I never got their names, but the bad guys, as I'm referring to them as, led me to their craft and oh so kindly shoved me into one of the seats, strapping me in securely. "I'm so glad you care so much for my safety," I joked to the leader as I scoured the floor for any shadows I could use.

He didn't even blink. "If you are to join us, you must be in perfect condition. It would not serve our purposes for you to be injured in transport."

"How caring of you. I'm touched, really," I muttered blandly. Seventeen League of Shadows members that I know of sat or hovered around me, meaning seventeen shadows that I could 'borrow' for the time being. "So, I don't get to know where my mystery vacation will be," I guessed as I glanced around the ship. It was nice by all means with just enough light to avoid absolute darkness, but it was obvious that the Justice League was way ahead of them in terms of technology, alien-tech being what it is and all.

"No," the leader responded. "but you will find out soon enough."

I shrugged. "Okay, then do I get to know the name of my captor? 'Evil Leader' is only entertaining for so long." Not to mention how very much generic it is.

"Unimaginative and inaccurate," he sighed as he walked towards me. His taller than average height became apparent as his shadow grew to span the length of the ship. "I am Zorac."

"Zorac and his merry men. How quaint," I muttered under my breath as he walked away taking his shadow with him. This whole kidnapping scenario seemed like overkill. I would have been on Earth to capture if they had waited a day. No one would have even known I was gone. "So, why the kidnapping?"

Zorac turned from his place monitoring the ship's route. "You are powerful and could be useful. What else is there?"

"Oh, I don't know, willing." I huffed as he ignored me and I stared hard at the wall across from me, waiting for shadows to appear for me to steal. "And I'm not that powerful. I'm actually pretty useless." I saw his headgear tilt in my direction, so I kept talking. "I use shadow magic, so I'm pretty much useless in pitch black and I'm really not good with a lot of light, living shadow and all."

"Is that so?" I had his attention. He turned to face me fully, but didn't step any closer.

"Well, yeah." I shrugged as he continued to stare at me.

"So what can you do?" He implored, taking a few steps towards me and into the light which brought back his shadow.

I grinned. "I'm really good at making shadow puppets and painting silhouettes." I held my hands up to the light and laughed as an image of a dog's head formed on the wall of the ship across from my seat.

"Be serious," he growled. "If you don't have a useful ability, we'll just kill you now."

I smirked, but dropped my hands anyway, carefully collecting the shadow before it was lost. "I'm shadowborn. I can control your mind by playing in the shadows of doubt and fear in your heart," I sneered. "I can jump between shadows and slit your throat in your sleep. I can even crash this ship by making the shadows in the engines come to life and block the rotors." I barely saw his hand before I felt the sting of the slap on my cheek. I growled, but was cut off.

"Want to play games?" He snarled. " You try anything and we will kill your allies in the Justice League. How does that sound?"

I bit back whatever retort I was going to make and instead stared out through the window by my shoulder. I was almost set, but needed just a little bit more.

"That's a good girl,' he mocked before turning back to the capitan. "What's out ETA?"

"Two hours sir," the captain replied. "Forty-five minutes if we forego the second quadrant."

"Do it," Zorac ordered. "The sooner we get her to the boss, the sooner we are rid of her." From the corner of my eye, I could tell that the responding nod he got annoyed the crap out of him and that the shadow of the captain was within my reach.

I glanced around at the shadows around me, and checked again when I noticed that one was missing. "Hey, Zorac?" I waited until I saw some form of him listening to go on. "Where's Merlyn?"

He chuckled, a deep, dry sound. "He decided not to make the return trip and stayed on the Watchtower with your friends."

I watched as several of the killers on board shared amused looks. "So, you left him for the good guys to find. Presumably unconscious with some type of incriminating evidence on his person."

Zaroc nodded with a smirk, leaning on a wall. "He was useful for a time, but dreadfully annoying. Not that you're much easier to tolerate, but we get paid a hell of a lot more to deal with you."

"That makes me feel so special, but there is a flaw in your plan, ya know," I muttered as I examined the nails on my left hand. They were black, as always, but one was clear. "You wouldn't happen to have any black nail polish on hand would you?" Not that it would work on my nails.

"No," he sneered. "Now, what, pray tell, is the flaw in our plan?" He stepped closer to me and settled with his arms crossed over his chest. I smiled. He had just brought his shadow close enough for me to steal.

"You don't see it?" I asked lazily. "It's right in front of you."

"Remember the rules to our game Nightshade. Spit it out or we'll kill a friend of yours." He gestured to the screen with the footage of Kara, Diana, Wally, and J'onn slowly waking up.

"Fine," I muttered before taking a deep breath, bringing my magic to the surface. "You kept me conscious." With a final glance at Zorac and the screen, I jumped through the shadows I had been gathering behind me and left the ship for the shadows in the corner of my room on the Watchtower.

I've transported people before, but they always complain about how cold the shadows are to travel through, nevermind that they are instant and faster than any other method of travel. I never understood that.

Stepping out of the shadows in my room, I barely had a chance to breathe before the back of my uniform was yanked so roughly that I choked. Without time to recover, I was dragged out of my room and into the main wing of the Watchtower where everyone seemed to be gathered. Being dropped on my ass, I caught my breath and stood. Turning in a circle, I saw the founding members lined up facing me and everyone else standing in a wide circle around me, trapping me. "What's going on?"

It was Superman that stepped forward. "Nightshade, you have been accused and found guilty of treason against the Justice League."
