Takes place after Episode 83. Lloyd is severely hurt, both physically and mentally. Kai takes this opportunity to spend a moment alone with him.
"Lloyd!" Nya cried as the Bounty landed on the sand near Kryptarium.
Lloyd had gotten bruised all over. The person Lloyd had thought to be his father only turned out to be a mindless zombie and a pawn of Harumi. His eyes were red from the heartwrenching sobs that shook him when he came to terms with what had just happened.
"Oh, Lloyd! Oh my gosh!" Kai was the first to sprint down the lane over to him. He and Lloyd were as close as siblings. He stayed beside him as the ninja took the Chosen One to the infirmary on the Bounty.
Now, Lloyd was lying on the bed, his head facing the ceiling. Kai was alone in the room with him.
"K-Kai..." Lloyd spoke weakly. "Did you see the battle?"
"We all did..." Kai sighed. "And so did everyone in Ninjago."
Lloyd's eyes shot wide open. "What?!"
"It was Harumi..." Kai muttered.
"How dare she... But the battle...it was supposed to be between Father and I... About that..." He couldn't take it anymore and started to cry. His "father's" last words to him—'I have no son'—struck him hard. Very hard. "H-He disowned me...he said he didn't have a son... Those words struck me very deep... I can't take it... I'm sorry... I should've listened..."
"Lloyd, calm down, it's alright... I know how much you love your father... It's heartbreaking to think that he isn't the same as you remember him to be..." Kai sat down next to him on the bed, careful not to bring him harm. His hair was now down, as he had taken a shower just thirty minutes earlier and didn't bother to slick his hair up into his usual fire-esque spikes. He was more focused on how Lloyd was faring.
"I want this all to end..." Lloyd cried. "I want him back, Kai...I just want my father back..."
Kai took his hand. "You let your feelings control you..."
"I know...and I miss him..."
"You have. For a long time..."
"Kai...I can't let go...Not after what Mystaké told me...not after what Rumi told me... I had hopes that my father would come back for real...to actually be my father again... I cherish those moments too deeply...too fondly... I don't deserve to lose him again... I never deserved any of this... I never wanted to be the Green Ninja in the first place!" He growled softly.
"Lloyd..." Kai spoke in a soft whisper. "Come here..."
"I-It really h-hurts..." Lloyd whimpered.
"I know, Lloyd... Here, I have something to show you." Kai took out a note written by Garmadon, just before he left after gaining the four fangblades. "Your father wrote this for me so many years ago." He read the note aloud:
"'Kai,
Truly I thank you for what you did for me yesterday. Although I am quite distressed over the prophecy now, as Lloyd and I are pitted against each other for the fate of the world, I am greatly indebted to you for saving his life.
And so I ask. Please take care of him. I want nothing more than to stay and be the father he barely ever had, but I cannot. I fear that the darkness will only further take control over me. I want to express the care and compassion I still have for him before it is too late. I never did wish to become evil in the first place, and I feel that it is better for you to become close with my son. At first, I was hesitant to trust you, but when you saved him, I accepted it.
You have your mother's compassion and your father's determination to bring justice to this world. I knew your parents well. We were close. Very close. And I feel that you and Lloyd will become the same way.
I love Lloyd dearly with all my soul. I never want him to be put in harm's way. No matter what my evil side tells me, I do truly accept defeat. He has already done what I had wanted from the very beginning. I want to stay, but I fear it will only cause more harm than good. Lloyd was always a good person at heart. I am so proud of him, even if we are now on opposite sides.
Deep regards,
Garmadon'"
Lloyd started to tear up. The memory of his father always made him so emotional. I love you so much, Father...I don't want to lose you again...
"Oh, Lloyd..." Kai embraced him. "It's gonna be okay..."
"Hopefully..." Lloyd replies. "I don't want to have to fight him and..." He couldn't bear to finish.
"You're strong, Lloyd. We'll figure this out. Together."
Lloyd smiled gratefully—he was glad to have such supportive friends and teammates. He couldn't have asked for anything better.
