Cassandra led Aaron on the thick ice through the mountains, towards the Breach. The Breach erupted again and Aaron fell to his knees, clenching his hand. He felt the energy flow through his body, leaving his toes and fingers tingling. He breathed and stood up. Cassandra grabbed his arm and pulled him along.

"We're almost there, we are meeting friends, just across this bridge," Cassandra said.

"Friends? What Friends?" Aaron asked.

"You'll find out soon enough," she said.

As they crossed, the Breach erupted, this time striking the bridge in front of Aaron with a rift. The bridge collapsed and Aaron and Cassandra fell to the ground below it. Aaron grunted from the fall and rubbed the back of his head.

Two demons found their way to them. Cassandra drew her shield and sword. Both demons advanced toward her. She bashed her shield at one and swung her sword at the other. Both demons were too much for her. One flanked her and slashed at her back.

Aaron was stunned at what started attacking them. He had never seen anything like the creatures before. His hand instinctively went for where his gun would be, but came back empty. He looked around for anything he could use to attack the demons with. Two small knives, like daggers, which had fallen with the bridge, were on the ground next to a shattered crate. Aaron remembered his friend, Su, who had taught him how to throw knives back in college. He had only practiced a couple times, but picking them up brought back the memories.

He swung his arm, releasing one dagger in the back of the demon flanking Cassandra. It turned its attention towards him. Aaron took the other dagger in his right hand and slashed it across its chest. The demon shrieked and flailed its arms, giving Aaron one more good slash across its belly. The demon hunched over and turned into ash by his feet. The dagger that Aaron threw in its back clattered to the floor when the demon disappeared.

He glanced at Cassandra and watched as she delivered the final blow to the demon attacking her.

She watched Aaron pick up the other dagger. "Put your weapons down," she commanded him with her sword drawn.

"Ok, no problem," Aaron said, arms raised surrendering his weapons as he slowly began to lower his dagger to the ground.

Cassandra sighed and sheathed her sword. "I cannot protect you and I cannot expect you to be defenseless. Pick up your daggers. We are almost there. We can climb that mountain."

Aaron nodded and picked up his knives.

He and Cassandra slayed several more demons along the way when they finally made it to the top of the mountain.

Upon arriving at their destination, Aaron saw a green tear in the sky with demons pouring out of it. Soldiers were trying their best to fight them. He saw several of them fall. But there were two strong people fighting with them. One was a bald man with pointed ears who wielded a staff and casted spells with his other hand. The other man was very short who used a crossbow. Cassandra immediately joined the fight. Aaron stood in shock at how strong they were. When they had fended off the demons, the bald man came to Aaron and took his left hand.

"Quickly, before more come through," he said grabbing his arm and holding it up to the green tear in the sky.

A light came out, connecting the tear to Aaron's hand. He clenched his teeth but realized it was not as painful as before. Energy flowed into his body through his hand. He felt the tear growing smaller until finally he felt the time to cut his hand from the tear, closing the anomaly in the sky. Any demons remaining alive disappeared.

"Woah! That was cool, what did you do?" Aaron asked the bald man.

"Me? I did nothing. The credit it yours," he replied.

"That thing went away because of me?" Aaron asked.

"Yes, and it seems my assumptions about you were correct," the bald man said. "That magic in the sky is also the same magic on your hand. I realized you might be able to close the rifts with your hand. And you did."

"Meaning it could also close the breach," Cassandra said.

"Possibly," the bald man said to Cassandra.

"Good to know we won't be ass-deep in demons forever," the short man commented. "The name's Varric."

"Varric," Aaron repeated.

"And I'm Solas," the bald man said.

Aaron looked between the two of them. "And are you from the…Chantry as well?" Aaron asked trying to remember the correct word.

"HA! Is that a serious question?" Solas laughed.

Cassandra scoffed. "Your help is appreciated Varric…"

"Seeker, I don't think you have been to the valley lately. Your soldiers can't do this without us. You need me," Varric said in protest.

Cassandra scoffed again and turned away.

"Well, we are pleased to see you still live," Solas said.

"He means I kept that mark from killing you while you slept," Varric said.

"Thank you. My name is Aaron by the way. I used to be a cop back from where I am from. Somehow I ended up here where magic and demons exists and people still wear armor and fight with swords…"

Varric and Solas looked at each other.

"It's always the looney ones who get all the credit," Varric said to Solas.

"Actually Varric, I'm going to have to disagree with you," Solas said looking at Aaron. "The place you are from, what do you call it?"

"You mean Chicago?" Aaron said.

"And what do you call your maker?" Solas asked.

"Maker? You mean like God?" Aaron asked. He never believed in God, but he thought that might be the question Solas was trying to ask.

"We call ours The Maker who sent Andraste as a symbol to the people," Cassandra chimed in.

"Similar to the story of God sending his son Jesus," Aaron said.

"Similar yes. I hope we can talk later. I want to know more about your world," Solas said.

"Yes and I yours," Aaron said.

"Alright boys, let's move. We need to get the breach closed," Cassandra said.

The group followed Cassandra further up the mountain to close the Breach.
