AN: Still don't own it and I make no money from this.

Chapter 2

After introductions were made I asked if I could use the kitchen and make myself something to eat. That was when I learned that Beast Boy and Cyborg get very protective of the contents of the community fridge and if I intended to store anything in there it needed to be labeled and put in a proper area of the fridge. Cyborg proceeded to ask me if I had any dietary restrictions or any food pet peeves. I got a laugh out of Beast Boy when I said that I did not eat anything with a face on it and considering several of the "Edible" things I found in the fridge after opening it for the first time was probably a good idea on my part. Robin looked at me with a disgusted look on his face and flashed me a grin "That is a very smart way of looking at it.

After moving into the living room and sitting down on the couch Starfire asked me how I got my powers and if I had been a crime fighter when I lived in my old hometown. I told her no I had not and as to how I got my powers that was a very interesting story. Beast Boy, Cyborg and Robin leaned it to listen in and I saw Raven pause in her reading to listen as well.

It all started a month or so after my 17th birthday. I was walking home from school and as I was passing through a vacant lot several streets away from my house I heard a cry of pain. As I went towards the sound I saw two thugs hitting an old woman while two others rifled through her purse. I picked up a metal pipe that was lying on the ground near my feet and ran toward them. Swinging the pipe with a cry I clocked one of the thugs going through her purse in the head and he went down like a marionette whose strings had been cut. The second thug dropped the woman's purse which spilled onto the ground and advanced towards me pulling out a knife as he got closer.

Quickly I swung the pipe and wacked him in the stomach and then in the jaw when he doubled over in pain, he too collapsed, by now the other two guys had stopped going after the woman and started towards me I dropped the pipe and as it was falling I kicked it towards the first guy after it hit him and he fell down I tried to grab the pipe but the other guy got to it first. Picking it up he sneered at me and said "You're gonna get it now dumbass that was a big mistake." I simply took off my hoodie and made a flourish with it like a matador would and said bring it. Running towards me with a yell he tried to hit me with the pipe and I wrapped my hoodie around the pipe and trapped it under my arm. Kicking him in the stomach and then rabbit punching him twice in the head caused him to fall to the ground moaning in pain. Standing over him I told him to pick up himself and his buddies and leave if he did not want me to call the cops on him.

As he and two friends picked up the third guy and quickly ran off I went over to the woman and knelt down, touching her shoulder gently I asked if she was ok. She looked up at me and the first thing I noticed was her split lip and slowly swelling cheek. The second thing I noticed was her eyes. One was blue and one was green. She looked at me with those eyes and it felt like she could see into my soul, she then grabbed my arm and using it as a crutch stood up and said "You were very foolish to try and save me young man, foolish but brave. You have a good heart and a kind soul for saving me I should give you a reward". I told her that no reward was necessary and that I just was in the right place at the right time, she smiled a quick little smile at that and gave a small nod. I asked her if I could help her home or to the nearest hospital and she just patted me on the arm and told me to run along and that she would be fine. I picked up her purse and after putting all of the spilled contents back into it I handed it to her and began walking away back towards the street that would take me back home.

As I was leaving the lot I heard her say "You will be rewarded for this young man. This is yours to do with what you will but never lose sight of your inner light." I looked back at her to retort something and when I looked to where she was last, she had vanished. I hurried home and put the old woman out of my mind until I went to bed that night, as I rolled over and started to fall asleep I though over the day and I was happy that I did the right thing even if the woman was a little weird. Little did I know how much my life would change from that one act of kindness!
