"My first memory was of a black abyss. Hundreds of locations and faces, names and conversations ebbed and flowed in the darkness, but each was just out of view or mumbled so I couldn't manage to make out any of them clearly. However, one name and face appeared crystal clear to me, as if I existed solely to be the keeper of those details. His face was soft but his expression was stoic and his eyes were a striking shade of blue, the same went for his hair. The man's name was Chrom, your father. At the time I had no idea of the adventure that awaited us both, or the joy and sorrow our meeting would bring me and the rest of the world."

"In an instant, the darkness began to fade away and a whole other world came into view. I saw Chrom standing over me with a blonde haired girl wearing an odd looking head ornament."

Robin found herself lying in the middle of a vast open field; beautiful shades of green could be seen as far as the eye could see merging with the clear blue sky at the horizon. As she sat up the gentle gusts of wind traveling through the plains entered her lungs and seemed to imbue her entire being with new life. Robin looked up at Chrom, and as she stared into his glinting blue eyes, she could have sworn she heard music in the distance…an accordion to be exact.

The blue haired man took notice of Robin's awakening and leaned forward extending his hand.

"I see your awake now, there are better places to take a nap then on the ground you know? Here, take my hand."

As Robin extended her arm, her eyes briefly strayed from Chrom's gaze to take notice of an odd looking mark on her right hand. It was purple in color pulsating with a menacing aura into her very soul. She could see shadowy figures flashing in her mind, each with six glowing red eyes staring back at her. She felt them trying to drag her mind back into the darkest corners of that black abyss and it frightened her, but as she came to her feet and face to face with Chrom, all the visions began to fade away and the world cleared again.

"You all right?"

Chrom's words gave Robin the last jolt back into reality she needed. Although she did not respond at first, Robin merely stared at the man taking in all that he was. She scanned the sword at his side, his blue uniform, gloved hands, and tattered white cape. She analyzed every part of him from top to bottom, paying close attention to his face. Everything about him seemed to calm Robin, like they been connected for a long time, destined to meet. Her eyes moved to his, studying the different hues of blue inside them and getting lost in the process. As she stared Robin began to feel a warmth rise up inside of her, turning her pale cheeks red. This feeling was something she didn't at all understand, and in a panic she abruptly broke the silence.

"Y-Yes! Thank you Chrom!"

Slightly surprised at her sudden outburst, he collected himself and replied.

"Ah, then you know who I am miss?"

Robin's head jolted with pain, "N-No, it's just… I know you, it may sound strange but, your name just…came to me."

A large imposing man clad in blue and white armor suddenly came into view. "What a load of Pegasus dung." The brown haired man began to look Robin up and down, "I don't believe you for a second, not only are you armed but you wear the colors of a Grimleal. Who are you and what interest do you have in my lord?"

"I-I'm not lying! My name is…Robin, and I don't even know what a Grimleal is. I-I can't…remember."

Robin began to feel flustered and it came out in her voice. As she looked down at her left hand she noticed that she was holding a brown book with a yellow symbol stitched into the front.

"W-What? Is this a Thunder Tome? Wait, how do I know what this is? Or rather why am I carrying it?"

Chrom appeared to be much more invested in Robin with this little development.

"Robin, was it? Is that name foreign? Could you perhaps be a mage?"

Chrom leaned in towards Robin, almost bowing.

"Pardon my rudeness, my name is Chrom, although you already knew that. This glum gentleman here is Frederick, and the little girl is my sister, Lissa."

The blonde haired girl instantly puffed out her cheeks, "I am NOT a little girl!"

After punching Chrom in the arm, she turned to Robin.

"It kinda seems like you have amnesia Robin, do you even know where you are?"

Robin began to survey her surroundings once more; however it was a fruitless endeavor. Nothing about where she was could be gathered from the environment, she couldn't remember anything about herself or her past.

"No, I don't know where I am...I can't remember, anything."

Frederick took that statement as an excuse to chime in again.

"Pah! A likely story, I must admit though your furrowed brow makes you seem quite convincing."

"Frederick, please." Chrom silenced the knight, "Robin, you are currently within the borders of the Halidom of Ylisse. The High Exalt Emmeryn is our leader, and my comrades and I are known as the Shepherds. We roam the country making sure its borders are secure and its people protected."

Robin did find it odd that a bunch of sheep herders would be so heavily armed, so this development was a comfort to her. That comfort however was short lived as Lissa alerted the group to something in the distance.

"Chrom! Look over there!"

Chrom and the others looked to the distance and saw a plume of black smoke coming from a village.

"Gods, that's South Town. It's come under attack! Shepherds move out!"

He turned to Robin with a sense of urgency that she had not seen from him yet, it frightened her.

"I'm sorry Robin, but further introductions will have to wait. Stay here while we go deal with this mess."

Robin's eyes widened and her head began to jolt with pain as visions of Chrom flashed in her mind. The visions were obscured with stains of blood, but Robin could sense the ill presage. The images began to tear at Robin's heart, and she felt tears beginning to form at the corners of her brown eyes.

"We can't have you getting hurt before we learn more about you, right?"

As he began to move away Robin lunged forward and grabbed his hand.

"Chrom I'm sorry, but please take me with you! I can hold my own in a fight and…"

The surprised look on Chrom's face grew worried as she clenched his hand tighter.

"I just need to be where you are! I-I can't explain it but…I feel like we're connected. I feel like I'll never see you again if I let you go now, I need to keep you safe. You don't have to trust me…just let me come."

Frederick looked like he was about to say something when Chrom raised his hand, stopping him. Chrom's face turned towards Robin's, softened by her words. He wasn't sure why she was acting this way but he felt compelled to comfort her. He reached out and took Robin's hands into his own.

"I trust you Robin. I can't explain it either but, there's something about you I trust. Besides, what kind of Shepherd would I be if I left you all alone here in your current state? If you are indeed a mage, we could use your skills on our team. If we make it through this fight, you should join us!"

Chrom released Robin's hands and reached down to draw his sword.

"Stay close to me Robin, the foes we face will grant us no quarter. It's kill or be killed."

Robin took a deep breath and let out a long sigh, wiping her face with her hands. She moved to stand behind Chrom, pulling her thunder tome closer to her body. As the Shepherds began to move towards South Town, she spoke softly to herself.

"Chrom, I don't know how you and I are connected, but I sense an invisible bond between us. I can't remember anything about my past, but I'll do my best to repay your kindness."

Author's Note: Wow, grateful to the followers who have stuck around for a while. Got back from a deployment so hopefully I can write more. I realize it's very hypocritical of me to bitch about the stories I like not getting updated, when I actually have a story I haven't updated in months that has a couple followers, so I'm sorry for that, but military sh*t can be a touch more difficult to deal and manage time with than college or the like so I hope people can understand. On to the story, I've got the whole thing planned out very roughly, but everything is a work in progress so I'm looking forward to what changes. I'm trying to make the first arc in-line with the core story until sh*t changes (remember we're in the future past DLC timeline with Robin reminiscing to Lucina). Definitely gonna try to make the RobinxChrom angle more emotional, giving Chrom more character because that was one of my favorite things from the game. I thought their relationship made the most sense logically in the game, which along with very good stories on this site motivated me to try to tweak the story on my own. Eventually things will continue to the Future Past arc, with Lucina continuing the story from there, returning to the past with the story moving to her story from there. I'll try to make chapters around 2,000 words, so they'll be like bite sized nuggets cause I don't have the time onboard to pen sweeping long narratives.
