Hey! I'm back! Thanks for all your support!

Chapter 2

While I drove to Isabelle's apartment, I called my coach.

"Jace!" He said enthusiastically. "What does my MVP need now?" He said. I could practically hear him smiling.

"Hey coach, I can't come to practice today. Something's come up." I say.

"Anything to do with your little angel?" He asked, worry seeping into his voice.

"Yeah, something like that," I respond.

"Okay, Jace. Take as much time as you need. I'll tell the other guys."

"Thanks," And then I hung up.

A few minutes later, Emily spoke up.

"Daddy?" She asked in a small voice.

"Yeah baby, what's up?" I asked.

"Well, it's just, daddy, was that woman really my mommy?" She asked.

I sighed. "Yeah, baby, that was your mommy."

"Why doesn't she live with us daddy?"

"Well, baby, she broke daddy's heart when you were very little. But you know what?" I said.

"What daddy?" She asked with her eyes big with innocence.

"Even though mommy left me, you made it all better." I said smiling at her.

"Really daddy?" She asked excitedly.

"Yeah baby," I said.

After that, she seemed to be a lot happier. We pulled up Isabelle's house, and parked the car. I got out and helped Emily out of the car. I carried her up to the door and let Emily ring the doorbell. Isabelle opened the door and squealed.

"Emily!" She yelled.

"Auntie Isabelle!" Emily yelled back. Isabelle and I laughed.

"Okay, so there are cookies in the kitchen, and Paisley is upstairs okay? She's getting ready to swim so why don't you get your swimsuit out of the dresser and you can swim with her okay?"

"Okay!" Her eyes lit up and she dashed up to Paisley's room. Emily spent the night over here quite often. Paisley was less than six months older than Em, and they were best friends. Because of this Emily had clean clothes and a toothbrush here. Paisley had the same stuff at my place. Honestly, this was like Emily's second home.

As soon as Em ran out of the room, Isabelle looked over at me. My face fell, and I lost it. I completely lost it. Iz ran over and wrapped me up in a hug. I wrapped my arms around her and cried into her shoulder. I cried for several minutes. I couldn't stop, it was as if all the pain I'd felt for these last few years was finally escaping now.

I calmed down a while later. I pulled back from Isabelle's embrace and wiped my tears. Isabelle looked at me and asked a simple question.

"What happened?"

I took a deep breath and started telling her. "I saw Clary at Cold Stone. Em and I were getting ice cream before we came over here, and Clary was the cashier. Isabelle, she saw Emily," I said, starting to cry again. Isabelle understood what I meant and she hugged me again.

"Listen Jace, it's going to be okay. She's not going to take Emily from you. She's not like that," Isabelle said.

"I know, but I can't help wondering if she will take her from me. You didn't see the look on her face Iz," I said. I was determined not cry again, but this had to do with my baby girl, so I guess I was allowed to cry about losing her. I would not lose her. She's my everything, and I refuse to lose her.

Isabelle calmed me down and we enjoyed the rest of the night over there. We lit up a fire, and made s'mores. Eventually the girls fell asleep. Isabelle and I talked for a while later. Our conversation died down for a minute. Isabelle broke the silence.

"Can I ask you something Jace?"

"Sure," I said, chomping on my s'more.

"Do you think that you'll ever love Clary the way you did?" She asked, looking at me.

I sighed. "I don't think I ever stopped Isabelle. I think Emily just filled her spot so that I wouldn't notice it anymore."

Isabelle nodded. "I'm sorry Jace," She said with her a voice breaking at the end.

"For what?" I asked.

"For everything. I introduced you to her, and if I hadn't, you wouldn't have had to deal with the broken heart, you gave up so much for her. I just wish we hadn't even met her!" She cried. I scooted closer to her and put my arm around her.

"If you hadn't have introduced me to Clary, I wouldn't have Emily." I looked over at my sleeping baby girl and smiled. "And you wouldn't have Paisley either. If you never met Clary, you wouldn't have met Simon." I smiled at her, and she laughed.

"That's true, I don't regret meeting Simon or having Paisley. And I definitely don't regret Emily. Emily is a beautiful girl. You did well." She smiled up at me. We sat like that for a while.

"Hey Jace?" Iz said.

"Yeah?" I said.

"You know I love you right?" She asked.

"Yeah, I know little sis." I smiled. A while later, I picked up Emily and we drove home. I carried her inside and up to her room. I changed her into pajamas and tucked her into bed. Right before I walked out of the room, Emily spoke up.

"Daddy?" She asked quietly.

"What's up baby girl?" I asked.

"I love you." She said.

"I love you too baby girl." But she was already snoring quietly. I walked back over to her, and kissed her forehead. "More than you can imagine," I said. I turned and walked out of the room, closing her door quietly.
