Hello readers. I'm sorry for the late update. I haven't visit this site for a long time. I decided to continue writing since there is people willing to read my story. Thank you all
Dane opened the door and walk with Rye into the secured meeting room. The room was dark as the lights had been turned off for the big flat screen monitor. The darkness was not a problem for he could see clearly with his eyes, thanks to the animal genetics that he had inherited from his father. He could see that all important and trusted members of the Breed community were present for this meeting.
The important members of the Breed Cabinet were present. He could see the Alpha of Feline, Wolf and Coyote Breeds sitting in the plush grey leather chairs with their mates besides them. There were also the family members of his brother, Callan in this sudden secret meeting. Only Taber and his wife, Roni were absent, probably left to be with their kids. Callan and the others were very protective and they rarely leave their kids without any family member. Everyone looked as puzzled as him. Clearly, they also had no clue why Jonas had called for a meeting late in the night. The man himself, Jonas was busy peering at a laptop monitor with a young Wolf Breed enforcer known as Navarro.
"Hello everybody, sorry I'm late," Dane grinned to everyone sitting around the large rectangle conference table.
"You are just in time," said Callan, his younger brother. "Ok, Jonas. Now that Dane is here, can you explain why you called for this meeting," he said.
Jonas breathed out heavily before directing everyone attention towards the monitor. "Thank you all for agreeing to this meeting." He signalled Navarro to start the presentation. "Tonight, we have managed to capture one of the master minds in Project Omega and many other terrible Genetic Council experiments. Meet Ms Carmen Winchester."
Everyone was surprised when they saw the picture of the young woman on the monitor. Dane and Rye exchanged glances as they saw the image of the woman from the ball. Now the mystery woman had a name and it seems that the others had also met this woman, judging from their reaction. Dane was interested with Kane Tyler and Seth Lawrence reactions as both looked really shocked. He could smell the anger rising from Kane.
"Are you out of your mind?" Kane Tyler exclaimed. "How can Rose be involved in any of this experiment?"
"Rose?" Jonas asked in confused tone as everyone stared at Kane. "Do you know her well Kane? I didn't know that she goes by the name Rose. But then we still have no detail information about her. It seems like she had been trying to live under the radar."
"She is a family friend to whom the Tylers are in debt for life. We called her Rose because…" Kane hesitated, turning to look at his wife, Sherra besides him who stared back at him. He sighed and continued speaking. "She was called Rose after our mother's favourite flower."
Callan arched his brows and glanced at his wife Merinus, Kane's brother. She looked as confused as the others. "Are we talking about your Rose?," she asked Kane. Kane just nodded and squeezed his wife hands, trying to assure her that he will explain everything later. "Jonas, are you sure you are not mistaken? Rose, the master mind of Project Omega…? She is too young to be one of the Genetic Council upper-level members."
Hope Gunnar, the Lupina of Alpha Wolfe Gunnar spoke up. "I agree with them Jonas. Are you sure? I also know her but as Carmen Kurosaki. Apart from the age, she was too gentle to be one of the Council members." She looked at Scheme Tallant, the mate of Tanner and exchanged knowing looks.
Interesting, very interesting reactions, Dane thought. Finally, a new thing to entertain him. Lately, he was getting bored with his daily routine and all the problems in his life. He could use a little direction in the form of this mysterious young woman. This woman was definitely an enigma, a beautiful enigma to be exact. Winchester, Rose, Kurosaki. What is her real identity?
"As I've said before her real identity is a mystery. Hell, even you guys know her as a different person," Jonas sighed and motioned for everyone to focus on the monitor once again. "My source was legit guys. Hope was right, Ms Carmen was previously known as Ms Kurosaki. She was the granddaughter of Ethan Winchester and Karin Kurosaki. I'm sure everyone here had heard of Winchester Corporations. For years we had suspected that they are one of the Council benefactors, but we haven't found any solid proof. Both the Winchester and Kurosaki family are very secretive, hence the limited information on Ms Carmen. We knew that she was raised in Japan by the Kurosakis and had recently been adopted by the Winchester. Rumour has it that she is actually the love child of one of the Winchester sons."
"All of this is really fascinating." Wolfe spoke up then, his voice amused. "So what if she is actually a real Winchester or whoever the hell she really is? I don't see how this makes her one of the master mind of Project Omega."
"If any of you will let me continue…" Jonas sound irritated as they kept on cutting him off. Callan nodded, signalling for him to continue. "We found that while supposedly living in hiding in Japan, she was travelling back and forth to the US to help conduct experiments. We also have audio proved that can link Ms Carmen and her family to the Council. A solid prove."
Jonas signalled for Navarro to play the audio that could convince them of Carmen involvement with the Council. "I will do everything I can to help you, uncle. You're right the Breeds are abomination that should not be let to breathe in the same air with us." Dane was disgusted to hear her words. Apparently this woman only looked beautiful but she had an ugly soul.
"I trust you, Carmen. Don't fail me! Make sure the drugs work so we can control the fucking animals. I will make sure that the Winchesters will welcome you with open arm if you proved that you can be useful to this family," the gruff voice said.
All of the men cursed as they heard about the drugs. Kane shook his head, his expression sombre. Dane wondered if he will still believe that the woman was innocence. Seth and Del-rey Delgado, the Coyote Alpha just sat stilled. He noticed that they seem to be hiding something. Jonas had also noticed their reaction and now he was watching silently.
"What drugs are they talking about?" Callan sound furious. "Is it the same drugs that were used to control Ely?"
Dr. Elyianna Morrey, the feline Breed genetic expert was injected with a mind-control drug last year. The drug had caused her to betray her own people as she was unable to refuse the orders of those who had reprogrammed her mind. It was hard for her to recover from the addiction and the guilt and shame of her actions. The thought of another Breed suffering from the same misfortune made Callan's blood boiled.
"I'm afraid we still don't have full information on the drugs. It could be something new and more deadly," Jonas answered.
"The recording does not proof that she is working with the Council in the Omega project. Do you have any other proof? Have you considered that she was only pretending to help to save herself?" Del-Rey voice was calm as he voiced his opinion.
Jonas narrowed his gaze on Del-Rey. "You seem to be hiding something, Del-Rey. I would also like to inform all of you that during the short chat that I've had with Ms Carmen, she had demanded to see you, Alpha Delgado. She insisted that she would rather be held captive in Citadel or Haven rather than stay in Sanctuary. Can you explain why?"
By now everyone attention was focus on the Coyote Alpha. His coya turned and lifted her brows, silently questioning his mate. Del-Rey smiled gently at her, he took a breath and was about to open his mouth to explain when Gray Tyler suddenly barged into the meeting room.
"Jonas, you have made a mistake. You need to release Rose now," Gray harshly said, his voice full of conviction. He turned to look at his siblings before wincing. "I'm sorry for barging in." Del-Rey glared at the youngest Tyler brothers.
"What is wrong with you?" Merinus exclaimed. "We haven't seen you in a year and you rarely called. Now you suddenly show up in a meeting you aren't invited."
Tanner shook his head and grinned. "Wow, this meeting had turned crazier with each passing moment," he chuckled.
"Sit down, Gray," Callan sighed. "Del-Rey, I believe you were about to share important info with us. Please continue and then we should let Jonas finish his briefing without interruption," he demanded. "And you Gray, owe all of us explanation. What the hell had you've been up to and why are you here?"
"I think it is better if we let Jonas finish the briefing. I want to hear the reasons for his accusation before explaining myself," said Del-Ray. His voice was firm because like Kane, he was sure Carmen is innocence.
Jonas looked around the room. He could sense that some of the people in this room knew more about Carmen. The Tylers and Del-Rey were confident enough to defend her, as if they had personally knew her. Seth had remained eerily silence throughout the meeting, something was troubling him. More questions that needs to be answer.
"I don't actually have proved that she is involved in the Project Omega," Jonas said wearily. The Tylers and Del-Rey were relief to hear his admission. "However, we have many other proofs that can show you that she was involved in many of the experiments, though we don't really know what is her real role in these experiments," he sighed.
Gray was about to interrupt Jonas, but his brother in-law, Callan shot a sharp look at him. He was so eager to defend Carmen which made Dane wonder how big were the debt that the Tylers had owed to this woman. He can sense the feelings of loyalty and admiration from them towards Carmen.
"I know there is some missing information. But we know that she is a genetic expert and have photographic memory. My source said that she might be able to help Amber. We can also use her as a link to condemn the Winchester and Kurosaki for their involvement with the Council." Jonas continued, sounding desperate.
The room's atmosphere turned sombre when Jonas and Racheal's child was mention. Every member of the Breed community shared the couple pain as they watched the lovely child suffer each day due to the cruelty of the Council. The Council had continued to terrorize their life even after the Breed had escaped from their labs. Will the Breed ever find freedom in their lives?
"I'm afraid that is all the relevant information that we had. Carmen has valuable information that can be used to stop the Council and maybe save Amber," Jonas summarized, sounding hopeful. "We still have not been able to get anything from her. She is a peculiar woman, that woman had hard rock mental barrier and no scent at all. Interrogating her can be tricky as it will be difficult to know whether she is lying or telling the truth."
"She is not peculiar, she is special," Del-Rey spoke up since it was his time to explain. "Carmen had been our secret allied in rescuing Breeds in some of the hidden and unknown labs. She had been a great help and I'm sure that she was used as a scapegoat for the Council should we come close to their secret experiments. Besides, though she is a genetic expert she majored in plant not animals," he calmly said.
Tanner narrowed his gaze at Del-Rey. "Why does her name never come out as our secret informant?"
"Tanner, I'm sure Sanctuary also has secret informants that they need to protect," Del-Rey replied.
"But can you vouched that she was not involve in Project Omega," Callan asked.
Del-Rey shook his head. He could not make such claim. "I'm sure she will help if she can. Let me talk to her," he said.
"Don't forget about the drug." Wolfe said. "I don't want any other incidence where our own allies was force to sabotage us." Everyone nod their heads, sharing Wolfe concern.
"We need to release her. Holding her here will not help us," Gray interjected. "You will only endanger her."
"We can protect her here. If she is a true allied, she will cooperate. She can even live with us. We will forever be grateful if she can help save Amber," said Callan with his autocratic tone as the Pride leader.
"Yeah, good luck with that," Gray snorted. "Look, she can't stay here. Let me take her with me. I promise to protect her. She is like a family to me. I will share whatever information she gave me," he pleaded.
"She will not leave here. Amber needs immediate help. Don't you consider her as your niece?" Merinus, his elder sister sounded furious.
Jonas had always admired and respected his Prima for the kind and strong woman she is. But when he sensed the protectiveness and love for his child from Merinus, she had also become his family and not just his prima.
"I'm not saying that I didn't care for Amber. I will do anything to help that child." Gray said, his hand raking his hair in frustration.
Jonas heard the conviction in Gray voice. The Tylers were known for their protectiveness and fierce loyalty to the Breed. But he was sure that Gray was hiding something.
Before Jonas was about to question him, Dane beat him to it. "What are you hiding, Gray?" asked Dane.
Gray sighed, hesitate before he asked them. "Have you ever heard the rumour about the Kyubi? The Ayakashi?"
