"Do you think it's really going to work?" asked Emma walking into the town's public library with Ellie who shrugged her left shoulder.

"I don't know, honestly" Ellie says then looks to Emma, "I hope so-"

Ellie bumped into someone and could only stare when she looked back up to the person who held her up from falling. Sean. Her ex.

Emma smirked a bit while looking between them. "Sean. What are you doing in a library?" she joked.

He finally ripped his eyes off Ellie, and Ellie seemed to shove him off her anyways, standing straight up and avoiding his eyes. He coughed slightly and answered Emma, "Studying for those fucking tests Kwan has coming up." he muttered after, "I don't have a computer at my place."

Ellie felt stiff. Sean had totally broken her heart last year, breaking up with her because he couldn't handle the supernatural stuff. When he found out she was a witch, he claimed she put a love spell on him. As if it was too disturbing to know he fell for a witch on his own.

..She really thought they were falling in love.

"What are you guys up to?" Sean asked, sneaking a glance back at Ellie.

"Same! We're studying." Emma lied.

He coughed and nodded, "Alright well. . good luck."

"Lets go, EM." Ellie said while rolling her eyes and went around Sean, leaving him in the dust. Sean looked down sadly then walked off too.

Emma caught up to Ellie who walked down the isles now, and looked as if smoke was coming out of her ears. "He couldn't take his eyes off you." Emma admitted.

"Don't do that." snapped Ellie, trying to completely ignore her and went down another isle.

"what!" Emma exclaimed innocently, and yelped when Ellie turned to her and stopped in her tracks.

Ellie told her, "You don't what it's like to have someone you thought you trusted look at you like some freak."

Emma sighed, "Ellie, he's only human .That stuff was all hocus pocus to us before. Of course he would get scared. The fact he needed to admit to himself he loved you as well was scary enough for Sean. You know he has his issues."

Ellie looked so a little shyly, "Did he ever..love you? Or you him?"

Emma snorted, "Heck no." she looked for a word, "Just... we were close. Understood another. Still do. Friends." she smiled, happy with that. "You're the only girl I've ever seen him really care about."

"Don't I feel special." muttered Ellie, turning to walk off til Emma grabbed her shoulder.

Emma went serious and tried to help her out, "Your the only girl I've ever seen him give 'the look' too."

Ellie looked at her like she was delirious, "what!? What look?"

The blonde rolled her eyes and explained, "The guilty 'I love you, I'm sorry for whatever I've done, and Ill do anything for you' look. Jay has it too." giggled Emma.

Ellie rolled her eyes and went back on her quest, walking down the isle but a smile cracked out and she blushed, shaking her head. When they finally found what they were looking for, Ellie grabbed the book and passed it to Emma whose eyes lit up.

Ellie crossed her arms, "I have to ask," she says, "Are we going to at least tell Lucas we're doing this?"

Emma paused, "No. He might jump in and ruin everything" she sadly admits "But, he can see her straight after...we all know Manny's doing this for him."

Ellie nods "You're right" . She then began to walk to the back of the library. Emma gave Ellie a weird look wondering where they were going.

"I don't think we can go to the back. It says Employees only" Emma points to a sign that said 'no passing this point'. Ellie laughs opening a door and letting Emma inside.

"Relax" says Ellie "I know the guy that works back here. He has the real spell books and all the props we need."

Emma gasped happily. Oh! Wow. Ellie had all the witchy hookups. Cool!

Emma walked up to a counter where someone stood, reading a book and he looked up. He looked in his early thirties, tall and skinny, but a good looking guy for his age. He eyed Emma questionably until his lips rounded to a smile seeing Ellie.

"Red." he said warmly.

"Hey Tracker" breaths Ellie, running fingers through her hair and looked around the place. Geez, it's been a while since she was here. It had crystals and candles, a great atmosphere.

"What are you doing here?"

"Well." Ellie went seriously and explained, "We're looking for an old spell book. Probably from the gypsy times.. the book of the dead."

Tracker stared at both of the girls and let a laugh out to shake his head, "You do know that's a powerful spell you want there?" they nod. "I'm not letting you do it." he told Ellie.

Emma's mouth fell and even Ellie scoffed, "Trust me" Ellie said to him "We know it's heavy stuff but we're willing to put up with the consequences. How bad could it be? She brings Satan back up with her? Fine." she pointed at Emma, "She killed a werewolf last year and is dating a vampire."

Tracker raised his eyebrows kind of impressed and Emma just flushed. Way to single her out.

"We'll be fine." Ellie promised, "How bad can it get, right?" she asks and he laughs walking over.

"Pretty bad actually." Tracker stopped by a box and blew the dust off of it before putting his hand in and reached for a book. He blew on it too and walked to Emma. He could sense that it was really HER looking for it. "You're talking about bringing back something dead..."

"No we're not." Emma corrected, "I'm not asking for a zombie of my friend. We are going to do this safe, and right. She's going to come back and she's going to be her and human again." Emma confirms and he lifted an eyebrow.

"This isn't safe." he declared but shrugged. Fine. They looked determined. "You know you're going to need a couple of people helping you on this."

Emma nods. She knew the drill. "Thanks Tracker" Emma said holding the book close to her heart, and gave Ellie a look to go and went out first. Tracker watched Emma go and then looked to Ellie.

"It's her best friend" Ellie told him "She...she died by turning into a werewolf...we need this Tracker" Ellie says.

"Good luck" breaths Tracker. Ellie frowns watching him leave and go into his small office. She leaned on the counter and ran a hand through her hair. Did Tracker not like this idea? She hated that, since he was very much like a father figure to her while growing up.

flashback:

Ellie was 8 years old, hair still as red as a flame. She was always left home alone, nobody taking care of her. Her mother died when she was 5 and she now lived with her 2 aunts. They were both witches which made Ellie interested in practicing it. Their house was big and white and in the middle of a field. Witches loved their freedom and to be away from big cities. The backyard had a greenhouse, her aunts used it to make potion or do spells, everything and every ingredient for a spell was in there.

You see.. the reason her mother died was because her father had killed them both in a car accident. Purposely. He couldn't live with the fact she was a witch, and that their child now was. He never loved Ellie and thought she was the spawn of satan and not his. He was always inlove with her mother, so he drove her off a cliff with him like a 'Romeo and Juliet' thing. Thats why Ellie promised herself this ONE thing..

Ellie went to a white pot piled with rose pedals and smiled as her little hands wrapped around the pot, "I wish to never fall in love" she said and sprinkled flowers over the ground and giggles "And If i do? He has to have one blue eye, ..and one green!" she threw the rest of the flower pedals in the air, and watched them slowly fall down on her.

Suddenly, a man appeared and Tracker knocked on the door and looked at the little girl and chuckled, "What are doing Elenore?"

He smiled a little, walking over to her. He was a close friend to her aunts, he was a powerful warlock, even more powerful than her aunts but Ellie? Ellie, he could sense, was going to be powerful too.

"Making a spell" Ellie explains, "so I never have to fall inlove.."

"But everyone has a soulmate." Tracker said.

"Fine. He has to be perfect though."

Tracker raised his eyebrows. "Does that exsist?" Nobody was perfect.

Ellie smirked, "Exactly." she went on with her unlikely conditions, "He'll have to have blue eyes- no! One green eye, on blue. And he'll have to hum my favorite song..."

"What's your favorite song?" he asked.

Little Ellie gave him a look like he was stupid, "I can't tell you. Nobody can know so it doesn't ruin my chances of never falling in love."

"Love can sometimes be a very beautiful thing. It's stronger than any magic I know." Tracker told her.

Ellie turned from him and muttered, "Love is what took Mommy from me. I don't want it."

END OF FLASHBACK

Tracker was probably the only man Ellie came close to loving, but that was because he was just like family. If anyone had come close to her being in love, it was Sean.

(((****))))

"How are we going to do this without telling Lucas or Jay and we need two other people to help?"

Emma wondered this too. Her and Ellie sat on the steps of Degrassi, watching students pass by them.

Emma bit her lip, "Good question." her eyes then lit up, seeing somebody come out of their car, "Wait! I know just the person."

The girls now sat with Spinner on a school bench, and talked about the ritual they wanted to do to bring Manny back.

"I'm in" agrees Spinner and gave Emma a small smile. She was impressed. That didn't take too much convincing, "I miss her." Spinner said and sighed, "She shouldn't of died the way she did. I tried to save her."

"I know." nodded Emma, giving him a look not to blame himself.

Ellie took a deep breath and reminded, "Now we need one more person."

"I can try to talk Jane into it." Spinner insisted.

And Jane was in. Easy as one, two, three. She hated seeing her brother so torn up and unhappy.

(((((*****)))

That night, Ellie groaned inside Emma's room. "Do we have to go out?"

Darcy sat on Emma's bed, filing her nails boredly, "Do you have to come out with us?"

"Darcy." snapped Emma.

Darcy looked at her, and scoffed. But she shut up. She was trying to do this thing where she was nicer. She was a person too, and Manny was also one of her good friends.. she missed her and she didn't want to lose any other friendships she had. Which meant Emma, and Emma wanted to go out tonight. It was her 17th, and Emma knew Jay would suspect something if she didn't go out to celebrate.

So they were going to the Ravine. Meanwhile, at the ravine...

Spinner stood awkwardly beside Jay, and tried to make conversation with the vampire he didn't really know to well. ."So! That Italy game last night.." he drifted.

Jay cornered his eyes at him, lighting a cigerette and looked rather uninterested. He covered his hand over the end of the cigerette and lit it before inhaling deeply.

"Soccer." explained Spinner, in case Jay didn't understand but nope, he just didn't care. Vampires..probably didn't watch tv, or soccer. Spinner coughed slightly and grabbed a beer to drink so he'd just shut his mouth. Jay was so intimidating. How did Emma get through to this guy?

"Hey." Jane said happily, coming over and smiling. She ran up to Spinner and kissed him.

Spinner smiled against the kiss and pulled away, "Hey you."

Jane caught Jay giving her a look. "What?" she snapped, letting go of Spinner and fixed her hair.

Jay snickered, shrugging innocently, "Nothing.." he drifted off and took a small hit from his cigarette before muttering under his breath, "You went from hating humans to lovin' them real fast."

"Could say the same for you couldn't we?" taunted Spinner, standing up for Jane. It's not like she needed it, but he earned a little respect from Jay when he spoke up and Jay even smirked a bit wider and nodded.

"You got me there, Spinster." taunted Jay.

Sean came over to them and nodded. "Hey, whats up?" he asked. Jay just nodded back and scanned the crowd for Emma. Late for her own damn party. Figures.

"Did you come here alone?" joked Spinner, eyeing Sean curiously. "Frankly, I don't think I've seen you with a girl since your last break up."

Sean nearly sneered and grabbed a beer, "Can we not talk about that?"

"Did she dump you?" Jane bluntly asked and Jay chuckled. Sean rolled his eyes at both of them.

"I did the dumping actually," he muttered before he took a sip of beer when he cracked it open miserably. He regretted it with every ounce of his being. Sean stood there, sipping his beer now and then, but finally cracked. He had to talk to somebody about it. "I thought I'd move on from her, but I can't." he looked really frustrated.

"That's love, my man." Spinner insisted.

Jay was a little happy to hear Sean was hung up on someone, and it wasn't Emma, "Who is it?" he asked him.

Sean looked to him and admitted, "Ellie."

"Why'd it end?" Jane asked.

"She's a witch."

"Ellie's a witch?" Jay looked baffled, still trying to take that in. He looked frustrated himself now. "A real one? Born like that?"

"So she told me." nodded Sean and scoffed, "She trusted me with her secret and I.. treated her like.."

"A monster." Jane taunted, giving him an eye roll.

Sean snapped madly, "She expected me not to freak or something. It was like, the first few days of me finding out werewolves were even a real thing but my GIRLFRIEND was a witch too?"

"Try to talk to her, it's been a while, maybe she cooled off. Maybe she'll take you back." Spinner said.

"I don't know.." muttered Sean, but then the conversation came to a stop when Emma and the girls were coming over. Emma even looked a little tipsy.

"Happy birthday." Jay said huskily when Emma went to him, putting her arms around his neck. "Did someone start the party already?"

"Darcy made me." Emma declared. "One whole bottle of white wine."

"You're an animal." taunted Jay. It seemed Emma was a light weight. She giggled at his joke.

Darcy rolled her eyes while holding a Jack Daniels bottle. She was still alittle jealous of Emma getting a guy like Jay.

Jay grinned down at the adorable Emma who cringed and put a hand on her stomach, "I need water." she went to go and grabbed Darcys hand to come with her but when they turned they bumped into Lucas.

"Lucas!" Jane gasped too, shocked. They all were. He had been invited, but nobody thought he'd even come and he came on over to the group, looking around rather boredly.

"You came." Emma said kind of happily.

"Booze and a party right?" Lucas asked, looking already buzzed and cracked a beer open when he grabbed one right away. He cheered at them and walked off. "Happy birthday."

Lucas shoved by Emma who stumbled but blinked, and sadly looked after him, tossing a frown over her shoulder. Jay clenched his jaw, and hoped Lucas didn't ruin her night.

"Be right back." Jay told her. He vanished in thin air, and Lucas stopped walking when the vampire appeared right infront of him and shoved him back to stop him. Jay squinted his eyes madly and poked his chest roughly, "You know what, I know you lost Manny but so did Emma, and it's her fucking birthday so cheer the fuck up for ONE night. Or leave." Jay growled, fangs even appearing.

Lucas thought about the choices, and snickered, "Alright," he sneered at his own best friend, "I'm out."

He dropped the beer and walked into the woods. He morphed into a wolf and Jay's eyes widened, looking around but thankfully none of the other people partying around the ravine were looking. Lucas was being too careless nowadays. Meanwhile, Emma went dancing with Spinner who kept twirling her and her curls in her hair bounced and spun with her. She laughed, and maybe Jay was right, she was a LITTLE tipsy. Ellie laughed, dancing with them and fanned herself, "I need water!" the redhead shouted and they nodded at her.

Ellie squished through the 'dance floor' in the middle of the park and went to where the water bottles were, taking one out of a box on a bench and sat on it too as she opened it and took a few sips.

A guy near by smiled while watching her, all night he couldn't take his eyes off her. The pretty little red head. She stood out from everyone here and he didn't know why, but he had to meet her, "Hi there."

Ellie turned her head, seeing a tall, buff and very fit guy infront of her. His green eyes twinkled down at her and his small grin was way too charming to trust.

"Hi." she bluntly said, raising an eyebrow and turned her head from the guy who seemed to be trying to hit on her. He looked maybe a freshmen in college.

"Sorry" he told her, "I'm not trying to pick you up or anything. You just seemed bored and to be honest? I am too" he points up over to the dance floor "My friends are celebrating my birthday for me. You'd think I'd be having fun." he jokes around and shakes his head no. "Their dancing and I'm...well.. I don't dance."

Ellie smiled with a small blush, feeling bad for being a bitch to him on his birthday "Well then happy birthday"

He nodded and held his beer tighter in his hand, looking around and trying to figure out what to say next to her and could curse at himself. Name, give her a name. "...Im Jesse" he put out his hand after running it through his brown shaggy hair.

Ellie shook his hand back and smiled back at him "Ellie Nash" she greeted.

"Well, Ellie Nash, you don't have to waste your time with me anymore" Jesse said to her and she looks at him oddly, "You can go back to your friends. I'll find someone else to bug...might even go home" he admits in wonder and she laughs at him. He was wierd...but she liked wierd. She was wierd. So ..she ended up staying with him, passing him another beer as he finished and cracked one herself. They smiled endlessly at another.

From a far, a jealous Sean Cameron narrowed his eyes at Ellie and Jesse. He looked down and clenched his jaw before he decided to call it a night and went home.

A breathless Emma went to Jay and he sat on a table across from Jane as she went behind him, leaning her chin on his shoulder and asked, "Can we go?"

He smirked and nodded, getting up right away. She smiled slyly, happy she was getting her way so quickly. She had to have more birthdays more often! They walked past Ellie hand in hand and Emma stopped, "Ellie we're going. Coming?"

Ellie looked back at Jesse and he smiled a little sipping his beer and she turns back to Emma "I'm going to stay a while" she said, looking down and trying to hide her blush. She was really liking Jesse. He knew his novels, was an editor himself at Toronto University and she was a big journalist herself. He seemed..perfect.

Emma just nodded and tangled her fingers tighter in Jay's and pulled him along again. The two went back to his place, and she loved his bed... well, she loved him in his bed and him giving it to her in his bed- woah, she was drunk.

Lets just say for once, it was a good birthday. Very pleasing.
