Summary: A What if Story: Feral Naruto has brutally killed Pain and kidnapped the heiress, Hinata. The Leaf is after him but can they really stand a chance against the crazed Blond?
Obsessed Fox
Hinata let out a heavy groan as she groggily opened her tired eyes. She felt horrible. The back of her head throbbed, continuously pounding away at her skull. Touching her pulsing forehead, she felt bandages encircling the top of her head and came across something wet at the back. Her eyes widen in surprise as she inspected her hand. Red liquid painted her fingertips.
She was injured.
Forcing her achingly sore arms to sit herself up, she hissed. A sharp stinging shot from her shoulder blade down to her back. Hinata gritted her teeth as the pain gradually dulled away. Fight the urge to throw up, she examined herself.
She choked out a gasp.
She wore some white baggy pants, the kind hospital patients wear, with no shirt but this wasn't what horrified her. What scared her were bandages that were firmly wrapped around her form from her shoulder down to her waist. Red stains covered some of the white bandages and what didn't cover her skin was bruised in a range of greens and purples.
Memories suddenly flashed through her.
The village was under attack. Everything was destroyed, people were killed. Naruto was fighting some mad man, named Pain. He struck Naruto down and had him defenseless. She ran in to save him and... confessed.
A slight blush dusted her cheeks before becoming deathly pale.
Pain easily defeated her. He threw her to the ground as if she were just some rag doll and pierced a pole right through her chest.
She warily looked down at her bandages again and traced a finger over where the pole had struck her.
Was she dead? No, that wouldn't make much sense. She wouldn't be bandaged up if she was dead... right? Was she kidnapped or in some Hyuuga hide out?
She warily glanced around trying to grasp any clues of what was going on. It turned out she was in a cave. It was empty aside from the several bags and blankets placed around her. Where was she?
Crack.
A noise echoed around her. Alerted, she faced the dark entranced and tensed. Her heart fluttered in fear expecting the worst as a large shadowed figure made its way in. As the small fire laminated his manly form, Hinata's eyes widen at recognition.
"N-Naruto?" She murmured in a mix of relief and horror. It was Naruto but... not quite.
"Hinata?" he asked in an equally surprised tone.
She stared at him in awe. She couldn't think or formulate a thought. He put the wood that was on his shoulder onto the floor and slowly made his way to her side.
It was him, his chakra was so unique and un-replicate-able that it had to be him. Any deceit would be noticeable to her byakugan eyes. Yet before her, Naruto had two brown fox ears sprouting from his blond hair with a same colored tail swishing behind him.
Her eyes tore away from his form to his worried expression.
"Are you okay? How're you feeling?" He urgently asked.
She noticed these new features didn't just affect his body but his face as well. His whiskers were much more prominent and his blue eyes... they weren't blue anymore but red with black snake like pupils.
His hand touched her forehead immediately snapping her out of her thoughts. His eyes were very hard and guarded.
"Hinata?" He asked louder in slight panic.
"I-I'm okay!" She squeaked so suddenly, surprising them both. She threw her hands over her mouth and silently apologized.
He only smiled in relief while exposing some newly acquired sharp canines. His hand moved from her bandaged forehead to play with a strand of her hair. "Don't apologize. You just had me a little worried but everything's okay now."
Hinata couldn't help but fidget under his close proximity and intense gaze. His calculating eyes roamed over every inch of her heated face.
"Naruto?" She trembled out questionably when she found her voice. He continued to play with her blue locks. "What's going on? You have fox ears," she asked hesitantly. "And a tail..? And... your eyes?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she wished she could've taken them back. His vibrant smile left his lips as he withdrew back in pain. Her heart pained at the sight. Before she had a chance to tell him to forget about her request, she paused.
His brown ears flat themselves on his lowered head as he worriedly nibbled on his bottom lip. He kept his gaze on the ground while his tail curled around him. He looked so torn and unsure. It was like Akumaru when he was caught doing something bad.
Without thinking, her hand instinctually reached over to rub one of his furry brown ears in an attempt to soothe his worries away. He tensed. His wide red eyes snapped to hers causing her to she quickly withdrew her hand.
"Sorry!" She quickly apologized in embarrassment. She mentally berated herself for doing something so foolish and improper. This was not Akumaru, but Naruto.
"No, it's alright. You just got me off guard. My ears are just really sensitive right now." He admitted, voice going low and eyes darkening. "But I kind of liked it."
There was something stirring behind his eyes. Something that the Naruto she knew never directed to her direction before. It sent warning tingles throughout her body, making her form feel hot. She gulped some saliva down her suddenly dry throat. She nervously bit her lip and tried to calm her heart against Naruto's hooded eyes.
"What's wrong?" He softly asked leaning his face closer to hers, effectively making her gasp. His gaze lowered to her cheeks. They locked onto her growing blush and brushed his knuckles against its warmth. Her further widening eyes locked on his tongue licking his pink lips.
Why was he looking at her such a way? Why was her body becoming so hyper-sensitive and warm with just a look? It was too much for her.
"N-Nothing's wr-wrong," she quickly turned away from him. Her abruptness seemed to have caused him to snap out of his overwhelming trance and blinked owlish at her.
"Sorry." Her lavender orbs snap back at his apologetic voice. He ran a hand and ruffled his blond shaggy hair and flickered his ears. "Um, I don't know where that came from," he forced out a laugh. His sharp teeth gleaming from the little light there was. "I'll act like it never happened if you do the same."
"It's okay. It-it didn't bother me," she easily forgave him. With her personal space returned, she could finally think. The Blond's new behavior… it could be connected to his fox features. Something had happened to him. He was not attracted to her. It was just a temporal change for the time being. He'd probably act like this toward any female. Yes, that's it. Don't think more of it, Hinata. When we return to the village, the Hokage would fix him back.
Hinata feeling better at her plan, nodded to herself. She flinched as dizziness overwhelmed her for a second. Naruto threw an arm around her shoulder, steading her as she held her head. Once everything stilled, she opened her eyes to see him tracing a concerned finger over her bloody bandages. "You okay? How you feeling? I think I should change and dress your wounds. They're getting really bloody and that's not a good sign."
Hinata's arms automatically hug herself causing the man to retreat his hand. "N-No, most definitely not. It's fine. I'm fine. I'll dress my own wounds," she quickly got out. The idea of being bare to a man, and to Naruto no less, was nerve wrecking and unacceptable.
Naruto frowned. "Hinata, you're in no shape to do it on your own," he countered with the lightest of shades of pink dusting his bronze skin.
"It's okay. I-I can do it. I don't need any help."
"No, you can't."
"Naruto, please. I'm more than capable-"
"Hinata, no matter what you say I'm not changing my mind about this. I will change your wounds," he stated firmly. A horrified tremor ran through her as she huddled frighteningly more into herself. His eyes softened. "Hinata, you're injured. Trust me. I won't do anything."
"I do. It's just… can't we wait until we get back to the village?" she silently pleaded. When Naruto didn't respond, she glanced up to see him looking pained. "Naruto?"
He was inspecting his hands, his sharp nails dug into his palm. His sharp teeth bit into his lip as he met her gaze. "I… I look scary, don't I?" he broke out.
"Eh?"
"These ears," he suddenly pulled at them from his head, "This tail," his tail flickered. "This fucking face. I'm a freak of nature." Her eyes widened as Naruto covered his face with his hands. "I'm a fucking monster. No wonder you can't trust me."
"You're not a monster, Naruto," she grabbed one of his wrists, even though it hurt her to reach out that far. He shook her hold away and leaned intimidatingly over her form.
Arching his arms open, he growled out, "Look at me, Hinata. I am a monster."
She shook her head defiantly. She tried to straighten her back to look firm and not show the fear she felt building inside her. "You're not. You're still Naruto and the Naruto I know has a kind heart. He'd protect the village with his life. He saved countless of lives and wants to be Hokage to continue to do so. I trust you with my entire being. To me, you look- You look cute, not like a monster."
His mouth dropped open as his ears straightened out. All the aggression he had moments ago disappeared. "Me cute?"
If she wasn't so nervous from his outburst earlier, she would've laughed at his comical face now. She nodded.
"This look… really doesn't bother you?" His voice contained disbelief.
"No."
He placed his forehead on hers and gave a crooked grin, looking thoroughly amused. His large hands grasped hers. "Thank you... You're amazing. I-"
He stopped talking to her as he froze for a moment to sniff the air. He began growling. His lips pulled back exposing his teeth.
"N-Naruto?" The Hyuuga asked, frightened.
He spun around, his back to her as he faced the entrance of the cave. His body was hunched forward, tense, prepared to pounce at a moment's notice, with his tail moving erratically behind him.
Hinata instinctively tried to move in an attempt to help fight this unknown enemy but a sharp pain stopped her. A silent gasp left her lips causing Naruto to quickly whip his head to her.
"Hinata," he growled out, "don't move." His voice was so authoritative and powerful that it held no room for argument. She frighteningly nodded her head in agreement.
He faced back at the entrance where two shadowed forms appeared. Kakashi and some pale boy with black short hair walked in. Naruto threatening snarls made the ninja pause from getting closer. Kakashi rose his hand in surrender like fashion.
"Naruto, Hinata," the masked ninja calmly greeted to both but kept his eye on Hinata. His gaze wandered around her body, trying to assess her condition and health.
Naruto snarled louder and moved to cut his view from her.
"Now, now, Naruto, no need to get angry," Kakashi lazily pleaded with a smile. "We mean no harm."
"Just like how you didn't mean no harm before? Just like how you still attacked me when you meant no harm?!" The fox man lashed out.
"You're not in your right mind, Naruto. You have to understand that Hinata isn't safe with you now. Please give her to us and we'll leave you in peace."
"No," snarled out the agitated blond.
"If you don't well be forced to kill you," Kakashi's emotionless partner added as he dropped his pack.
"Sai," Kakashi said disapprovingly with a hint of a warning in his tone.
The fox male huffed in amusement at the pale ninja named Sai. "You think you can take me on? The whole Leaf village couldn't even take down one of Pain's clones. No. I already told you. Hinata. Is. MINE!"
Red cloak began forming around his fox-like body, making the air visibly stiffen around them. Kakashi lifted his headband to show his sharigan while Sai whipped out a black brush.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Yelled out the red cloaked blond. Two other Naruto's appeared and headed to attack his ex-teacher and ANBU shinobi. The original ran toward her and lifted her bride style.
"Naruto!" She squeaked in surprise and fear. The red cloak around his body began forming on her as well. She rose a hand in awe as she inspected the bubbling red chakra. His hold on her tightened as his tail formed a red charaka filled sphere.
"Rasenga!" He yelled as he threw it to the wall, causing it to turn to bits. As he jumped out and murmured to her, "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Protect her from what?! His sensei? The Leaf? What was happening?
As he ran deeper into the woods, the sound of fighting behind them drifted away. Hinata wanted to ask questions, demand answers, but she suddenly felt sleepy. Her eyelids against her will closed.
"I'll always protect you," she heard Naruto vow as a slight pressure on her forehead appeared and disappeared.
