A/N: Yay~ I'm back! Hehe... so it begins, the actual story!
"The time has come, Ozpin," Stated Glynda as she walked toward him in his office. "call the others and tell them to meet us in the amphitheater."
"Of course, lets get this party started shall we?" Ozpin answered with a smug look.
Clack clack clack clack...
Glynda had just walked away with a huff, Ozpin: 237, Glynda: 4. Heh. Better catch up to her though, they will be here any minute now.
In the amphitheater (aka: the auditorium for the students here), Glynda was walking toward the center stage where the portal still emitted pulses of energy. Quite fast now that there was not much time till it burst.
As Glynda began making miniature gateways to each seat, Ozpin walked in closely followed by his two most trusted teachers, Professor Oro and Professor Night. And by the time the three of them made it up there with her, she was almost finished with her work the pulses frequency increased to a consistent hum, signaling that it was ready and just needed to be activated. And after a brief silence, all was ready.
Once the portal was activated, everyone had to close their eyes as it emitted one last pulse, one so bright and powerful that all that remained of the portal was a very large scorch mark.
After their eyes readjusted to the auditorium the quartet was met with a little over 60 pairs of eyes looking at them or dazed themselves.
Hm... not too bad a turnout... now its time for Ozpin to give a speech. Hopefully he doesn't fail this time.
"Hello, thank you for coming here today. As you so well know, I, Ozpin, have requested your help to participate in an upcoming war. Now, before I start, is there anyone here who has had second thoughts about this and chose to leave? This is your last chance. Keep in mind, if you die, it won't be the end, rather you'll start where you left off."
Not one person raised their hand, which was good, but it was worrisome that some of those people had cast glances toward something... Ozpin wasn't able to make it out.
Perhaps someone will say something about what has them uneasy...
A few moments pasted and no one said a word, still waiting patiently for Ozpin to continue.
Very well, I will find out eventually.
"Very well then, if that is the case, then let me answer your questions. This war is about Faunus rights, and Faunus exist due to this place being a world called Remnant, at a place in Vacuo. If you don't know what Faunus are, they are humans with some physical traits of an animal, such as a pair of ears or a tail."
That got their attention, as there was a surge of chatter after he paused to let them take it all in, although many more glances were once again cast in that same place...
After everyone quieted Ozpin continued, "With that being said, much more will make sense to you. But, most likely still want answers, and you will get them, in time. Any questions?"
"Um, sir? May I go back home?" A random person asked nervously.
"Why of course, any of you who don't wish participate in this, step to the right and you will follow Professor Night, the one in black. But I must tell you this, your life here will end, and you won't be able to come here ever again. Furthermore, you are not to say anything about this outside these doors, because if you do, chaos will ensue. And lastly, no one said you would have to fight, if you have the mind of an intellectual you can help plan and help in social affairs." Ozpin answered.
After that, no one budged except 3 or 4 people who followed Professor Night outside to be 'killed'.
"Very well then, if that is all, them those of you left are to form two lines. Those strong in the body to the left, and those of the mind, to the right." Ozpin finished.
In total there were about 40 intellectuals and 20 activists.
Hm... we'll have to test them to make sure... And find out what they were glancing at.
"Oh, should I add that those on the right will be tested to make sure you are educated intellectuals."
Instantly more than half of the people on the 'intellectuals' side switched over, and some headed in the direction of Professor Night. That left 15 intellectuals and about 40 activists. Much better.
"Oro, take care of the activists. Glynda, take care of the intellectuals. I'm going to finish up here and check up on Night." Ozpin dismissed.
Time to find out...
To my chagrin, the first thing I realized is that my head really, really hurts. I tried to open my eyes but there was too much light, so I kept them shut. I was blind, I couldn't see, couldn't think... I'm practically dead. Ugh, I really regret accepting that letter thingy. Although I could do one thing, listen to a very determined ring... luckily I grew a very long fuse, because I'm pretty sure I would've exploded by now.
"Ah, he is finally awake! Get the doctor and inform Ozpin!" someone exclaimed, though Alex only registered Ozpin.
I wanted to call Ozpin, but that is when I realized my throat was also as dry as my head hurt, so all that came out was a hoarse grunt. Yay.
Eventually a door opened and someone walked in, apparently a doctor because not long after did I feel a slight twinge of pain on my arm. Unfortunately, my body decided to go back sleep after that, even though I wanted some answers...
Too tired... can wait...
Next time 'round I much better, to much so. It was as if I could lift a train. Unfortunately, or rather, fortunately, the constant ring was replaced with rapid nonsense from my personalities. Despite that, I still managed to hear voices, so I sat up.
"Ah, up at last I see." someone noted.
I didn't feel like talking, though I could, so I resorted to waving as I opened my eyes slowly.
In front of me I saw the smug face of a man with white hair, brown eyes, and extremely small glasses. He looked surprised for some reason. As I looked around I noticed that I was in what looked like a degraded version of a medical room... still just as clean, though...
"Do you know who I am?" the smug man continued.
I still couldn't think much, thanks to my personalities going at it still. So I focused on logic, because I needed myself right now. Eventually the voices faded, and I could finally think straight. Though that guy had a faint hint of interest in his eyes.
"Let me guess, your Ozpin?" I hesitantly answered.
"Thant would be correct. Who might you be?" the man, now known as Ozpin answered.
"I'm Alex, I came to help you in this... war, as you put it." I replied.
"Yes yes, say... why do you wish to help me?" Ozpin asked.
"Do you want the short version, or my plethora of reasons?" I asked.
"..."
"Basically because I can. Mind filling me in?" I said in response.
"One last question, do you like chess?" Ozpin questioned.
Instantly, my eyes lite up as I answered, "Do I? I love chess! I'm good at it too..."
"Alright, ask away and I'll answer." Ozpin stated as he sent a text to Glynda to get a chess set.
After some few intense games (I managed to win one against him! That is quite an achievement in my book.), and both our thirsts for knowledge quenched. He lead me to a room and told me what's going to happen the next few weeks. And lets just say that I was going to have it in for me. Though I still had one question...
"Ozpin, before you go, can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Of course, Alex, go ahead." Ozpin responded.
"Um... how do I put this... Why is it that I feel so strong and why did my eyes hurt so much?" I questioned.
He seemed to expect this question, but only said, "You will find out tomorrow when we get everyone ready for this world."
Knowing that was all I was going to get, I bide Ozpin farewell and retired to a room on the right wing.
A/N: Yeah, I know, I know. It's short, but beginnings are hard to get both speed and importance in. On the bright side, I released this chapter a lot sooner than I thought I would. So enjoy. R&R please, I want to know what you guys think.
