AN: I was going to wait a week to update this like I normally do for my other stories but I had this written so I thought I'd just post it now. As I said last time, the first few chapters of this will be quite fluffy so sorry if they're a bit boring and short, but there'll be some drama when they get to McKinley! If you haven't already, please check out my other stories and enjoy the chapter!
Guest Replies:
Guest (2nd March): Thanks so much for looking at the cover lol! Anyway, hope you enjoy the next chapter.
Guest (3rd March): No, it isn't Faberry romance. There won't be any Puckleberry either because they're siblings. Might do a bit of Samchel at some point but there'll definitely be some Quick, Finchel, Brittana and Fuinn. Here's the update!
lovefanfic2326: Thanks Here's the update!
"Aah!" Despite Rachel's miniature size, her force almost knocked Quinn over! "I missed you more than life itself!"
Quinn giggled, her best friend was so melodramatic (she'd read the word in her advanced reading book (the one her daddy had bought her) the previous night). "I've missed you too, Rachie!"
Seeing Santana, Brittany, Finn, Sam and Mike on the other side of the playground, Rachel dragged Quinn over.
"Q!" Brittany squealed and even Santana grinned as they all hugged.
"I can't believe you two LEFT us for three whole months!" Rachel's voice held a tinge of anger now that she'd given out her hugs.
Sam pulled Rachel down onto the bench so that she was facing both him and his sister. "Sorry Rachie. But it's not our fault! And it's not like we were having fun. We were in Indiana. There is nothing fun there for kids!" Finn and Mike both sniggered a little at Sam's rant, but at Rachel's furious look they immediately stopped.
"Rach," Finn spoke up bravely. "Their parents made them go- it's not their fault."
"I guess," Rachel did a long dramatic sigh before hugging the twins. "Sowwy."
As the bell sounded, Quinn pulled Rachel to their new classroom, the boys just behind them and Santana and Brittany trailing behind, pinkies linked.
Distressed as they were to find out that the tables in their second grade classrooms were only for groups of four, things were about to get worse.
"Hello, class." The woman wasn't smiling like Mrs McMann always did, in fact she was frowning! "I'm going to be putting you into alphabetical order so I can learn your names." Santana didn't understand the whole phrase but she'd worked it out because she knew her alphabet. Brittany, Sam and Finn however, hadn't worked this out. They looked over to Mike, Rachel and Quinn (the smart ones of the group), but before any of them could answer, the mean new teacher pointed to the table nearest her. "Artie Abrams," The boy in the wheelchair wheeled himself over silently. "Jenna Bass, Mike Chang," Mike shrugged helplessly, then took his seat. "And Tina Cohen-Chang,"
She moved onto the next table, where none of them sat, and then the next, where Quinn, Sam and Finn all sat, along with a boy called Kurt that Rachel knew from both her ballet and Star Singerz classes. While upset that she was losing Quinn, Rachel was glad that two of the uh.. Less able members of their group had Quinn to help them.
Rachel was trying to work out where Santana, Brittany and herself would be sitting- thankfully both her and Brittany had last names beginning with P, so they'd probably be on the same table.
"Mercedes Jones, Santana Lopez," Santana grimaced and rolled her eyes at Rachel and Brittany when she heard Mercedes' name next to hers.
"Kyle Merez, Sugar Motta, Brittany Pierce, Rachel Puckerman-Berry," Great!
Rachel guided Brittany over to their table. As soon as Mrs Haverdane (the name their teacher eventually revealed) had given out their books she headed to the front of the class and dug straight into it. She started to write on the whiteboard when Brittany whispered to Rachel, "I don't get it."
Rachel gave her a sideways glance. "Britt, all she's written is WALT."
"Like disney?" Brittany asked as she doodled her cat in her practically glittering new book.
Rachel shook her head no in despair. "It means We Are Learning To."
Brittany frowned. "Mrs McMann never made us LEARN!" She said the word with disgust. "And why won't Mrs Mean just let us all sit together?"
Rachel gave Brittany's hand a comforting squeeze but then focussed her attention on the whiteboard, trying to block out Sugar Motta whining to the boy sitting next to her about chocolate quality in Ohio and how much better it was in Paris.
~~Girls Just Wanna Have Fun~~
10.05 seemed to take years to come around, but eventually the bell rang. Brittany was even faster than Rachel, running down the hall at the speed of light, pulling the brunette along behind her.
The group spent that short ten minute recess actually talking about what they'd done over summer vacation. Halfway through first grade, Puck had shown them a quiet place around the back of the playground that he let them use whenever (seeing as his group and Rachel's never had recess at the same time).
Santana and Brittany snuggled together, and the rest of them all sat close, leaning back against the wall.
"I hate her," Rachel said to Quinn who just nodded. "For splitting us up."
"Me too."
Ten minutes was much too short of a time, it gave them only five minutes or so before they had to sneak back onto the playground, in twos and threes so as not to attract attention. Usually the boys all went together and said they'd lost a football as their excuse if they got caught. Then Brittany and Santana would skip over, pinkies linked (as always), and just before the bell rang Rachel and Quinn would sneak back onto the playground. But that day, Finn wanted to partner with Rachel. It was clear Quinn wanted to argue, but they only had a couple of minutes left, so she went with Santana and Brittany. Mike and Sam snuck around the other side, and Rachel and Finn waited patiently.
It was strange, Rachel thought, how Finn had wanted to partner with her, and then said nothing.
"So how was your summer?" She asked to fill the silence.
"It was okay." He said. "I'm really mad at that lady for not letting us sit together." Rachel nodded. "San's really mad as well."
"Yes," Rachel agreed. "I thought she was going to punch Mrs HaverPAIN. San was really worried about Britt."
"But she doesn't mind so much," Finn continued, "because she knows you'll look after Britt."
Both of the seven year olds bolted upright at the bell's insistent ring. They dashed around the corner, only to see that the classes were just then walking back in. Wiping his forehead, Finn pulled Rachel into their class's line.
Only an hour and forty five minutes until a forty minute lunch break. They could do this!
