Errors, errors as far as the eye can see. But I'm working to get them all corrected while tweaking things along the way. Hope to get this whole story corrected and posted by 2/15/2018-Peace
Lillian's point of view
What is wrong with our mother today?
I can amaze myself at times like this, the fact our mother has already started to lose her sanity. Of all days for it to begin to show it was our first day at Skyhigh. I poked her, trying to gain her attention, out of the corner of my eye I see the motion before I feel the pain of the sharply pointed elbow of my sister. It hurt but I laugh, we smile at each other before returning our attention to our mother.
"Mom," Layla said with a hidden smile.
We may not be identical, but we had an unbreakable connection, we could feel the other's general location and emotions. I guess it was what our mom referred to as our twin bond, we got vibes from each other concerning most things. An annoying part of that was we would either finish each other's sentences or say the exact same thing at the same time. It made us feel so stereotypical.
I cracked my fingers, we didn't have time for this. You see, I really didn't mind missing the bus entirely; I'd much rather be sleeping. In fact, I think I could hear my warm, soft bed calling me now. But no. I knew Layla was excited about this day, nervous but jittery with excitement.
My own voice amused as I snapped my fingers in her face calling out, "Earth to mom, look we really need to go next door and kidnap Will. Then catch the bus or do you need me to stay and call a doctor, either way, I'm good,"
I just gave her another look swinging my backpack onto my shoulder "Leave her, if she is like this when we get home we should call someone." Layla raised her brow but even she took her bag.
I like Will, don't get me wrong. He is a sweet guy but damn is he blind as all hell. Layla has been swooning after him for going on two years and he just doesn't see it, or he does and doesn't return her feelings. Which means I must kill him for rejecting my sweet sister.
My vans kick up the dirt on the path between Wills house and our house; I didn't think I could take hearing "my babies" or "just yesterday" anymore but I had to put up with it for just a few more minutes. I already accepted it would happen as soon as we set foot in our godfather and mothers house. Steve was like a father to us even though we already did have one. He may not be in our lives as much as we wished but we still had one.
Layla chimed, breaking the silence, "So, what are the odds this year of Will noticing that I am in fact a girl?" a question I have heard repeated many, many times.
She asks the very same question every few weeks, and my answer never changes, but today it was going to. She needed to take charge, if she wanted him she should go get him, take the risk of rejection.
I say, "Layla, you have been his best friend for years, he has never been very observant. He is dense when it comes to girls, I think you need to make the first move. It will turn out for the better, you know there is always a risk of rejection, but if you don't make the move it might be another year before he grows up. And by then another girl could have his attention." she looked deep in thought her eyes narrowed a little as she gave me a firm nod of agreement, but she will still need to be pushed into making any romantic type of move on him.
I just hoped when they did get together he saw her beauty not only the classic beauty she presented on the outside but the beauty she has inside as well, she deserved that. It was only a minute or two but we hit the back steps of the Commander and Jet Streams house.
"Maybe," she said in a whisper, her smile said everything, she would do it in time.
I was the first to walk in, we never needed to knock since we were like children to them. The Commander is my Godfather and Jetstream is Layla's Godmother after all. I make my way into the kitchen smelling Josie's cooking, she smiled as we sat at the small table in the kitchen. We watched as she plated food since Uncle Steve eats like a horse, and so does Will for that matter.
Josie says, "Good morning Ladies," her tone motherly, she was so sweet and caring when I think of her it brings a smell of fresh air mixed with a rainstorm, so soothing.
"Morning," we said together sounding eerie at times, we smirk at each other as Josie giggles at us.
*CRASH*
I jumped as did Layla and Josie, it sounded as if the ceiling was going to give in for a split second. But nothing happened so we sat back down, I was a bit bummed there was no action I could taunt Will about for next few months.
Josie went back to cooking, her tone the same as she offered, "Care for some breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausages or some juice?"
I love her. The major difference between Layla and I, is I like meat a lot. Mom and Layla are vegans so meat and other animal products are not something in our house very often or in copious amounts. I help myself to everything as Layla drinks some juice. Our mother's power is she can talk to all animals therefor Layla and her live a non-animal product lifestyle because animals dislike us eating them and their children and so on.
Layla was smiling, so I turned my head to see Will walking in, looking like he had been working out his face flushed, we have seen this a fair few times. I laughed, yeah-right string bean man. Will weight lifting is comedy gold, he tries to push his power out when all he needed to do was wait.
Steve, The Commander greets us with a smile, "Hello Lilypad, Layla," kissing my forehead then hers.
"Sup," I said back as Layla smiled at him.
Josie just had to chime in, "Oh, wasn't it just yesterday, ya'll played naked in the kiddy pool together," her eyes glazed over as she skimmed her own memories, my face fell.
What is up with our mother's today? Yay, let us all reminisce and wallow in memories, for fun or to make us sad?
I was already near the front door when I spoke, "Well that's our cue, let's go,"
I was the first out of the house, Layla was next with Will bringing up the rear a plate of food in his hands as we rushed to our new bus stop.
This year had to be better, I had to be better. The time for me to mess up was gone. Magenta and I got arrested a few months back, I was drinking and so was she, we got into a fight with some people; those people got hurt. I was in a very bad place, and she wasn't letting me be there alone, we owed our freedom and a clean record to my Godfather.
Now we wait next to the light post, I listen to Layla but my eyes are on Will with the way he is looking at her. She babbled on about saving man and womankind he just looks at her like she hung the moon, right then and there I knew it was going to be them until they died.
Again, Will is dense, a rock as more common sense than this fool. Will muttered, "Is this the bus to Sky High?"
"Ssshh, do you want every super Villain to know? Get in freshman what's your name?" The bus driver asked him a look of disbelief written on his face.
Will looked petrified now, "William Stronghold, sir," even his tone was shaking.
The driver stood now, he firm and steady as if talking to a drill sergeant or someone who was actually important, "The Commander and Jet Streams son, welcome aboard. I am Ron bus driver," oh, no. A bus driver with a hero like worship.
I cut into this, "Well Stronghold, move it so I can sit, you can sign his hat later," I pushed Will hard. He stumbled down the aisle taking a seat next to Zach and Ethan while I sit with Magenta, Layla with Sparrow, Sam and Siren sit together. The boys just sit with whomever, I usually sit with Sparrow. These people are so fucking annoying but they are my best friends, so it was ride or die with them, no matter what. I would kill them or kill them, heads, tails.
Zach ranted because that was just Zach, "I will blow Boomer's mind, just wait and see," I swear he needs an extra bus just for his ego, Magenta was not doing her job.
"No, trouble this year right Magenta and that goes for you too Lily," Sparrow said giving us a serene look. Magenta snorts loudly, I just smiled, because I refuse to answer on the grounds I will incriminate myself even if we had planned to do our best to drop the reputation we had.
Well if you love screaming and flying buses then Sky high is your school. The ride was much better once in the air, the clouds passing us by as the bus flew through the chilled air, the school was in sight. I was expecting a huge bump but Ron was good at his job since it was a slight hiccup. We landed pulling into the designated parking spot. Students could be seen milling around and walking into the school; we all stood ready to file off and get this day started.
"Remember the bus waits for no one, except you Will Stronghold. If you're late or early or just need to talk," Ron bus driver says as we file off, some of us trying to hide our laughter as Will blushes.
When I got off, I turned seeing Ron hand Will a business card, Ron is now Vice President of the Will Stronghold fan club as Layla is still reigning President, but now she has stiff competition.
We don't even make it ten feet from the bus before some upperclassmen start herding us; I look down to see no dirt on my clothes; they're lucky for that small blessing. The speedster comes to a stop next to another kid. My black skinnies with rips showing the neon green lace beneath, my green tang top showing my midriff, with my black hoodie in my hands are all still dirt free, I didn't mind dirt just not when I tried to look nice. I would have dirtied my record already if he messed up my outfit.
The taller boy says, "Welcome to Sky high, I am Lash. I will be collecting the fifteen-dollar new student fee," this was pure bullshit, I narrow my eyes.
Ethan said timidly. "I didn't read anything about a new student fee," he was shy and reserved but an all-around great person, he was loyal and trustworthy.
I spoke, Magenta coming to a stop right next to me, "Because he is lying Ethan, he thinks just because we're freshmen and new here we must be naive enough to believe him and the shit that comes from his putrid mouth." I said rolling my eyes at the guy named Dash.
Dash smirked, "Hey sexy, the names Lash," the other raised his brow as he spoke, why is he flirting with me?
I snapped, "So? Am I supposed to give a fuck?" I snarled, turning my attention from him.
Another girl walked up to us, she had on too much pink; it was disgusting to my eyes, it was bright pink not the pale pink Sparrow wears. She went on ranting about rules, which I most likely will not follow, so I tuned her voice out for the most part.
Gwen smiled while she talked, "Now my time at Sky high was the best if you follow these simple rules yours will be too," her voice too damn happy for my liking.
I was really getting ticked off seeing Will, and the way he looks at Grayson. I pulled out my Eragon book from my bag, taking aim at the back of his head giving it a nice solid whack. I had a look of pure satisfaction on my face, when he turned I wore a concerned look as to who hit him, his eyes watering in pain his hand holding the back of his head.
"Thanks," was whispered in my ear.
Grayson alerted us we needed to make our way to the gym for our power placement, some newbies walked together as they tried to find a place to fit in. My friends and I walked in our large group chatting in low voices. If I was an outsider looking in, I would say we looked like zoo animals doing a parade for the public, the halls filled with upper-classmen. I noticed the kid, Dash leaning against a locker talking to a guy, he has a dark red streak in his long hair, his skin was olive toned his eyes dark and cold as he gazed at us as we neared them.
Dash spoke as we got closer 'Hey there," his eyes on me as I gaged putting my head-on Sam.
I flipped him off, saying "Get bent, Dash. You have no chance." the guy next to him laughed shoving Dash into his locker, his eyes shined bright.
"My names Lash," he called out but it made no real difference to me what his real name was.
I called back before we are too far from them, "Still don't give a fuck." the same deep laugh was heard as Lash cursed.
Layla started venting at the last possible minute, "I personally find it very unfair that they put us on display, then having to show our powers for either Hero or Hero support, I find it unjust," it sucked but still we had to, if you don't then they stick you in hero support.
I say, "Calm Little flower, or do you need to go see Nurse Spex?" walking with her hand in mine to keep her calm enough. Siren laughed with the rest of us Layla could be fierce when needed to be, she would get better in time.
30 minutes later- Power placement
One dull long ass speech later we start our power placement; Little Larry was the first hero. I was worried knowing, Layla will refuse to show her power this would lead to a final result separating us, one in hero support one in a hero.
Boomer shouted, "Samantha Zee, show me your power!"
Poor Sam she looked ready to puke, she made miniature looking fireworks come from her hands. I knew she could do much better but she wanted to be in hero support like her mother, it blew they didn't show what they are truly able to do.
"SIDEKICK," Coach Boomer called out, I was going to have a headache by the end of class. How fucking fantastic.
A few people later, my friends have been sorted except Will, Layla, and I. Sparrow with her telepathic ability was in Hero class. Magenta was also put in Hero class for her animal transformations. Siren with her sonic scream was a hero; Chang with invisibility was also a hero. Sam and Trace could be heroes but Trace followed his girl into hero support. Ethan melted and was put into hero support; I laughed at Zach the human glowworm as he was made a sidekick.
Boomer says, "Layla Williams, show me your power," we all watched her walk up to the stage her back was straight her head held high it took guts to stand up for yourself, she calmly talked to Coach Boomer.
Layla says with confidence, "I refuse to show you my power, I believe only in life or death should they be used,"
"Not going to show me your power hippie," Coach Boom said his voice condescending and full of it, she was a good-natured person, not every single hero wanted to fight, there are other ways of solving issues without violence.
"I won't," she replied standing a little bit straighter.
Coach looked pissed screaming, "SIDEKICK," Layla's hair blew back, he would pay for yelling at her, my eye twitched. He was an ass.
Coach Boom called out, "After lunch, you're next Stronghold,"
I smirked watching as Will turned a nasty shade of green; I knew he has not received his powers yet, he would if he didn't try and force them out he was so uncomfortable with himself. I would take some pleasure in seeing him forced into hero support, then the other half would feel bad. Probably.
