop and sat back against the couch. A woman in her mid-60's came out into the living room. She had long grey hair with a plump figure. She was wearing a long flowing dressing with a flowery design on it.

"Tyler, do you know when your mom is getting home?" The woman asked.

"She said she was getting out of work at 3:30," he checked his watch. "So probably in 45 minutes."

"Ok, I am going to start cooking dinner in an hour. I need to talk to her about her plans for tonight." The woman turned around to head back into the adjacent room.

Tyler who moved his brown hair out of his eyes just sighed. He got up from the couch and stretched his runner's body in different directions. He missed doing track and sadly didn't make the cut for his junior year of track. Something he didn't understand since he had done so well the year before. But he still knew what his grandmother wanted to ask his mom when she got home. The divorce.

"Good because I can't wait to not having to be connected to my dad anymore."
