Pokémon Rescue Team
Arc 1: The Origins
Chapter 1: The Gathering
Atsui once had parents when he was a Charmander, but a wicked human-like entity named "Slenderman" had taken his parents captive. He wanted to save his parents from this monster, but he was too weak and was defeated very quickly. Slenderman laughed demonically and teleported away with his parents, leaving behind a dragon tooth necklace his father had.
Atsui picked up the necklace and punched the ground in his anger. His anger then turned to sadness, as it started to rain. He holds onto the necklace and his weakly-lit tail, and runs to an abandoned shack nearby, whimpering and sobbing on the way.
"What can I do?" He paces back and forth in the shack, "I'm so weak, I can't even save my own parents!" He groans loudly and sheds a tear.
"How am I gonna take care of myself?" He punches the doorframe of the shack's entrance, and starts to whimper, but then stops and holds his breath as he hears a bush rustle, and frantically looks around.
"W-who's there? Please show yourself!" he yelled. He grabs his tail and shoves it at the distant darkness, looking for the specter.
"We mean no harm." A voice answered back.
Atsui moves his tail to the left of the big bush.
"We know you're an orphan, and we want to help you." said another.
He moves his tail to the right.
"Because we are orphans too." One more spoke softly.
Atsui centers his tail at the bush, and walks slowly towards it.
"Can you please show yourselves?" his voice shivers.
There was a long, silent pause, then the bush rustled as three figures emerged from it: a female Chikorita, a male Piplup, and a male Pichu.
"He took our parents too, we know we are orphans because our parents didn't come back." The Pichu answered. The Charmander exhales and lowered his head.
"You mean that tall, white guy took your parents, too?"
"Yeah," the Piplup replies.
"He's such a scary man, and he's not even a trainer. He just takes other Pokémon!" The Chikorita looks at the ground solemnly, and twirls the dirt with her claw. Atsui tears up again, "Why would he do this to us?"
The Pichu glares at the moonlight piercing through the shack's tattered roof above them.
"See, that's what we want to find out. Maybe if we become stronger, we can defeat him, and we might even find our parents."
The Chikorita and Piplup were confused at the Pichu's theory. "How can we get stronger?"
"Such a question like that is foolish, you know." A raspy, slithery voice chimes in nonchalantly. A dark, tall figure mystically appears behind the four Pokémon as they turn around and gasp.
"You truly think you can get stronger? Stronger than me?" The figure chuckles maniacally.
"I'm sorry, petty fools, but you are surely mistaken."
"I-It's S-Slenderman!" squeaked the Pichu.
The four Pokémon screamed and gathered in fear. Slenderman began to laugh again under their shear fright at his appearance. He makes a formal bow in elegance, and softly chuckles as he recognizes the four Pokémon.
"Oh hello, fools. It's a pleasure to meet you all in your sorrows once again." He soon stops as the Pokémon take a battle stance.
"Oh? Do you really want to fight?" He starts to chuckle softly, then it evolves to a guffaw for a few moments until it goes back down in volume, as he wipes an apparent tear with a tentacle.
"You little creatures are nothing against me." He started, "You are all mere children! If I wanted to, I could have abducted you all instead!" He chuckles and sighs.
"However, I feel that your parents are the only things you care for in the first place, so why take the whole piece of pie, when the first, single slice is the most savory?" He paces around the Pokémon with his tentacles.
"After all, the first slice is the only good part of the whole." He stops and goes to Atsui, and raises the necklace with another tentacle. "Without your parents, you are nothing."
"No. You're wrong." Atsui spoke softly, clenching his fist with the necklace.
Slenderman tilts his blank head. "Pardon me, what did you say, little weakling?" He bends down towards Atsui and snickers softly.
"YOU'RE WRONG!" Atsui's open mouth began to flash and shoot out pure flames, using Flamethrower directly at Slenderman's blank face, throwing him out of the shack and into a nearby tree-trunk.
Slenderman inhales softly as he gets up in a painful grunt, brushing debris off his suit. "You fool. You will regret that." He crooks his head to one side, but then sighs softly.
"While my turn emerges in this stalemate, I have my hand on the other table; I have other, better things on my schedule than chatting up little orphans. Farewell, fools!" Slenderman levitates and hovers slowly away, but then stops to turn around and stare at the angry, smokey-mouthed Charmander.
"I will be back, you little troublemaker." He turns back around and teleports away. The other three Pokémon stare in awe as the Charmander breathes heavily until he slowly collapses in exhaustion.
"Guys! The Charmander!" The Chikorita gasped.
"Quick, we need to help him!" The Piplup sprints to Atsui and struggles to get him up. "Urgh! Guys, c'mon! Help me out here!"
The Chikorita and Pichu nod and sprint towards the fallen Charmander. The Piplup carries his left shoulder, the Pichu with his right, and the Chikorita helping him up with her vines.
Another figure emerges from the darkness as it picks up Atsui carefully and goes to the piercing moonlight, revealing a Grovyle, as well as a collected sigh of relief from the other three Pokémon.
"Sensei!" The Chikorita smiled. "Thank goodness you're here!"
The Grovyle smiled back and looked at the Charmander as he slowly opens his eyes.
"What happened?" Atsui groans.
"What happened was something very impressive, young Charmander." The Grovyle spoke softly.
The Charmander became startled and jumped off the Grovyle's arms, falling on the ground in a painful thud. The three little Pokémon gather with the Grovyle and help the Charmander up again.
"It's okay, he's a good guy!" Chikorita lightly pats Charmander's back.
"So to speak, yes," Grovyle scratches his back and blushes, "I actually take care of Chikorita, Piplup and Pichu."
"He's so awesome!" Pichu cheered, "He can cut a tree in half and not break a sweat!"
"He feeds us, protects us, gives us warmth, and basically keeps us happy!" Chikorita continues.
"He even has a training hall!" Piplup chimes in, "Every day, we practice our moves there to get us some steps closer to beating Slenderman!" Atsui gradually widens his eyes as the Pokémon compliment the modest Grovyle.
"That devious monster kidnaps other Pokémon's parents, leaving their children helpless." Grovyle picks up the Charmander and notices the necklace, "It seems that you are also a victim of his schemes."
Atsui nods slowly, "Y-Yes sir," he then sheds a tear "that's correct." He clutches the necklace and brings it towards his chest. The three Pokémon hug him in comfort.
Grovyle picks him up and wipes his tear. "It's really dangerous out here. If you would like, you could live with us. Your new move would become stronger with great training." Atsui springs his head up, looks at Grovyle with his glossy eyes, then to the other three Pokémon. He sniffles and starts to smile.
"O-okay!" He enthusiastically nods, as he puts on the necklace.
The four little Pokémon trail behind Grovyle towards their home, trudging through a big grass field. While his parents may have been taken, Atsui learned a new move, and can make it stronger with Grovyle's training instruction.
"So, what's your name?" The Chikorita points at Atsui.
"Huh?" He looks at the Chikorita and tilts his head.
"Well, you're gonna be with us from now on, right? It's only fair for us to know your name." The Chikorita smiles and laughs softly.
"My name is Atsui." He answered softly, twiddling his thumbs. "What about your names?"
"I am Sakura!" The Chikorita shakes Atsui's hand with a vine. "It's nice to meet you!"
The Piplup pats his chest. "I'm Boru!"
"My name's Kami!" The Pichu waves wildly at Atsui, then points at the Grovyle ahead of them. "His name is Miyagi, but we call him 'Sensei'!"
"It's nice to meet you guys." Atsui blushes shyly and smiles.
"Where are you from, Atsui?" Miyagi asks as he shuffles through the grass field.
Atsui darts his eyes to the left and scratches the back of his head. "The thing is, I don't know. I chased Slenderman for so long, I don't even know how far I travelled. I was so exhausted, I was too weak to fight him. All that was left was this necklace. I retreated to the abandoned shack ever since then."
"I see." Miyagi said after a pause. "Well, I have several maps in my home, if you need to figure out your location."
"T-Thank you, sir!" Atsui gratefully bows.
The four Pokémon became silent through the rest of the travel in the field until they came across a huge, hollow tree.
"Here we are," Miyagi sighs, "make yourself at home, Atsui."
The tree was very spacious inside its huge trunk. Inside to the far-left was the kitchen, full of berries, macarons, and other Pokémon delicacies. On the far-right was a cartography room, full of maps and expedition tools that even top-notch adventurers would not have. Immediately in front of the entrance are five beds, each decorated respectfully for each of the little Pokémon: the green and floral bed was Sakura's, a vacant, dark red-sheeted bed, then the bright yellow-sheeted bed being Kami's, the blue, wavy designs on the next being Boru's, and a green, bushy nest being Miyagi's.
"I had a feeling that someone would come visit sooner or later," Miyagi spoke as he entered the tree, "you may sleep in the red one; it's all your's."
"T-Thank you." Atsui goes towards the red bed and presses his hand against the mattress; it was fairly soft and plush.
"Alright, everyone." Miyagi claps, "We've had a rough day today, let's sleep for the morning ahead." The little Pokémon acknowledged and went to their beds. Atsui slowly climbs in the bed and silently lies down on it.
"Sleep well, dear friends." Grovyle yawns.
"Goodnight." The four little Pokémon replied softly. Atsui stares above him at the starry sky. He holds the necklace up towards the sky and sighs.
"Am I gonna be strong enough to beat him?" He questions himself, but shakes his head and turns to his left, looking at Sakura fast asleep, and smiled.
"I should sleep too," He thought to himself, "I have a lot to do tomorrow." He smiles and sighs, as he slowly closes his eyes, and falls asleep.
While he lost track of his parents, Atsui befriends four Pokémon and even learns a new move. Atsui meets Sakura, the kind-hearted Chikorita, Boru, the bold Piplup, Kami, the cheery Pichu, and Miyagi, the zen and care-taking Grovyle. The journey will be a long one, but can Atsui have the courage to take on Slenderman like the last time? Will his new move get stronger? What about their training? All this and more are answered as the story continues.
