Prologue
Leafstorm watched as Mintstar appeared." Greetings Mintstar." She dipped her head to the former Thunderclan leader."Leafstorm. I have a prophecy for you." She growled flicking her tail and looked around. "What is it?" She asked." The Rush of the flame will rise with the frost of a holly and they will rise with Red." She said jerked up and looked around the medicine den. She watched as Icepaw murmured in her sleep and roll over. She thought of the prophecy and thought of the newborn kit Rushkit. Would he be the rush of flame? She glanced around then settled into her nest to think.
Two moons later Rushkit yowled to Snowkit and firekit" Badger! Protect the clan." Snowkit leaped at a log and yowled" Out of our camp!" FIrekit and Rushkit clawed at the log." Kits! Out of Beetleclaw and Sunfur's way!" Raindrizzle meowed coming out of the nursery and nudging them back to their den." But mom." Snowkit meowed" Not right now Snowkit it's time for your nap. All of you." Raindrizzle said sternly. "Fine." Rushkit muttered and trudged to his nest.
Hollykit leaped onto the nursery wall and then jumped onto a ledge and yowled to Crowflight" Mom! Look at me!" Crowflight glared t her and snarled" Get down from there Hollykit. Your going to get into trouble." Hollykit flinched and closed her jumped down and slowly walked to the nursery." Why don't you like me anymore? What did I do to make you hate me?" She whispered hoarsely to herself. She rolled up in her nest and tucked her nose under her tail and closed her eyes falling asleep.
Red raced down the twoleg alley the dogs barking behind her furiously. She turned the corner ducked her head and barged past another jumped onto the fence and slithered down, leaving the dogs barking."Ha-ha. Stupid mutts go pick on someone else cause you won't be getting me!" She heard a bird caw and looked over at the lake with the mysterious clans. She jumped down and slowly padded to toward the clans. Maybe I could make a new friend? She thought as she started to run faster. She leaped into a tree and jumped from tree to tree till she found a clan territory.
The rise has begun.
Chapter 1
Rushpaw
Rushpaw ran silently beside Snowpaw and Firepaw. They were attempting to hunt but so far they had found nothing." Squrriel!" Snowpaw hissed her green eyes lighting up. Rushpaw nodded and circled around while Firepaw went the other direction. Rushpaw ran after it and lead it to Firepaw who lead it to Snowpaw. She leapt onto it and snapped it's spine. Rushpaw started forward then heard a rustling noise." Rushpaw come on." Firepaw yowled." We probably scared all of the prey off." He glanced at the bushes then said" Go ahead I'll catch up." He crouched down and stalked towards the bushes" Come out I know your there." He snarled. He unsheathed his claws as a dark red she cat jumped out at him." Hi!"She said her eyes bright with friendliness." who are you?' Rushpaw asked warily." I'm Red." The she-cat-Red- said. What's your name?" Rushpaw eyed her and stood up." Rushpaw. Your in Thunderclan territory. Get out now before I make you." He scowled at her. She nodded and whipped around into the darkness.
"Where'd you go?" Snowpaw asked around the squirrel." Thought I'd check the border real quick." Rushpaw said shrugging. They walked into camp and Rushpaw started toward Deeplake when Leafstorm stopped him." Rushpaw. Come with me. Now." She meowed briskly. He looked at her quizzically then shrugged and followed." Listen closely because I'm only telling you this once. There is a prophecy. The Rush of the flame will rise with the frost of a holly and they will rise with Red." She hissed." What? Why are you telling me this?" He asked." You will find out soon. Now, go back to your friends." He raced out and stumbled into Icewing." Hey Rushpaw. Getting into fights again?" She purred reminding him how he was always having to come to the medicine den when he was first apprenticed." Nope. Leafstorm wanted me for something." He meowed." Icewing! Stop chitchatting and come here." Icewing rolled her and purred a goodbye and padded into her den.
Rushpaw rolled over in his sleep and opened his eyes and saw a cat standing above him looking at him in disdain. "Finally. Get up slow poke." The cat purred all of a sudden. He got up and asked" Who are you?" The cat walked to him and curled her tail around him" Not important right now. But what is that I will teach you how to be a great warrior." She purred her voice as smooth as honey. "Really?" He asked perking his ears up." Of course. Up up up. Let's go meet someone." She meowed bounding away as she talked." OK wait for me!" Rushpaw meowed and ran to her. They met a grey tabby cat with dark amber eyes and a long scar down his ear and kept going to his chest." Greyfang." The she-cat nodded." Ravenfrost." Greyfang growled in greeting." Reqruit?" He meowed looking at Rushpaw pure disdain."Yes and your going to be good to him." Ravenfrost snapped looking at Greyfang. All of a sudden Rushpaw was thrown out of his dream and in the apprentice's den.
