Author note: Hey guys sorry about extremely late update. Hadn't been feeling well lately but im back nows. Also plot twist that goes directly hand in hand with the Anime but wut is it? Read and find out.
I was still in the cryochamber staring at the blonde dude with wings. The chamber was tilted at somewhat of a forty-five degree angle, and the inside looked very simple with padding.
"Ok quick questions, one who are you? Two where am I? And three what are we supposed to begin?" I asked him
He stood before me as if he owned my very soul and acted like he was a god, "Why I am of no importance to you Raven. As for your other questions you are back in the Synapse your home. And we are supposed to begin a deal you set up before entering that capsule. So shall we begin?" he said the last part with a smirk and snapped his fingers.
The sound echoed throughout the massive cylindrical building with design layout like an inside out screw, each floor just another part of the continuing spiral upwards. Apparently we were on an upper floor because seemingly from the ground behind the man came two quickly ascending humanoid like creatures.
They both landed on either side of him and they looked almost exactly the same. Each one was a female and had on a sort of skin tight black and white jumpsuit with an intercut design. They were about the same height as him too, the wings on their backs looked like they were made from brown colored eagle feathers. Their hair cut short reaching only as far as their cheekbones. Their eyes both looked cold and cruel. With the little differences between them being their slight change in skin tone, eye color and hair color. Everything else was the same.
"What can we do for you, Master?" they both said in unison with sort of monotone voices.
He looked at both of them and pointed at me, "Take our dear friend Raven to Daidalos. He's ready for his treatment." He said and the two women nodded latching their hands on either one of my arms with an iron grip.
"Hey let go of me! What are you going to do to me?!" I started screaming slipping into panic mode.
"Don't worry Raven! It won't be that bad, I hope." He said with a chuckle at the end and I was carried off over the edge and straight down. As the wind whistled through my face I realized I was wearing a freaking Toga or something like it at least. But I didn't care, right now I was being throttled straight down seemingly to my utter doom. I couldn't do much right now except for struggling, and watching the corkscrew like floor layout pass by. After a few more seconds of this we suddenly flew horizontally and out a large doorway. What I say frankly amazed me.
There were tons of these spinning top shaped platforms scattered around in the sky, some small and most large. There were different structures on each one as well, ranging from small farms on some to large mansion like houses on others. There was even one that seemed to be In the middle of all of them, it had some sort of Greek temple like structure built on it. Then we went over the side and looking down I saw that it was out of the question of breaking free to jump to the ground, as it was miles below me. I still struggled slightly however and I began to gain feeling throughout my body, with so new attachments that I hadn't noticed yet. Looking backwards I saw the pearl white angel wings that clung to my back. Out of the rest I saw I guess it was the norm to have these, but it freaked me out just a bit. Then we finally came to a rugged halt onto other of the slightly smaller platforms.
On this one it had a sort of dome like structure, kind of like one of those observatories use to look at stars, but this seemed more lab like.
"Ok, so why did you guys bring me here?" I tried to ask but I was met with blank silence.
Sighing I wasn't going to bother asking again. And they dragged me along inside the building and let go turning and flying off to who knows where. Looking around it was defiantly a lab. And I saw more of those chambers lined up along the wall. But these ones had names one tiny metal signs. Each one with a name.
"Ikaros, Nymph, Raven, Astraea." I read off the names and looked at the capsules, each one of them open and empty. I looked down more and saw that there were some others not yet open, and before I could look someone was behind me.
Turning around I saw a very blue long haired woman sitting in a chair in front of a control panel, flashing and showing all kinds of statistics. The blue hair shadowed her facial features like the blonde dude's hair did. She even wore a long white dress and had the same pearl white wings so far everyone I saw had.
"Hello Raven, my name is Daidalos. Are you ready to begin the procedure?" she asked in a kind voice, she seemed more friendly and kind that the other guy who seemed to only want to boss people around.
"Um… what are we talking about here exactly?" I asked still wanting answers.
"well before you went into the Lync Chamber, we asked you if you would like to become an original once you had returned and you responded with a yes." She explained.
"Ok but what's an Original?" I asked starting to look at the chambers again.
"An Original is the first of their kind to be created. Think of it as being a prototype, so to speak." She said still with a kind voice.
"Ok that I understand, but first. Will this be painful and what exactly am I being a prototype of?" I asked carefully.
"Well you are being the prototype of Type Gamma. An assassin Angeloid. And no you will not experience too much pain." She said not sounding too proud of what it was.
"That sounds nice, I guess. And I'm guessing an Angeloid is those two that brought me in here?" I stated.
She nodded and gestured towards the capsule with my name on it, literally, "Now then shall we begin? You have Training starting tomorrow"
-One Week Later-
"Shit!" I yelled as a crossbow bolt whizzed past scraping my shoulder, now stinging from the pain. I was currently soaring low in the night sky staying near to the tree tops. And in pursuit was a pair of Angeloids with crossbows glaring at me with one reloading and the other taking aim.
"I have to find cover quickly." I muttered and dived into the trees managing the miss the bolt as it flew over my head. I quickly took refuge behind a large tree and faced it making sure I was on the darkest side I then spread my now raven black wings and wrapped them around the trunk and stood still. I currently had on a long black clock with the collar reaching up like a face guard and a hood to help conceal myself. I then heard a rush of wind as two objects flew past me. Apparently I had fooled them now's my time to attack.
I quietly reached behind me in my cloak and grabbed a metal shaft. Pulling it out I was met with a scythe. The shaft was a light gray color attached to the wicked sharp yet jagged blade. It had three sort of thorns protruding backwards away from the blade. The head containing the blade was mostly black and was embedded with a medium sized purple amethyst shaped like a sphere. Holding the weapon my hand behind me and the blade in front of my shins I looked in the direction of the two Angeloids.
"Time for my turn." I muttered monotone like voice. I leapt off catching the wind in my wings and bolted towards them on silent wings almost like an owl in pursuit for its prey.
"Attack swiftly and precisely" I thought as I came up behind one raising the scythe. I quickly folded in my wings and barrel rolled gaining momentum and plunged the scythe in a deadly downward swipe. Thanks to the surprise attack I landed a solid blow to the first one's torso and clipping a wing making it unable to continue as it plummeted towards the hard ground. Of course she had let out a pain filled scream attracting the attention of the other one as she let loose a bolt simultaneously charging with a sword.
Deflecting the bolt with the blade of my scythe I quickly pointed my hand forward towards the angeloid and flicked my wrist sending out three darts connected to each one was piano wire. The darts quickly closed the gap wrapping around the angeloid and causing it to plummet as well as getting cut by the wire itself.
The next thing I knew absolutely everything around me started to shake, things vibrating creating zigzags then it was just a large bare room with nothing in it but its white walls and me. Even I had changed, my cloak and any attire I had on now vanished replaced with a white shirt and white pants. My wings however were still raven black, but I had lost the weaponry I previously used so now my hand was clasped on air. I section in the wall off to my right then opened and in stepped Daidalos.
"That was your best simulation yet, Raven. I think we've figured out which weapons will work best with you. Including battle attire." She said looking me over.
"Hmph… You could have dampened down the pain you know, it was just a simulation after all. But I feel as though I should also have a short blade other than just the scythe." I explained
"Of course, wouldn't want it to be completely over once they got past that. I'll equip you with a small dagger of course but you still have to be careful." She said almost motherly.
I then looked to my right wrist specifically towards the shackle and chain bound on it, "And I still don't understand why I have to have this on me." I said.
She looked solemnly at it as if it made her sad, "it is mandatory for Angeloids to have a master within the first two weeks of their creation. It's not a thing I generally like so I try to find a kind place for them to go." She said.
I looked at the shackle and then back up, "Hey when can I meet the others? I remember seeing other names other than mine." I asked curiously. It had been a week and I haven't even caught a glance of the other originals.
"In time you will meet them. But first we must talk somewhere more private." She said leaving the room so I followed. We walked back into the lab that I had first stepped into a week ago. It was more like home now more than anything seeing how I spent most of my time in this building.
"Do you remember seeing the name Ikaros among the signs, Raven?" she asked me sitting in a chair near the control panel.
"Yes, what about it?" I asked suspiciously.
"She is being scheduled for decommissioning in two days' time and has been confined as of now. I want you to free her and make sure she gets somewhere safe, somewhere she can be happy." She explained to me.
"It seems you hold her as though she were your child Daidalos…" I said.
"I do and all I want right now is for her to be safe and happy with a caring master. So this is what you are going to do." She started and I sat down listening.
"Tonight I will equip the program for your armor, and weapons to which you may summon them at your leisure. You will then go to the small platform she is chained on and cut the chain on her shackle. This will sever the bond between her and the current master. Once this is done you must get her out of there. Is this understood?" she said each step clearly as to make sure I understood.
I nodded, "Of course, consider it done." So for the rest of the day I relaxed around the lab and did a few more simulations to make sure I'm prepared with my equipment. It was tough work. A few mistakes here and there as the simulations slowly became harder. But it was time consuming at least. Next thing I knew it was nearly time to head out. After finishing my last simulation I walked into the lab and awaited Daidalos.
She came in from some upper area of the building and sat ready at the control panel, "Alright get in the capsule, it won't take long and you'll just feel a slight tingle." She said swiftly and I obeyed.
Entering the capsule it closed as is laid down and it tilted back into a recess in the wall. It was then filled with a soft glow of colors. It frankly reminded me of Lest's prismatic eyes. A soft pang hit me then, "I wonder if I'll see him again, my temporary brother." I thought and then a slight pain shot through chest making me grimace.
Then the capsule returned to a stationary mode and opened up to allow access out. I didn't feel any different except I did notice red outlining the top of my vision.
"I altered your hair color for the battle mode and it seems to be slightly showing even when you're not in that state." Daidalos said
"So, when do I head out?" I asked a bit impatiently.
"You leave in an hour, and don't worry about escape, you'll find your exit." She explained and then motioned to my wrist. "If you wish to have a master, you must first take hold of them and utter the command, 'Imprint' this will start the sequence."
I looked at it, "Thanks, I'll take head to that information."
-An Hour later-
I now flew through the floating platforms of the Synapse making sure to stay hidden and in the shadows as I made my way to a very small looking platform. From far away it looked like it only held an open air building made from pillars and a roof. But as I got closer I saw the chains snaking about each pillar and a humanoid shape in the midst of it all. The pillars also seemed to glow blue, like they had circuits coursing through them.
Then I noticed something, I sort of black mass slowly moving around in the sky. I could see birds calmly flying around it and even in some cases into it. I even saw bird come from the black mass. Where it went I had no clue but it was apparently safe after all the birds seemed to like it. I then reached a stretch where there would be no more cover, checking in all directions I flew as fast as I could towards the small platform. With the wind in my face certain things blurred as I focused on one soul thing, getting Ikaros free.
I finally made it to the platform and inspected the situation. And from what I could see is that all the chains were just one connected to a shackle on the girl's neck in the center.
"This seems simple enough, sever the chain and she's free." I said then looking at my attire, I was still in my lounging cloths.
"Danmmit… how do I summon my equipment again? God this is horrible timing." I muttered at myself stupidly. Then my vision turned odd, it became rimmed with a sort of purple targeting system and six little target icons flashed into view like some sort of first person game. Next thing I know I go a bit rainbow mode and starting from my feet my attire completely changed. It started with pure black combat boots with a white outline. Coming next was black jeans with crisscrossing belts on my right leg just below the knee. I was then given I black shirt the sleeve going just a little past my elbow before becoming a light gray cuff. Next was my not so fancy almost full body cloak. It split off in four different directions at the end each split having the option the zip and conceal more. The collar still reaching up like a faceguard and my hood engulfing the rest of my head. Possibly the only thing anyone would see of me would be my forearms, eyes and the tips of my hair.
Reaching back I grabbed at air until my scythe appeared in my hand, the smooth amethyst glistening in the light. Then I looked towards Ikaros, she looked kind and gentle although she seemed to be unconscious with her head hung down she also had her arms spread out wrapped in chains. I honestly felt sorry for her, no one should be treated like this. I slowly approached her and wondered what made her unique from others. So far all I could tell was that she defiantly had a different suit. It was awkward to look as her chest was very exposed so I averted my eyes from that area. I had then noticed her wings. It didn't seem that they were made from feathers, they looked more like pink fluff.
Reverting my mind back to the task at hand I looked for the black mass I had seen previously until I found it floating directly beneath the platform. It was now or never. I readied my scythe and in my vision the like targets fixated themselves on various chains and I was greeted with a locked on sign. Tightening my grip on my scythe I hacked away at the various places on the chines I was locked on to. As I cut them the chains shook and entire sections vanished in a dazzling sparkle. As I cut the last one I was about to grab Ikaros until the small platform started rumbling.
"Crap what's going on?!" I thought just as the floor beneath my feet vanished along with the roof. The only thing left was the pillars, Ikaros and me as we began our free fall into the black void. With the wind whistling in my ears I couldn't hear much but what I saw was at least twelve pillars and a girl plummeting into the void along with me.
"Make sure she gets somewhere safe." I heard this message ring out through my head and so I tried to angle my decent towards her. As I focused on Ikaros her pink hair and wings fluttered about and then she fazed through the surface of the void, wherever she touched was outlined in an array of prismatic colors.
"Crap, I have to catch up." I muttered tucking in my wings and willing my scythe away before crossing my arms in front of my chest. My decent quickly accelerated as the wind greedily grabbed at the edges of my cloak. The black void was coming up now and so was a large pillar behind me. I grabbed my hood and pulled it over my face stopping a rush of air flowing into my cloak and I felt myself fall a bit faster. Then a chilled rush ran over my body from head to toe and the atmosphere felt different as well. Lifting my hood I was met with a familiar sight.
"I-I'm back in Sorami?" I muttered as I looked about spreading my arms and legs slowing my fall. I saw the surrounding mountains and somewhat past them from my current height. The buildings may have looked miniscule from here but I recognized the large Sakura tree directly below me in a small clearing on a hill. I also saw Ikaros plummeting to the ground she looked like a shooting star as there was a yellow streak following her. It was also conveniently night time here.
"Nowhere is possibly safer than Sorami. It's defiantly better than Synapse I guess." I muttered to myself I then noticed another shape in the area below and it was moving around frantically. "Crap that better not be a civilian!" I thought irritably then the shape ran toward Ikaros, who had recently crash landed causing a large crater. The shape stood at the edge of the crater seemingly contemplating approaching Ikaros. Then the first Pillar pierced the earth and the civilian fled away from the crater. I then looked up at the many pillars falling and I grabbed my scythe seemingly from air and readied myself above them.
"I have to make sure none of those hit them." I thought as is smacked the first one out of the way and to my dismay the first few I smacked towards the direction of the civilian. But on the bright side the caused them to turn back and start helping Ikaros, but this distracted me as a pillar plummeted deadly close to the two.
"Dammit!" I started after the pillar but it was already too far off. Then to my surprise, Ikaros started moving on her own as she grabbed to Civilian by the torso and sored high into the air. As I was plummeting they were headed in my direction so I straightened out and tried to look like one of the pillars. But this was pointless as the civilian's attention would be focused on Ikaros as they were carried off. As they passed I now noticed the civilian was a male teenager. Somewhere around my age in fact. I couldn't see his face past his dark hair so if I had seen him before I wouldn't know who it was.
Next the ground was coming up so I quickly unfurled my wings and glided down until I has flying horizontally merely three feet off the ground. I continued this until I reached the tree line and then quickly came to a halt making sure I was out of sight.
Looking back at the two the only thing that went through my head was, "This could be bad…" then just to make things worse I felt someone watching me.
Spinning around my black raven-like wings fluttered about before falling apart and vanishing from sight, only a few feathers remained falling slowly to the ground. And what I saw surprised me a bit, light brown slightly messy hair reaching her shoulders framing a curious face with emerald green eyes.
"Skyla?..." I muttered questionably to myself not sure if she herd.
"Raven?" she asked out loud uncertainty in her voice.
"So much for being discreet, but how does she remember me?" I thought. Then I looked back for Ikaros and that boy and noticed they were now gone.
My shoulders slacked as I lowered my guard and turned back to face Skyla, I mentally willed for my attired to revert to normal and it did. A soft flash of prismatic colors surrounded me and my cloths reverted back to the plain white shirt and pants with no shoes that I had previously worn.
"So, How your week been Skyla?" I asked as casually as I could with a slight smirk, "This is going to be tough to explain…" and I mentally sighed at this thought.
