Chapter 2: I Get A Kiss On The Forehead

Hi, I guess if you're reading this, then the first chapter was well received. I will continue this story either until I get bored, go AWOL for a couple months and then delete this story because I think it's bad, OR I actually finish it which is unlikely to happen within the next year or two.

Chapter 2: A Decision Is Made

Percy

The sleepy god burped after his announcement, and the goddess of wisdom glared. "What would you know, you drunk!?" She insulted her half-brother, which only pissed him off. "Well I would consider myself more of an expert in this case than you, sister, considering I fucking witnessed it!" He ranted, making the stubborn goddess shut up for a few seconds.

"Dionysus, can you please clear up what happened for us?" Zeus told his son, and the god squirmed until he was in a more comfortable spot, before beginning his side of the story.

"Well, as you all know, I have been ill-fated to act as the leader of your half-breed club, and thus I have free reign to wander the campgrounds, and areas surrounding it." He began, making some gods, Zeus not included, squirm in their seats, feeling sorry for their brother/nephew.

"Well just this morning I happened to be… uh… sightseeing out in the forest. I saw many ny- uh… rare birds looking through the trees at something, so me being me, I decided to have a peek too." Mr D said, taking care to hide his actual reasons for being out there.

"Anyways, what I saw was… oh it was disgusting. It's not supposed to look like that! I should know." He grimaced at whatever flashbacks he was getting, which made the other's catch on and ultimately gag, some like Artemis and Athena looking offended.

"What did you see, my son?" Zeus asked, not having quite caught on to what he was hinting at. Dionysus shook his head. "I'm not going to go into detail on that matter father. Just know that Peter's right. Anyways, where was I? Oh yes." The god got over his nausea and slumped back down again.

"I left there vehemently disgusted and scarred, and returned to camp for a power nap. I woke half an hour later to shouting outside. You should really teach your kids to use their inside voices, by the way. I was about to walk outside and yell at the brats for waking me up, until I realised there was essentially a riot occuring outside, with none other than the Athena girl egging them on." At this, Athena scoffed.

"My daughter knows better than to encourage a riot at camp! You're obviously just making things up because you've grown fond of the boy ever since he saved your son the war." She accused, only causing Mr D to scowl.

"While I admit, sister, that I have grown fond of him, I assure you I'm not lying. Ask Apollo. He is a truth god after all." He said, gesturing at the blond god of music.

The young god just shrugged. "Hey, If I ever detect a lie in one of these meetings, I'll let you guys know." His laid back behaviour at this situation caused his sister and half-sister to glare at him.

Dionysus cleared his throat and continued. "Back to it, then. The Athena spawn, Annabelle Grace or whatever, was clearly leading the riot, and screaming her lungs out at our poor friend Chiron, who looked highly doubtful of whatever it was that she was saying. One of the new campers was standing next to them, obviously having been assaulted earlier, and no doubt by Mr Jackson here." Very few gods looked unconvinced that I had assaulted a fellow camper, but some, like Artemis and Poseidon, were grinning.

"I noticed Perry coming out of his cabin and walking up to the crowd, confused as to what was happening. Then, he became worried, and backed up, but luck was not on his side in that moment. His step was so loud that everyone in the crowd heard it and saw him. That's when things got… bad." Mr D frowned.

"Unfortunately, I didn't see much of what happened next, as I couldn't be bothered getting up from my seat, but suddenly the little savages you all sired started chasing him around with their weapons. The last I saw of them was Peter running out towards the stables while being chased by those brats. Now we're here." Mr D wrapped up his story, and Athena seemed a little bit reluctant to kill me now.

She sighed. "I see… But know this, Jackson. If I find that you are lying about my daughter, I'll split your petty head open." She glared, and I gulped in fear. "Y-yes ma'am." I responded, and she nodded.

Zeus cleared his throat, and gestured for both Athena and Poseidon to sit down, which they obediently did. He looked at me for a moment, studying me, before speaking not only to me, but to the whole throne room.

"Perseus Jackson, I cannot deny the things you have done for Olympus. Retrieving my bolt, saving the camp multiple times, rescuing my daughter Artemis, fighting and defeating many titans including my father, Kronos. Not to mention the various things you've done in between. Yes, you may be an annoying, sassy, disrespectful little shit, but that pales in comparison to the good you've done." Zeus turned to Poseidon, and the both of them seemed to have a mental conversation while the other gods waited patiently.

I felt happy that the king of the gods thought so highly of me. Yes, he also thought reasonably of me, but he respected my accomplishments, and that made me feel good about all I've done. I wondered what they were talking about. Dad looked happy, in fact he was beaming, and nodding furiously. What's got him excited?

Zeus stood up, and proclaimed to the whole room, inciting everyone's attention. "Time and time again you have saved Olympus and put yourself in our favour. Are there any here that deny that young Perseus is worthy?"

Everyone gasped, shocked that Zeus would even consider offering me godhood after I'd already turned it down before.

At first nobody put their hands up, slightly afraid to question Zeus' judgement. Athena glared at me slightly but didn't object. Ares however, was livid. His normal smirking and confident face was now red and furious. He was shaking with anger, and shot up looking at Zeus with a hint of mutiny.

"NO! I won't have this punk become a god! I didn't argue the first time because he came in useful with the Son of Hermes. Now, I won't let the brat become anything more than a tool! That's all we need him for anyway." The God of War complained to Zeus, which invoked the rage of his uncle.

"BE QUIET, WAR GOD, OR YOU SHALL FACE THE WRATH OF THE OCEAN!" My father yelled, making me step back a bit, not wanting to get caught in the middle of a godly brawl. My father had his trident raised and pointed at Ares, glowing with power. Zeus looked slightly annoyed that his son was being threatened, but didn't interfere.

"Poseidon, brother, please sit back down. You'll make a mess with all this water being sloshed around." Hera said, sounding annoyed at how messy it was getting. It truth, however, she was worried for her son. She was worried that her younger brother was about to skewer her firstborn son in front of the entire council. Well, if that did happen, there'd be an opening for a certain Hero of Olympus. Not that she wanted her son to die, of course.

"NO, HERA! He has insulted and disrespected my son, one who should be revered above even most gods. If he doesn't apologize to me and Perseus immediately, I'LL SPLIT HIS PETTY HEAD OPEN! We'll see if he's still smirking then!" The sea god threatened, and Ares gulped a little, but stood his ground.

Ares looked at Zeus, pleading for assistance. "Father, are you gonna let him do this? Say things like that to your son?" He asked, and the King shrugged. "You started this fight, Ares. Now, are you going to agree with us or disagree for eternity?"

Ares scowled at me with a deep hatred, then looked back at Zeus and muttered. "Never." Before storming out of the throne room, clearly too mad to just flash.

Zeus sighed, and turned back to the now quiet throne room. Apollo and Hermes were stifling their laughter, Dionysus was barely keeping awake, and the rest of the gods were too shocked to speak. "Well good, he was always a liability, anyway." Artemis spoke, glad that her half-brother had stormed off. A few gods chuckled at her joke.

The king of the gods stood up, and continued where he had left off before he had been interrupted. "Now, does anyone else believe that Perseus in unworthy?" He asked, though it was clearly a rhetorical question. He didn't want to go through that shit again today. Not that anyone would argue anyway.

Zeus nodded, and stood up, indicating for all the Olympians to follow suit, which they did. I moved to the center of the room at the order of Zeus, trying to prepare myself for what would come next.

Zeus summoned his bolt, while Poseidon and Hades summoned their trident and helmet. The king's thundering voice boomed across the throne room. "Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon and mortal Sally Jackson, Hero of Olympus and bane of all Titans and Monsters. Do you, as offered by us, the Olympian Council, accept the high honour and gift of not only immortality, but godhood?" He asked, and for a second, a lump caught in my throat.

Did I want this? I had turned down godhood once before. Would I do that again?

Hell no.

I had turned down godhood for her. My old flame. Annabeth Chase. The one I had thought I'd loved. But she betrayed me. Tore my heart out along with most of my humanity. Percy Jackson was dead. He was killed by a mob of angry campers a few hours ago. Now, there was only Perseus.

"I accept, Lord Zeus." I responded politely, which earned me a respectful smile. "Very well." He said happily, and I saw that my father had a large grin on his face. The god's closed the circle they had half-formed around me and joined hands, as if this was some sort of cult ritual and I was about to be sacrificed.

Simultaneously, they all began to chant in Greek. "κυρία χάος, ακούστε την προσευχή μας, ευλογήσει αυτόν τον σπουδαίο ήρωα με τη δύναμη ενός θεού. κρίνει αν είναι άξιος, και αν είναι έτσι, ένας από μας θα γίνει. αν δεν είναι, στα βάθη της κόλασης μαζί του. αφήστε τη μοίρα να τον καθοδηγήσει τώρα και για πάντα. χάος χαλάζι"

Even though I couldn't understand a word they were saying, I could feel that the magic was working, so I relaxed and let these people do their work.

Once they finished chanting a golden glow emitted from their hands and travelled towards me. My gut instinct was to back away but I didn't, and the magic was absorbed by my body. At first, I thought I was fine, and that it worked.

Then I collapsed.

{Time Skip o_0}

Stars and darkness. That was about all I could see when I woke up. I couldn't tell where I'd woken up or even if I'd woken up. There was no ground beneath, so I wasn't sure if I was alive at this point. Despite there being no ground, I lifted myself up to look around, and saw… nothing. Nothing that wasn't the same as anything else anyway. It was just… emptiness for miles to come. Hell, if there even was an end to this place.

I stood up, again on nothing, and took a deep breath, calming myself. I had no clue why I was here or how long I would be here for. Maybe I was dead, and this was the afterlife. Perhaps this was trial from the Olympians, one you had to pass to become a god. Either way, I don't want to be here, so I'm going to try and find a way out of here.

I turned around to walk away and almost squealed when I saw a woman standing there. She was about my height, wearing a black dress that sparkled slightly and had pitch black hair that went down past her shoulders. Slightly pale skin topped off her alluring look, and her colourful eyes studied me over.

She didn't speak, instead just choosing to watch me, waiting for my next move. Deciding to try and potentially stop whatever deity this was from trying to kill me (because let's face it, she probably will), I attempted to converse with the strange lady. "Umm… Hi?"

Godsdamnit, Percy

She laughed, with surprised me. I didn't know what to do next, I honestly didn't think I'd get this far (my life in one sentence).

She was the next one to speak, her voice being melodious and powerful, echoing around this… room, I guess. "I thought you'd say something like that, Perseus Jackson."

So she knew my name, that was a good start. At least she wasn't calling me Sea Spawn, Grandson, or just plain Jackson, like literally every person who's ever tried to kill me, ever.

"So, uh, you obviously know my name, but I don't know yours. I guess you're the God or Titan of something." I asked, which made her smile. She seemed to be fond of me for the moment. Let's try not to piss her off.

She stood up higher, generating a regal aura around her. "I am Chaos, the first Primordial, Creator of the Universe." The mysterious woman announced.

I stared at her, and her eyebrow raised. She was very clearly waiting for something, and I realised that I had never heard that name before. I'd heard the word Chaos, but I didn't know it was the name of a Greek Primordial.

"Uh, sorry, I've never heard of you before." I apologised in a very Percy-like way, which made her laugh once again.

"You're much like I thought you would be, Perseus Jackson. Full of sass. Sadly, it is not a surprise that you've never heard of me. The Greeks never really paid attention to me, since they had little interest in the void and my other domains. Even domains that are mine have mistakenly been associated with my children and descendants like the stars with Ouranos." She spoke sadly, dipping her head in thought.

It then sunk in that I was standing in front of not only a god, but THE god. Basically God with a capital G. I sputtered a bit, my eyes going wide as I looked at her. "U-uh sorry, Lady Chaos. Please don't blow me up." I said, hastily bowing.

When I looked up, she was frowning, slightly disappointed. "Dammit, Perseus Jackson. You were doing so well. I hate it when people bow or treat me as if I'm higher than them. Please don't do that again." She sighed, and I got up nervously.

Chaos immediately went back to studying me, walking circles around me as she looked me all over, as if trying to find anything wrong. She stopped in front of me, smiling. "Congratulations, Perseus. You have passed the test." She said, and my jaw dropped.

"What? But I didn't even do anything! How did I pass?" I asked, confused as to what kind of tomfuckery this was. Chaos shrugged. "You didn't need to do anything, I just had to look into you. Kind of like reading you, I guess." She explained, and then I remembered why I had gone unconscious in the first place.

"Wait, is this test to determine whether I become a god, or are you just randomly deciding to test me?" I asked, hoping it was the first one, and that I hadn't just been kidnapped by a Primordial. Chaos nodded, and confirmed that the former was correct.

"So… what am I the god of?" I asked, and Chaos went into deep thought. "Well, there are multiple choices. We could go to one of the minor ones, that stay true to you such as Loyalty, Swordsmanship, and Heroes, etc. Or we could go big, and pick something like your inherited Time domain, or you could be a sort of heir to Poseidon, and when he fades you'll become god of the sea. That could be a long time off, though, so take your pick." She said, giving me a choice of my domains.

I thought for a bit. They were all tempting, time especially. Then again, I was quite inexperienced. If I chose time, I might mess up and time might fail entirely or something like that. If only I could just be all of them.

"Well, what's wrong with choosing all of them?" I asked, and Chaos was about to object, but stopped. "Well, that would make you as powerful as an Olympian, and I'm sure Zeus wouldn't let a minor god be that powerful. But perhaps, if you became powerful enough, and found a female god of plentiful power, Zeus might let you on the council, along with your female counterpart." She explained, and a light bulb instantly went off in my head.

"Hestia." I said without context. "What?" Chaos asked, confused. I quickly told the Primordial my plan. "Hestia, the oldest child of Kronos. She used to be on the council, didn't she? Maybe if she agreed, we could both join the Olympian council." I said, and Chaos nodded, smiling.

"Well, it sounds plausible, I'll give you that." She thought for a moment, then spoke again. "Still, if you want to be on the council, you'll have to be a bit more powerful." She said, and my hopes diminished.

"Well, how do I do that? Should I go on a 12 year journey to find my inner self or something? Please say I don't have to." I joked, and she laughed. Chaos shook her head. "No, but just stay still." She said, and before I had time to question it, she leaned down and gave me a motherly kiss on the forehead.

It would've been normal, if it wasn't for the fact that a huge amount of power immediately surged through my body, almost making me scream out in pain. I kept my calm though, and stuck with breathing heavily, and Chaos seemed almost surprised.

"You're stronger than I thought to not have collapsed right there. And now, you're much more powerful." She said, and I smiled at her compliment.

Chaos placed her hand on my shoulder. "You're strong Perseus, and I can see that you're going to do great things for this world. It may not seem great at first, or to other people, but in the end, there will be peace. Go forth, my child, and fulfill your destiny." She said cyrptically, and I raised an eyebrow.

"What are you talking about, Lady Chaos?" I asked, and she took her hand off my shoulder, and suddenly my world began to spin around me.

"Farewell, Perseus."

I woke up with a jolt, and the bright light was being blocked by multiple dark shapes. As my vision cleared up, I could clearly see all the Olympians looking down at me. A few, such as Apollo and Dad, were smiling brightly.

I sat up, and aside from the multiple gods around me, I noticed three small shapes stood away from everyone else.

Three old women stood together in front of Zeus' throne, staring at me. I immediately knew who these ladies were, since I've had quite a few bad experiences with them in the past. The Fates.

The three of them rose their arms in a gesturing motion, and spoke simultaneously.

"All hail Perseus, God of Time, Loyalty, Swordsmanship, Tides and Heroes."

Hey guys, sorry for both the late update and the rushing at the end of the chapter. If you put those two together you can probably tell I was trying to get this out as soon as possible.

Quick question, should Artemis and Percy's relationship be an arranged one, or should it be consensual. Keep in mind that I'm going to be pairing them up fairly quickly, so the first one might make more sense, but I can try writing a rushed relationship. Like they just fall in love and get engaged not long after. Again, i'm leaning towards arranged because it makes it that much easier for me to progress with the actual story, instead of having 16 Pertemis chapters. Don't get me wrong, they'll still fall in love regardless, but the arranged one will be your typical 'Artemis is being forced to marry Percy so she falls in love with him after they're married' stuff.

Also, what should their daughter's name be? Zoe perhaps? Leave suggestions.
