Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There!

Chapter 1: Paradise's Call. The Numbskulls.

I decided to strike out on my own, with Bulby and Spartan by my side, there's nothing we can't do! I'm kind of writing this all down in a journal, so… you'll get a more casual picture of what things were like for me. Back when I was younger, I dreamt of being a Pokemon professor or trainer, now I had it. Bulby and Spartan were excited. He was riding on my hat as Bulby toddled behind me at a reasonable pace.

I decided to go to Hau'oli to stock up on supplies and train my boys, little did we know that a curious little rowlet was following us. I rested on a bench, my shopping complete. I grabbed a pack of twenty potions for a half-off deal. I also grabbed some necessary items for myself, like a new tent and a new sleeping bag.

"Ee-ve! E-e!" Spartan called, poking his little head out from under my hat. Someone was walking towards me, someone familiar. She had striking blue eyes and long brown hair in twin ponytails, her espurr was fastened to her chest in a papoose, his odd pinkish-purple eyes staring into my warm brown eyes.

"Hey there, small bro!" she greeted, holding out her arm as her talonflame alighted on it. He nuzzled her as her wartortle marched up behind her, yelling his name in an intense militaristic march.

Spartan jumped out of my hat, growling and snarling at the talonflame, he had gained a fear of flying type Pokemon after the spearow incident, so much so that he gained the ability to channel electric currents through his body, which was a hint of what he was going to evolve into, his single brown eye glared at the talonflame as he just looked down at him nonplussed.

"Eevee! E-e!" Spartan challenged, his eye flashing with lightning.

"Looks like Spartan's raring to go! How 'bout a little battle?" I asked, smiling as I remembered all of those times she beat me and Bulby. Now that I had an Electric Potential eevee, this would be a cakewalk!

"Alright, Go, Talonflame!" my sister yelled, talonflame took to the air as Spartan braced himself.

It swooped down as Spartan dodged without me having said so, he smiled as I spread my hand out.

"SPARTAN! POTENTIAL UNLOCK!" I yelled as a field of sparks coalesced from various machinery and vending machines around the city. He smirked as he dashed into the vicinity of talonflame. His sparks flared as he leaped into the air, the sparks helping his ascension.

Spartan slammed into talonflame, sending sparks into his body. I was filled with joy until Spartan landed again, looking at me like, 'Give up! Hurry!' He ended up leaping into my arms in tears.

"Spartan, I'm sorry! I forgot you were scared of flying types… I concede the battle, Jinx! Man, you're really good at battling!" I exclaimed as Jinx shook her head.

"Nah, you just conceded! You have to stop being so scared of your Pokemon getting hurt. You have to live through it, remember your bagon? How it evolved into a salamence and left? Maybe she sensed that you didn't want her to fly away…" she sighed, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"But… she didn't want to leave! Mom didn't want me to have a giant dragon so I had to let her go! She was pretty much the only Pokemon I was able to get to its third stage! Just look at Bulby! I can't even get him to his second! But fine, fine! Rub that failure in my face…" I sighed, petting my little eevee as Bulby squeaked and nuzzled me.

"They still stay with you, Allie. They're good Pokemon, you stay safe, now!" Jinx said as talonflame landed on her shoulder. She walked away as another person came up, it was Lillie.

"Oh hey! How's it going?" I asked.

"Who was that?" she wondered.

"That was my sister, her name is Jolynne, but we all call her Jinx, so what can I do for you?" I wondered.

"I was wondering… and I know we just met a day ago, but… can you help me with something? Or rather, someone?" she asked.

"Yeah, I think I will! So who is it?" I wondered as a small nebulous pokemon came out of her bag.

"Pew!" it greeted, waving its little arms in greeting as I smiled at it.

"Is this who you want to help? If so, then I'll help this little guy out!" I agreed, nodding as Spartan yowled in joy and Bulby chirred in agreement.

"But I haven't explained what and where he's from…" Lillie sighed.

"That doesn't matter, I'm just here so I can see the world! And it's always better with friends, right?" I ventured as Lillie looked up at me. I smirked as Spartan climbed onto my hat. Bulby returned to his ball.

I looked around for a little bit more until I saw them. They wore black and white, with bandanas covering their lower face. Lillie grabbed onto my arm, looking up at me with fear in her eyes for some reason.

"Ey yo! You a Unovan, right?" one of them called.

"What's it to you?" I answered.

"EY YO, DEEJAY! Bring out the boombox!" the man yelled to his compatriot.

The other guy gave him a thumbs up and fired up the small boombox in his hand.

(Team Skull Encounter Theme starts to play.)

"You gotta be kidding me…" I sighed as the guy started to dance-walk towards me. I tipped my hat down as Spartan jumped down.

"What? You think you hard?! You gotta have rocks in your skull!" the guy yelled as Spartan growled at him.

He sent out a drowzee.

"Alright, Go, Bulby! Open with a Vine Whip!" I called as my bulbasaur launched out of his ball and whipped the drowzee downward.

The drowzee dodged as Bulby was waiting for that.

"Seed Bomb!" I commanded as he shot small bombs out of his bulb and barraged the drowzee with them. The drowzee fell to the barrage as Bulby hopped and squeaked in joy. I looked to the Deejay and the other one as they ran off in fear.

"Whew… that's that!" I cheered.

"So…" I said, turning to my cowering companion, "Where to?"

"The Ruins of Conflict," Lillie said as she took the lead.

This is gonna be an odd adventure... considering the day I've had so far, I guess that there's nothing stranger than being attacked by the rejects from High School Musical... but maybe there's something even stranger.
