Emily woke up for the day at about nine o'clock and walked into the kitchen to find Jamie making pancakes and Eddie starting the coffee maker. She smiled and sat at the table.
"Did you have a good night apart from that one dream?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah, I fell back to sleep pretty quick, the tv helped I think." Emily replied and Jamie smiled.
"Maybe tonight, you could start with the tv on and see if you have a good night all the way through or not. If it's the white noise that helps, we can easily buy you a machine for that." Jamie added and Emily nodded.
"I'll try it and see. Maybe it will work." She agreed. Eddie smiled.
"We have to swing by the precinct and then I have to talk to our old Sergeant at our old precinct, but do you want to go shopping for your room and stuff afterwards?" Jamie asked.
"Sure. That sounds fun." Emily replied and Eddie smiled.
"It will also give you a chance to get familiar with the 29th at least. We'll have to let the desk sarge know to always send her straight to one of us and show her where your desk is babe." Eddie added. He nodded.
"Are you okay to handle all of this or do we need to wait a bit?"
"I'll be good. It's just a couple of police precincts, right?" They nodded and she smiled.
"Okay, just let me know if it gets to be too much and you and I can go back to the car and wait for him there." Eddie suggested.
"I will." She excused herself to go and get dressed for the day.
"Jay, how do you think Tony will react?" Eddie asked quietly.
"I honestly don't know. But it will be nice for her to get to know him and where the local precinct is, just in case. He'll have her back like he has ours no matter how he feels." She nodded. Emily returned in a short-sleeved purple dress that fell just above her knees and her favorite black converse sneakers on. She had brushed her curly red hair and pinned it neatly out of her face. Eddie set the table while Jamie finished making breakfast and they all sat down to eat.
An hour later the three walked through the doors of the 29th precinct and Jamie led them to his desk. He filed the paperwork he had taken home two nights before and made sure there wasn't anything important to deal with before they showed her around the precinct and introduced her to the desk sergeant. He happily agreed to send her to one of them right away if and when she walked in.
Ten minutes later and they began the fifteen-minute journey to the 12th. When they got out here, however, Tony was waiting for them on the steps.
"Reagan, Janko what did you two want to talk about?" He asked and then Emily stepped out of the car.
"Before you ask us what the hell we went and did, let me explain Sarge. Emily here is our foster daughter. We wanted to show her the local precinct and introduce her to a friendly face because we know that sometimes can be necessary to help people feel safer." Eddie explained hoping he would understand what she was trying to say without her saying it.
"Well then, I quite agree with you. It's lovely to meet you, young lady. I'm the Sergeant around here but you can call me Tony." He smiled and Emily thanked the heavens that he understood what Eddie meant and stretched her hand out for him to take. He did and she smiled.
"Hi. It's nice to meet you." She replied shyly.
"You let me know if you have any problems, especially with these two. I'll fix it right up for ya." Tony joked and she giggled.
"I don't think that will be necessary, but I will keep it in mind." He smiled and handed her a courtesy card and told her to use if she ever needed help with anything. She agreed to do so, and they left to go to the stores and find her some things for her bedroom. She enjoyed hanging out with them and after a long morning and early afternoon shopping trip, they went home to relax and help Emily set up her room.
"I didn't realize how much of this stuff was Harry Potter related. You really like it, huh?" Jamie asked.
"Yes. I'm a Hufflepuff. The Fantastic Beasts movies are good too. But the original books are my favorite."
"I'm a Ravenclaw and Eddie's a Gryffindor. We have all of the movies if you want to have a marathon or something." He replied and she grinned.
"That would be amazing." She grinned.
"I'll go set it up. Popcorn or candy?"
"Both, please." He chuckled.
"Finish up here and come join us. Let me know if you need any help."
"I should be okay. I only have a few more posters to hang." She called as he went to tell Eddie what they were doing and set up for their Harry Potter marathon. Eddie squealed and went to put on her Gryffindor onesie pajama. She also grabbed her stuffed Hedwig. Emily came out in a Hogwarts t-shirt and Hufflepuff sweats. She had a stuffed Dobby. They looked at each other and then burst out laughing.
"This is great." Eddie smiled. They sat on the couch with the snacks and their drinks as Jamie went to put on a Harvard t-shirt and his Ravenclaw sweats. Eddie pressed play on the remote and they settled in as they all quoted some of their favorite lines out loud. After the fourth movie, Goblet of Fire, it was nearing midnight and they had to be up for church and Sunday dinner the next day.
"Good night." Emily yawned.
"Night kid." Jamie hugged her and she hugged him back before hugging Eddie.
"Are you sure you will be alright tomorrow?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah. I should be fine as long as you guys are there." Emily replied and went to her room. Jamie and Eddie went into their room and Jamie jumped into the shower so that Eddie and Emily could take their showers in the morning. Emily decided to still try having the tv on all night and fell asleep quickly. She stayed asleep until her alarm went off at seven forty-five. She smiled and turned off the tv after she realized what happened. She got out of bed and got into the shower before She got ready for church. She curled her hair and brushed her hair before putting on a blue t-shirt dress and a pair of black flats before she went out to greet Jamie and Eddie for breakfast.
"Hey." She said as she sat at the table.
"Hey. Did the tv in the background all night work?" Eddie asked.
"It did. That was the first night in two months nightmare free." Emily smiled.
"That's great. We'll have to order that machine and see if it can help you get over them entirely." Jamie replied as he and Eddie placed their food on the table. They said grace and ate quickly so they wouldn't be late for church.
