*PREVIOUSLY*

"Goodnight Elena." Then he climbed out the window and was gone

Dammit, just tell him! Do you want to be alone all night?

"I watched a scary movie and got scared!"

*NOW*

"I watched a scary movie and got scared!" From behind the curtain Elena heard Damon chuckle, and jumped when he popped his head round the frame.

"Really? That's all?" Elena narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms.

"That's all? Do you not watch horror movies? They are freakin' terrifying!" Elena jumped again when Damon suddenly appeared at her side. She was never going to get used to that.

"Elena, you are practically IN a horror movie. What, the vampires and witches didn't give you a tiny hint?" He laughed as Elena's brow puckered.

"Shut up." Elena felt her face reddening. "Well it's not as if you're exactly scary, is it?"

Damon flashed to her other side, picked her up and dropped her onto the bed.

"Well that is pretty darn terrifying." Elena agreed breathlessly. Damon laughed and joined her on the bed, surprised that for once she didn't object. She really must've been scared by that movie. Speaking of...

"What did you watch anyway?" What could have been scary enough for her to call him? Damon had seen almost every single horror movie out there. They weren't even that scary. But then again, he was a vampire. But then, if vampires existed, what was stopping all these other creatures from existing too? He had never really thought about that.

"Damon? Helloo?" Damon blinked to find a hand waving in front of his face.

"What?"

Elena laughed. "You ask me a question and you don't even have the good grace to listen to the answer. Honestly, you're getting rude in your old age." She teased.

"Oh yeah?" Damon smiled evilly down at her. To his grand surprise, Elena simply laughed at him.

"That's it? Your great, witty come back is "oh yeah'? Forget rude, I think you might be going senile."

"Well I wasn't finished." Damon huffed childishly, glaring at Elena.

"Okay, go ahead Oh Great One. Astound me with your wit."

"No, it's too late now! You've ruined it!" He announced dramatically, standing up and crossing his arms.

"Damon-"

"No Elena! That's it! It's too late for your apologies!" Damon turned on his heel. "I leave, in a 'uff!"

He paused.

"Unless, of course, I get an apology?" Damon turned and looked expectantly at Elena.

"I'm very sorry for hurting your feelings Damon." Elena managed a straight face.

"The apology, she is, 'ow you say, accepted." Damon flounced- yes, you heard me, flounced- back onto the bed.

"Are we french now?"

"Oui." Damon raised an eyebrow at Elena. "Nous avons Francais."

"I see." Damon frowned and Elena sighed. "Je suis Francais?" She tried and Damon laughed. "And that's all the french I know."

"Really? One measly little sentence?"

"Well I'm sorry if I've only been alive for 17 years, how terrible of me that I didn't make french a priority." Damon shook his head.

"17 years is more than enough time to learn a language." Elena raised an eyebrow.

"For you maybe." Damon rolled his eyes.

"For everyone, Elena." Elena began to shake her head, but was cut off. "You know English, do you not? You've been learning that for 17 years."

"That's completely different." Elena protested. "I grew up learning English."

"For 17 years."

"Yes, what's your point?"

"That is the point!"

"What?"

"Exactly!"

Elena stared at Damon, confused. He laughed. "I love confusing you Elena."

"Shut up."

There was a period of silence for a few minutes. "So...not that this isn't fun or anything, but do you feel successfully less scared?"

Elena gasped. "Are you saying you want to leave?" She grasped her chest in mock horror. "And there I was thinking you were enjoying yourself."

"Fine then, I'll stay here and annoy you all night." Elena scowled.

"Ugh. I changed my mind. Go home instead." Damon laughed and made a show of making himself comfortable.

"Nope, I'm afraid you've got me all night now. See this is what you get for watching horror movies."

"Oh the horror."

"Yes, exactly, horror movies." Elena laughed and Damon cleared his throat. "So, why did you call me exactly?"

Elena looked at him. "I told you, I watched a horror movie and got scared."

"No, I meant why did you call me? Why not Stefan?" Elena looked at her hands.

"I don't know, you were just the first person I thought to call." She looked up. "Don't let that go to your head or anything."

"As if I would." Damon cocked his head. "But I think there's another reason."

"Do you now?" Damon nodded seriously.

"I do."

Elena nodded. "Erner ooka rectme ferm der mermer." She mumbled, looking at her hands again.

"What? Elena, I know I have supernatural hearing, but I didn't quite catch that. Could you please repeat?"

Elena sighed irritably. "I knew you could protect me from the monsters. Happy now?"

Damon smiled. "Very. I'm ecstatic Elena. Honestly, that you would choose me to fight a mummy or a zombie or a ghost or whatever the hell it is that you thought would attack you."

Elena elbowed him. "Shut up. And really? I don't think you could take on a ghost."

Damon's mouth dropped. "Elena I am shocked. How could you say that? I could take on a ghost eyes closed, one hand tied behind my back and hopping."

"Mmhm. Whatever you say dear." Elena yawned and dropped her head onto Damon's shoulder. "Night night Damon."

"What you're just gonna sleep there?"

"That was the plan." Elena replied drowsily. "You got a problem with that?"

Damon laughed. "None at all your Majesty. Now shut up, I need my beauty sleep."

"Some more than others."

Damon was about to make a tart reply, but found that Elena was already asleep. Leaning his head against the wall, he made himself as comfortable as possible without jostling Elena.

"Night night Elena."

So, I finally finished it! Sorry to keep you waiting, and I hope that this was worth it. Thanks for reading! :)
