Rose sighed.
It was already a little cold in October. She had both hands hidden under her sweatshirt and smiling with her hair blowing in the wind.
In the air the Gryffindor team flew, training for the first game of the year.
Albus was also among them, searching for the snitch here and there.
It was him. On top of the broom. Brown hair and eyes the same color. Rose smiled when she saw him and it seemed that the heart was racing all the time. He invited her to go watch the practice. She had been delighted with the idea. And even forgot that the next day she had to meet Malfoy for her detention.
She had taken her book for practice, not quite sure why, she knew perfectly well that she would not read even a line with him there.
Oliver Jones. She had a huge crush on him since last year. He was fantastic. Very talented and extremely funny.
That was the reason that led the library last week with high heels and more arranged than usual. He looked so out of reach. But she liked him.
So he dropped the broom, Rose sighed:
- So Rose? Are we ready?
- Of course! Seems legit, I think!
She said walking alongside him. He looked so perfect with her.
When Rose realized that she was in love with Oliver was because he had made her feel very normal. People looked at her sometimes. She had that history of the War with her parents ... Sometimes people expect too much of her. And Oliver was so normal for her ... So, real.
When both have reached the common room came to Albus and Jannie. They whispered something and immediately stopped talking as soon as they arrived.
- So? What are you guys up to? - Oliver asked when they sat together looking at them.
Rose had not told anyone but she felt that Jannie and Albus were secretly dating or in love for each other. Rose sometimes caught Jannie looking at those magazines about witches gossips about love advices, things that she usually did not like.
And they spent a lot of time talking almost secretly and although she tried to hide Rose saw that Jannie was not very well. She rarely showed people when she was sad or down but the people who knew her well realized.
Maybe she liked Albus, but he did not like her.
When they were younger, Rose didn't understand why Jannie didn't told her those things. But Jannie was like that. First thought on things for herself and when she felt like telling, she did. Nobody could force her.
So Rose gave her the space she needed until she felt ready to come and talk to her.
- Errrr ... we were talking about ... classes ... potions! - Said Jannie very embarrassed.
Of course she is embarrassed ... - Rose thought. She was talking to Albus about something that neither Rose nor Oliver knew, or she didn't wanted them to know. So Rose decided to help her.
- Yes, this year we have more then ever.
At the end of a conversation about teachers and study Jannie and Rose went to dinner:
- Where were you? - Asked Jannie.
-Oh! Oliver asked me to see the practice.
- Ahh ... - She said with a strange face. Rose thought she should stop talking about it. Speaking about relations with Jannie now had to be complicated.
The dinner was excited as usual and after that Albus and Rose went to the common room to do their homework. Jannie said she had to go do some work at the library.
- Have you told your parents about the detention? - He asked when they finished working on History of Magic.
- Err ... No. .. I'm afraid of their reaction... - She confessed.
Albus laughed.
- Ahahahahahah. I assume then that you are not going to tell them ... Turning into a badass, Rosie? Is it? Ahahahah
- Shut up! - Rose complained but with a smile. - I don't know ... you think they will find out?
- I don't know ... Perhaps McGonagall forgives you this one and doesn't says a thing to your parents ...
Rose sighed. They wouldn't find out, right? Talking about lying to her parents made her feel bad so she changed the subject:
- How's Jannie?
Albus was very confused. And with that Albus cheerful expression turned into a very serious one, that he rarely did:
- Errr ... She is ok ... I guess ...
Rose smiled and looked at him:
- You clearly feel something for her.
- What? No, do not! - Instantly flushed
Rose crossed her arms as she looked at him and smiled:
- Seriously?
- No. .. I can not. You do not understand it's .. ahh ... it's ...
-AH! There you are! - Jannie said exited when she arrived at the common room.
Rose exchanged an accomplice look with Albus. She knewit was a conversation to finish later. She looked at Jannie and said:
- Well! Someone likes studying, miss happiness!
Jannie blushed, but soon began to laugh.
After an animated conversation Jannie, Rose and Albus went to sleep. The next day she would have her the first detention with Malfoy.
The next day went by easily, and she found Malfoy in the hallway after they shared a class.
- Exited to see me later, Weasley? - He asked with a smirk.
Rose did not want to admit but I was happy to see that Malfoy went back to normal. On the day they had that fight the usual annoying insults turned in to something really serious and hurtful. Malfoy seemed to have returned to his usual shelf which meant that she could come and annoy him for the rest of the time. She loved annoying him. She really hated him. Not to want him dead, or a lot of pain ... Maybe a little pain. Ah! It doesn't matter.
-You wish, Malfoy! I'd rather spend the night with the giant squid.
- Like you didn't get that close! But don't get your hopes up, I bet she does not want to spend the night with you!
- Is it because you and her got into a serious relationship? That's because nobody else wants you! - It has enjoyed.
Malfoy laughed and replied:
- Only half the female population of this school! I don't expect you to understand you don't know a thing about relationships!
- Excuse me?
At this point Jannie pulled her grinning something like "enough already."
It is true that Rose had never had a boyfriend or something, her first kiss was with a muggle dude that she had had met last summer and never talked with him again.
But she knew about relationships, didn't she?
Malfoy, could always have a girl, if he wanted. But he just pick out some girls for proposes completely selfish and shallow, that made Rose have even a worst impression of him.
That afternoon, Rose, Albus and Jannie had lessons Defense Against the Dark Arts working defensive spells.
Later after dinner she saw Jannie out the back door of the room.
- Where are you going? - Asked Rose.
- Ah! I thought you were gone for detention ... I was just going down there, I forgot a book.
Rose didn't belive it but she knew how her friend worked. And she hoped it would perhaps had to do Jannie with Albus. So she pretended to believe her.
Leaning against a shelf was Scorpius Malfoy with a book in his hand and platinum blond hair over his eyes. Rose had to admit he was cute ... and hot. Large shoulders and a very pretty face with soft features but at the same time very strong and his blue eyes were very catchy.
But none of that changed his arrogant and spiteful personality that she hated so.
- Weasley. - Greeted him.
- Malfoy. - She said repaying the kindness.
He pointed to a pile of books and said:
- We have cataloged these books with dated edition, revision, author, and stuff like that ... and fix them decently.
Rose grimaced in annoyance and said:
- Come on, hurry it, then ...
They sat at a desk and Rose was beginning to catalog the books. She was really bored and it seemed that the stack of books never ended. When looked at Malfoy saw him with my eyes closed rocking chair without ever touching a book.
Rose complained right away:
- Unbelievable ! You still haven't cataloged a simgle book and I'm here working my ass out and already done half the books!
He stopped moving chair looked at her with a smirk and said:
- Oh, ok then! I assumed that you were so busy with that you wouldn't notice me.
Rose soon became angry:
- You are such an asshole! It will be the best for you if you just start working, don't even dream that I would do all this work for you!
- I never dreamed of anything remotely close to you, Weasley. And if I do dream of you Weasly, or I'm completely out of my mind or it's a nightmare.
She blushed and handed him the books:
- If you don't do your job I'm leaving. - Said with a tone of voice more determined than she actually was.
He laughed as if he knew what she was thinking and said:
- You never would do such a thing. You could be caught out in the middle of a detention. That leads to more detention, and a letter to your parents. And you, for a Gryffindor, are a coward.
Now Rose was angry. Nobody called her a coward, much less the Malfoy:
- I am not coward. - She said through her teeth very angry.
He returned to laugh:
- No? Then you are more stupid than I actually thought, if that is possible. Why don't you tell your quidditch buddy, then? What? Are you scared that Jones will friendzone you?
At that moment Rose was really red. How did he know of such a thing, she hadn't told anyone!
- Please! You look disgusting acting all cheesy and lame around him as a 9 years old when is going to an amusement park. It's gross to watch!
- Then don't watch! It's none of your business!
He laughed again:
- No, it's not. But it gives me immense pleasure to see what a fool you make of yourself . And it's great your ability to fear a simple answer. Not that I don't understand, I doubt anyone would want to date you, but if I were you, after a few spells to change my appearance, prepared myself for rejection for the rest of my life.
She looked at him with a lot of anger. He just called her a coward, and now was literally saying that she was ugly, and stupid to think that someone like Oliver ever be with her.
She stood up.
- And I, if I were you starting to prepare myself for the fact that nobody really likes you, so like your looks, money, or are forced to look at you all day because they share the same blood. Nobody likes you Malfoy. You'll die alone. At least I have friends.
Having said that, she stood up and was gone, leaving Malfoy looking at her very angry. She went by Madame Prince carefully to be caught and went to the dormitory.
Ridiculous!
How is that Malfoy would think SHE, Rose Weasley, was a coward. She was not a coward! Or was she?
Shee could not say how she felt about Oliver to him ... But why? "So you're scared! A Gryffindor who gives in to fear! "Could hear Malfoy's voice in her head.
She hated to be called a coward. She could not stand the fact that anyone could thought that. She had to tell Oliver how she felt. She would tell him that week. She was determined.
