Chapter 2

Mako's POV

Korra and I spent the day in our room and did.. What a married couple do. Even though we had missed everyone, we still wanted to be alone for a while and get used to be in our new room, and to be home for that matter. We didn't even go down to get dinner with the others; we got the dinner brought to our room.

It didn't feel strange when I woke up with Korra's head on my chest, it felt great to open my eyes and the first thing I saw in the morning was my beautiful wife. I tightened my grip around Korra's waist a bit, and just enjoyed the feeling. After a while I started caressing her waist, and when she turned her head and giggled, I knew she was awake.

"Good morning love." I said and kissed the top of her head.

"Morning." She replied with a voice that was heavy with sleep.

"Did you sleep well?"

"Mhmm." She hummed. I smiled. I had learned quite fast that my wife wasn't a morning person, but she had never complained about getting up early, only about the mornings were evil. The memory about the first time she had said that made me chuckle.

"What's so funny?" she asked tiredly as she tilted her head to look at me.

"Mornings are evil." I chuckled again, and this time she joined me, after she had hit me gently in the stomach.

"So…" She asked after a bit of silence. "What are we going to do today?"

I send her a goofy smile before rolling over so I was on top of her. She laughed as I playfully started kissing her neck, before looked at her with a smile playing on my lips.

"I was thinking we could spend all day in bed," I leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips. "What do you say?"

"I've got nothing to say against that." Was Korra's answer as she threw her arms around my neck and pulled me down for another kiss which I couldn't help, but smile into. A day in bed it was then. At least for a bit - I had already planned the rest of the day for us.

Korra's POV

I yawed as I stared into my closet trying to find something that I could wear for the day. The time was well over noon, and the thought of the morning made me blush.

"You're not getting dressed?" I heard Mako asking me, as I felt his arms around my waist.

"You did say we were going to spend the day in bed, didn't you?" I turned around in his arms and put my arms around his neck and gave him a kiss, which he broke.

"Don't tempt me, Korra," He said pulling away with a smile. "I've made plans for us, and no," He quickly said as I opened my mouth to ask what those 'plans' were "I won't tell you."

"Unfair." I pouted and Mako laughed.

"Get dressed, Love," He just told me as he removed his arms and unwrapped mine. "There will be enough time later, I promise."

"There better be." I told him sternly, but with a smile on my lips. Mako who was already wearing trousers, but missing his shirt laughed again as he gave me a quick kiss before he turned to his own closet to find a shirt I suppose.

"Remember that you said yes to be married to me until death do us part. So there is going to be plenty of time."

I just nodded with a big smile on my lips as I turned towards my closet again and moved the big dresses aside to find a pair of pants instead. There would be plenty of days where I would have to wear them, so for now I would prefer to wear 'normal' clothes while I can. I quickly got dressed in a pair of black pants, a blue shirt and a pair of shoes. When I turned around Mako was dressed as well and threw a jacket at me. I looked down at it before looking up seeing him smiling at me while putting on a jacket himself.

"What-?" I started, but Mako didn't let me finish. Instead he just walked over and gave me a quick kiss.

"Come on." He said, taking my jacket and helping me get it on. I took the black jacket on, and Mako took my hand and led me out of our room. People bowed at us as we walked by and the realization that I truly was the queen of this place hit me. It was soo… unbelievable. Mako seemed to notice that something was wrong, but all he did was squeezing my hand a bit and send me a reassuring smile.

"Where are we going?" I tried asking him.

"It's a surprise." He just smiled secretly at me. He led me out of the castle where a brown horse was waiting with Naga by its side.

"Hey girl." I petted her for a bit and she had clearly missed me as much as I had missed her. As I turned around I saw Mako talking to a guard but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I opened my mouth ready to ask my husband again where we were going, but Mako didn't give me the chance, before he grabbed my waist and lifted me up onto the horse.

"Mako!" I yelped as I quickly moved me leg so I was sitting with a leg on each side of Naga, who moved impatiently underneath me. Mako just shot me a grin, as he got up on his own horse.

"Let's see who's the fastest!" He then yelled, and I glared at him playfully.

"But I don't know where we're going!"

"Then keep up!" He shot me a smile, before setting off and I quickly urged Naga to follow him. People stared at us as we almost flew out of the city and onto the road. The wind made my hair fly behind me and I couldn't help, but laugh as I raced after Mako out of the city. He seemed to know where he was going as I followed him down the roads towards… Well. I didn't know where we were going.
