Chapter 1
Reapers.
The creatures that guides souls or in their very own term- reap souls. They are creatures that remain neutral, only doing their job without bias. They show no pity to the souls they reap, even if they are going to beg and cry to have them another chance to live again or if they are children that died in an early age or have died without opening their eyes first. They would lead them to Ljusalfheim or Hel- where other creatures would be waiting.
Their worst enemies are the Demons. Demons eat souls of the humans thus making it a problem for the Reapers if they were to come back without the souls they are assigned to get.
The night is dark and peaceful as the moon shone brightly- basking the entire Svartalfheim its gentle light. The wind blew gently to the north as the birds of the night sung a low song as one Sawada Iemitsu stood in near his sleeping wife in one of the private rooms of Namimori Hospital. He couldn't help but feel a sense of poetic irony about the night.
It seemed as if nature itself celebrated the birth of a Sky.
It had been a long and gruesome day. After Nana had gone into labor that night, Iemitsu had refused to leave her side despite the fruitless and feeble attempts from the nurse and doctors or the death threats his wife would throw at him every time she was seized with pain. Thinking back, Iemitsu smiled at how his wife acted. She would hold his hand in a death grip and would scream, cry, yell and attempt to hit him every time he said something seemly witty, humorous or even stupid. Very unlike the kind, understanding, peaceful, sweet and strong Sawada Nana of the norm.
"She is coming! I can see her head." The doctor said relief shown on his face. "Just one more-" Before he could even say the word, Nana glare at him as she scream.
"Don't you dare sat push!" Nana warned as she heaves one last time. Silence filled the chaotic room as almost everyone stopped moving. Suddenly, a high-pitched cry broke the silence.
A nurse hurriedly took the baby and cleaned it, washing the blood away. After a few minutes or so, she came back with the baby wrapped in a pink blanket in hand and handed it to the tired mother. "Congratulations, ma'am and sir. You have a healthy baby girl."
Nana smiled as she held her child closer. Her child, so small and delicate she is. Nana wonder how could she and Iemitsu make such a fragile little reaper. Her daughter's eyes flutter open revealing honey brown eyes. "She's so beautiful..." She murmured awestruck at the sight of her and Iemitsu's child.
"Yeah." Iemitsu nodded in agreement. His musky yellow eyes never leaving his cute daughter's eyes as though if he breaks the eye contact with the young reaper she would disappear. "What should we name her, Nana?"
Nana smiled, looking up to her husband. Her aura showed how happy she is. Her eyes, although tired and exhausted, showed her happiness and she holds her- their daughter. "Oh, I know, dear. Her name will be Tsunayuki. Sawada Tsunayuki." She caressed her child, Tsunayuki's, cheek lovingly as they watch as her eyes fluttered close seemingly put to sleep with her mother's gentle caress.
"Sawada Tsunayuki." Iemitsu tested the name of his... their child, liking how their child's name rolled out of his tongue. He liked it. Just perfect for their little pure girl.
A four year old brunette giggles and laughs happily as she ran through the playground of Namimori. She wants to explore the place where she, from now on, would usually play at. She smiles brightly at that thought.
The Namimori Park looks like any other parks you would see in Midgard. It has swings and slides and other things you would usually see in the park, however, the only thing that differs from Midgard's park is the flames that floats and dance around the whole places- they differ in colors. Orange, Blue, Red, Yellow, Purple, Green and Indigo. There are occasional black ones but they are not as many as the seven colors. It was a common thing around the nine worlds, even Midgard has those flames but they are just unseen by those without magical abilities or special gifts.
"Tsu-chan, don't go too far, okay?" Nana smile brightly from where she stood along with some other mothers as she called out to her only daughter. She would have followed the child but that would upset Tsuna. She wasn't that worried about Tsuna getting in trouble, Nana was more worried about Tsuna getting too far and just got lost.
"Hai, Okaa-san!" Tsuna answer cheerily as she looks around trying to find someone to play with. Her brown eyes stop on a lone black haired boy. In her eyes, he looks so lonely and so, she ran towards him in a clumsy and nervous manner. She hasn't talk to anyone other than her mother and her lady friends and so, she was nervous, especially talking to male- but he looks so lonely.
"H-Hello." She shyly looks at the boy.
The boy ignored Tsuna as if he didn't hear nor sense her presence. The cheerful girl pouts in a cute manner. Why didn't he look at her and talk to her? She sigh at bit depress before she decided to try one more time. "Hello." She spoke again and the boy ignored her. She pouts and was going to try again when her name was called. She look back to see her mother calling for her, smiling brightly.
"Tsu-chan! It's time to go home!" Tsuna smile brightly and ran to her mother. If Tsuna had glance back, she would have seen the boy look at her.
After a few days, Tsuna hasn't found anyone to play with other than three girls- Kyoko Sasagawa, Hana Kurokawa and Haru Miura. They are nice and kind to the young girl. What Tsuna doesn't know was that the boy she had tried to strike a conversation with always look at them as she and her friends play happily. Until one fateful day.
Tsuna pout as she sat on one of the swings the park has. She has no one to neither play nor talk with. Kyoko was out with her mother buying new clothes, Haru was with her dad in a university and Hana was currently with her mother as well, buying some things she needs to do something. For what, she never bothered asking.
Looking around, she pouts when she saw that almost all the reapers have playmates! Almost. Her eyes stop on a familiar boy. Isn't he that boy before? She smiles brightly before hopping towards him. As if there's not a single problem insight. She ignored the worried glances the mothers as well as some passersby threw at her and cheerily greeted the boy.
"Hello! I'm Tsuna. Do you want to be my friend?" She tilt her head to the side cutely as her smile brighten.
Hibari Kyoya look up to the standing little rabbit that he had observed these past few days. He frowns at her or more specifically her words before looking away. He swore he saw flowers appearing as a background behind the little girl! But that can't be true, right? Maybe she's just a figment of his imagination. No one wants to be friends with him anyway.
Tsuna pouted cutely as she then decided right where she was standing that she were to be the boy's friend whatever it takes, even if she have to do the impossible. She sat down next to the boy and tried once again to strike a conversation asking many things while the boy didn't even bat an eyelash as he ignore the energetic child.
"Oh, I remembered! What's your name?" She smiles brightly like the sun, her dimples showing as she look at the boy expectantly.
"... Kyoya." The b... Kyoya said after thinking for a while. Why this little girl would want to talk to him so much is beyond him. Can't she be like the rest of the reapers? Too afraid to look nor talking to him because of his parents' reputation didn't bother him at all- it never did and never will. That way, he wouldn't be crowding and having any contact with them. Talking is out of option since he's just a man of few words and he hates those scornful and judgmental gazes of the society.
"Kyoya?" Tsuna ask for confirmation as her eyes shone in happiness.
Kyoya inwardly sigh as he nods his head in confirmation. He thought that with this encounter, the brunette would stop bothering him, but he was wrong. Absolutely and terribly wrong.
Hibari Kyoya wants to sigh out loud but refrained himself for the sake of his reputation. The little bunny- Tsuna was her name, right? - had made it a daily activity to come and talk to him whenever those three female herbivores went home early. He, at first, had found the bunny absolutely irritating. As time goes on, he didn't notice he was actually enjoying the girl's presence and her bubbly attitude. Imagine to his surprise when he saw her looking so close to tears and ready to cry when he arrived late at their spot. She was surrounded by older boys as they wave a bunny doll in front of her. It didn't take a child such as him to understand that the boys are picking on the girl.
He didn't know what got to him and in the future he still wonders why he decided to do just that.
"Herbivores. What are you doing." The older boys froze at his cold as ice tone; even Kyoya was surprise at how cold his tone was. Was he that upset to see the tears gathering at that large honey brown eyes? He briefly wondered.
"What do you think, boy?" One of the male sporting a common hairstyle for delinquents- a pompadour answered back oblivious to who he was even talking to. It was obvious that they didn't figure out that Kyoya didn't ask a question. The idiot didn't even bother looking at him, just sparing the boy a glance.
"Bullying is against the rules, herbivore." With those words, Kyoya produced a pair of tonfas and started beating the older boys with practiced blows. He didn't stop until some of them had passed out from pain. He then turn to the bunny doll that the herbivores have dropped, picking it up he turned to the little bunny to see her looking at him with eyes that seemed to have sparkled in... Adoration and respect? He wasn't sure but he handed the girl her stuff toy.
"Thank you, Kyoya!" She smiles brightly as she hugged the fluffy white bunny. He looks away from her- his cheeks painted in pale red.
"I didn't do this for you. They're breaking the peace of Namimori." With those words, Kyoya left a very confuse yet happy Tsuna behind.
Large and doe-like brown eyes frightfully dart to right and left as the girl took a step forward. Praying to the gods that no one saw her, Tsuna look around- for safety measures and soon enough she felt that cold chill traveling on her spine.
"Dame-Tsuna~!" She heard a girl's voice- high-pitched and too nice from a feet away from her. Tsuna knew whose voice it was and briefly wondered how the girl can make it sound so nice and kind when she was nothing but.
By instinct, Tsunayuki released a high-pitched and frightened shout of "Hie!" as she break into a sprint. The girl and her friends following right after her.
"You won't get away this time, Dame-Tsuna!" A teenage girl with shoulder-length shiny blond hair and bright green eyes shouted. Her name is Risaki Yuri- the most friendly and kind girl in the whole Namimori Middle School (at least she claimed to be) but was known for being most... unfriendly and terrifying girl in Namimori Middle School.
The girl next to Yuri nods her head, her blond hair bounced at the notion. "That's right! You have to pay for your mistake!" She smile brightly, her bright blue eyes shined in an unnerving manner that reminds Tsuna of a predator look at its prey. She is Shiroko- Yuri's twin sister and claimed to be the smartest and beautiful girl of the whole school but like her sister; she was known exactly the opposite of her claimed title.
"Please leave me alone!" The thirteen year-old reaper could only shout back as she tried to run away from the mob of girls. She cried imaginary tears at how very unlucky she is. She was about to sprint to the corner but someone grab her wrists before she could even do so. Opening her mouth to shout something out, the person who grabs her was smart enough to cover her mouth as he pulled her over to the tree that is conveniently near them, hiding behind it.
Tsuna's pursuers stop as they start to look around of Tsuna. They didn't bother searching thoroughly as Tsuna expect them; they just stand there and glance at the surrounding.
"Dame-Tsuna! Show yourself!" Shiroko shout in fury, clenching her hands in anger. Tsuna wondered how come the girl would shout rather than look for her- after all, she is smart... right?
"She is not here girls. Let's go search over there." Yuri point to the corner as she smiles menacingly. "Once we find her, we'll give her a punishment she really deserves." They head to the corner leading to the market, leaving the two reapers alone.
When the person holding Tsuna made sure that there's no other reaper other than them. He let go of her and gave her a glare. "Herbivore, running is against the rules of Nami-chuu."
Tsuna gulp as she look up to face her childhood friend, Hibari Kyoya- one of the strongest reapers in their district. She briefly wondered how the rules of their school applied outside of school but brush it off since this is Kyoya she is talking to. "I'm so sorry Kyoya-kun! Those girls were..." She stop talking when Hibari raised his tonfas as a warning for her to shut up. She sweat dropped before smiling brightly. "Okay, okay. I'll shut up. Anyway, thank you for saving me."
Hibari didn't do anything but look away from Tsuna as his cheeks painted into a pale shade of red. Glancing at the small little bunny that Kyoya had deemed as someone under his protection- he just couldn't find it in him to push the girl away from him, he turn away. "I didn't do it for you. They are breaking the law." He then left. Tsuna watch her friend leave the tree, smiling brightly.
The brunette step inside her adobe cheerfully as she gently closed and locks the door behind her. "Tamaida, Okaa-san!" She yells smiling as her mother came out of the kitchen to greet her.
"Okaeri, Tsu-chan!" The short haired woman greeted brightly as she hug her only daughter. Tsuna hug her mother back, both smiling happily.
"How was your day, Tsu-chan?" Her mother asks Tsuna as they stop hugging, with Tsuna now removing her shoes.
"Today was fine. I'm going upstairs, Mom." She picks up her bag as she dash upstairs to her room, leaving a smiling and thoughtful Nana behind wondering about why her daughter was in such a good mood today.
The very next day, Nana hummed a tune as she opens the mailbox to see a letter from her beloved husband. "Hm?" She muttered to herself then gently closed the mailbox. She skips back to her house as she open the letter. Reading its content she smiles.
"A tutor for Tsu-chan, huh?" She muttered to herself, glancing up stairs, she smile brightly. Maybe it would be fine, but Nana was worried about what her husband is planning however the woman just brush it off like always does and just happily called her husband telling him that it is absolutely wonderful.
Author's Note: And... Done! I've changed a few things and other details for this. I'm working on chapter two already but I'm researching more about Reapers and others. I have a question for you guys, do you prefer having Ocs in the story? It's unavoidable but I'd like to ask if you're fine with that?
Please tell me what you think!
