I jolted awake, it was the fifth night I had dreamt about him. Klaus. Only recently my dreams had become filled with memories of the life I had left behind three years ago. A life that I miss. I miss my friends, I miss my mother and strangely enough I miss the vampire that had saved me from the danger I had been in.

"Caroline," turning my head I turned to see the silhouette of Elkie walking into my room . Elkie was a vampire like myself the two of us had met in Paris a year and a half ago. Ever since then the two of us had been friends. "Are you'right?" her Australian accent was thick with sleep which made it a little hard for me to understand. I nodded my head once I was able to decipher what she had just said.

"You know your accent is thicker when you're still half asleep right?" I asked, she nodded her head in understanding but didn't leave my room.

"You wanna talk about it?" she knew what had woken me and she was always there to listen even if what I say makes no sense she always knows how to make me feel slightly better. Sighing I nodded my head and she walked over before jumping on my bed beside me. The two of us sat in silence for a few moments before she broke it. "Did you dream about him again?"

"Yeah… this is the fifth night Elkie…"

"Maybe it is a sign?"

"A sign?" I questioned raising one of my brows at her, she rolled over and switched on one of my bedside lamps, I winced at the sudden brightness, I looked at the female who sat beside me her hair was a mess around her face, her raven curls were knotted and sat in awkward positions, automatically I reached out and tried to smooth them out.

"Leave my hair alone woman there are more pressing matters here," Elkie stated slapping my hands away, grabbing my wrists and looking into my eyes. Her eyes were locked with mine and she became serious. "You need to get back to Mystic Falls."

"What… why?" I was suddenly becoming very confused as to where she was going with this.

"Caroline… come on… use your head. It has been how many years since you have returned home? I think it is time you went back."

"That isn't it is it?" the smirk that spread across her face when began to realise what she was really getting at. "You want me to go back for Klaus?" she simply nodded her head. I groaned before shaking my head.

"Oh come one, how many times since you left have you dreamt about him?" I was swallowed into a silence, I had lost count of how many times I had dreamt about the Original. Ever since that night he saved me from Alaric. The silence between the two of us dragged out for several minutes before I broke it with another groan.

"Okay you have a point… but… what if I go back and…"

"And it's different?"

"Yes! He said he would find me…"

"He probably got lost finding you, it's not like you have a tracking device connected to you. Plus it has been three years since you have seen your mum… your friends… Caroline, if you're not going back for him at least go back for them. Don't you think they deserve to know why you left so quickly?"

It was true Elkie had a point, I did want to return and see my mother, however I was hesitant to see my friends. I didn't even know if they were still alive. I could only hope they were and that Alaric had been dealt with. "Elkie… do you think… uh…"

"Yes I will come with you," a squeal broke from my lips before I jumped forward wrapping my arms around the female in front of me. However I couldn't deny the small feeling of fear that sat in the pit of my stomach.
