When morning finally came around the following day, Toon Link was not, obviously, expecting any difference to come out the conversation that his adoptive brother and father had the night before. As he had anticipated, his father continued to give him the cold shoulder, so there was no apparent change there. Toon did, however, see a completely different side of Young Link that morning.

As soon as he awakened, Toon yawned and stretched before turning to greet his brother, who sat at the edge of the bed pondering what he wanted to do that day.

"Good morning," Toon greeted.

Young angrily replied, "What's so good about it?"

Toon was a bit startled by his response. Why didn't Young happily wish him a good morning like he usually would have? Was the talk with their father that bad?

"What's the matter with you?"

Young looked to and turned up his nose at Toon, indicating that he wasn't in the mood to talk. With a grunt, Young stormed out of the room without another word to his brother.

"I wonder what got into him…" Toon muttered to himself. Trying not to think anything more of his brother's unusual demeanor, he hopped out of bed, changed into his green tunic, and promptly exited the bedroom, curious to discover what the new day had in store for him, all the while figuratively crossing his fingers that something good would actually come his way. He soon spotted his loving adoptive mother Zelda in the foyer and approached her with open arms. "Good morning, mother! Can I ask you something?"

Zelda lovingly wrapped her arms around her adoptive son and answered, "Of course you can, sweetie! What is it?"

"Well, you're aware of the way Dad treats me, right?"

"Yes, unfortunately. Why?"

Toon struggled to get the words out of his mouth. He wasn't sure if his mother would consider punishing him for ratting out on his brother. "I-I think Young Link is starting t act like him. I wished him a good morning when I woke up, but he just snapped at me! He was just the opposite yesterday!"

The Hylian princess folded her arms in disappointment. "How strange. I'm going to have to have a talk with him."

"You still love me, don't you, Mom?"

With a sympathetic sigh, Zelda joined her son in an embrace once more. "I will always love you, sweetie. The fact that you were adopted doesn't affect how I feel about you. You're still my son, either way." She gave Toon a peck on the cheek and abruptly turned to leave. "Now, start getting ready. The four of us are going out to eat."

Toon's big cat eyes suddenly enlarged. "What?! I'm not going anywhere with them!"

"Oh, don't mind them. Just don't pay attention to them, and I'm sure you'll be fine."

Toon sighed heavily as he did what Zelda instructed him to do. He really wasn't looking forward to spending more time with those giving him the cold shoulder…

"Here I go. I sure hope I can survive through this…"

Later, the Legend of Zelda family found itself at the unusually-overcrowded Smash Café that was just down the street from the mansion. Toon begrudgingly sat by his father in a booth after Young whined to sit by Zelda and begged to be seated away from his brother. Toon had to remind himself to avoid eye contact with Link and Young.

After a waitress had come by to take their orders, Toon excused himself to use the restroom. During his brief absence, Zelda decided that she had a bone to pick with her husband.

"Honey, I think we need to have a talk."

Link eyed her suspiciously, as if his wife was about to falsely accuse him for something he hadn't done. "Sure, what for?"

"Well, I've given it some thought, and I've been wondering… Do you think you could treat Toon Link a little better? At least show him some love and respect as you would with Young Link here?"

Link's suspicious scowl suddenly melted into an angry glare. "What are you talking about, woman? What makes you think that I don't treat him well?"

"I just think that he feels like he's not special because, you know…he's the adopted one in the family. I'd appreciate it if you could treat him the same way you would treat us."

Link peered over his shoulder to see their waitress approaching them. He looked back at Zelda and replied, "Hold that thought."

"I'm very sorry, sir," the waitress announced as soon as she arrived at their table, "but there isn't enough spaghetti for both you and your son."

The Hylian knight smiled and winked at her reassuringly and responded, "You know what to do."

The waitress nodded in agreement and walked away. Zelda grinned at her husband's response, believing that he had heeded her words and that their female food server, in a way, had been ordered by Link to make special arrangements and give Toon the spaghetti just as he had requested. She wondered that if that was the case what her husband was going to eat instead.

A few minutes later, Toon returned from the restroom and was met with an unpleasant surprise. Instead of the spaghetti he ordered, he found a plain bowl of noodle-less soup broth sitting on the table in front of his seat. He looked at Link's plate to find that it held the very food that Toon had ordered.

The little wind waker immediately became furious and bawled, "What the heck happened to my food? I didn't order this broth!"

"I'm eating it, you little brat," Link stated irritably. "There wasn't enough for the both of us, so we had to make a compromise."

"…Th-This isn't fair!" Toon Link wailed, tears welling up in his eyes. "You always treat me like this! I don't need to take this! I deserve better!" he exclaimed before promptly dashing out of the café.

After having witnessed the entire scene, Young Link immediately began to feel regret for the way he behaved towards his brother that morning. As a child, he knew he was expected to learn from his parents, and remembering the conversation with Link about his royal bloodline, he decided that he should act the way a future king should: with respect and kindness. As soon as Toon exited the establishment, Young looked to his father with an angry glower, and his mother followed suit.

"I'm very disappointed in you, Link," Zelda said, shaking her head. "I'm ashamed to call you my husband."

After seeing the disappointment in the faces of his wife and biological son, Link sighed heavily and placed the palm of his hand on his face. "Well," he thought to himself, "I'm certainly not Father or Husband of the Year material…"

Meanwhile, at the Smash Bros. mansion, the powerful Psychic Pokemon Mewtwo and the quick Ninja Pokemon Greninja were sharing a conversation amongst each other, when Toon suddenly burst through the mansion's front doors, bringing with him his ear-deafening, thunderous wailing. The Pokemon immediately cut their conversation short as Toon quickly approached them.

"Young child! What is the cause of this sadness?" Mewtwo inquired.

"Oh, it's horrible, Mewtwo! My own father does not even love me! He called me a brat and took the food I should have eaten at the Smash Café! I don't know what to do anymore!"

"Oh, so sorry to hear that, Toon Link," Greninja piped up.

"Yes, it does appear that you are going through some tough times," the Psychic Pokemon stated. "My advice is that maybe you should just run away…"

"Run away?!" Greninja exclaimed in disbelief. "Why on earth would you want him to do that?"

"Well, I do have an understanding of where Toon Link is coming from," he replied, stroking the little swordsman's hair. "I know what it's like to be mistreated."

"So, what you're saying is…I should just leave the mansion?"

"That's right. Believe me; it's for your own good."

Toon paused for a brief moment to give this some thought. He decided that running away would be the best choice and thanked the Pokemon before dashing to his bedroom to plan his getaway.

Later that day, when nightfall came around, after quietly sneaking out of bed to avoid waking his family, Toon tiptoed into the walk-in closet in the bedroom and began preparing his belongings to bring along on his great escape. He gathered the necessities, such as a flashlight, a cell phone, and his own Master Sword. He grabbed a bag of trail mix, a couple of candy bars and a water bottle in case he became hungry along the way. He stored all of his items in a knapsack and promptly exited the bedroom, looking back to make sure he hadn't woken up his adoptive family. After checking to see that none of his other fellow Smashers were awake, Toon swiftly made his way to the front entrance of the mansion.

He quickly glanced at his surroundings and uttered, "Well, this is the last I'll ever see of the inside of this place." He walked outside the door and whispered a celebratory "Yes!" as soon as he shut the entrance. He took a few steps on the mansion's walkway, and just before he was going to make himself absent for good, he turned to face the manor and exclaimed, "Goodbye, Smash Bros.!"
