Day 1
Lisa focus
Lisa gave an annoyed glare to the other children in her homework club. Alex, Alison and Becky were all gossiping about whatever they could imagine, Ralph was spouting complete nonsense as Miss Hoover practically did his homework for him. Normally Janey would be there as well but her parents had come in earlier and practically dragged her from the class. Regardless, it was better than trying to work at home especially with her families' continuous antics becoming distracting.
Lisa got back to completing her work until the door opened and Lunch Lady Doris quickly walked in before talking in hushed tones to Miss Hoover. Lisa couldn't make out any of the conversation but Lisa could see it involved a lot of eye rolls, shrugs and quiet talking. Finally, Doris left before Miss Hoover turned to the class. "Children, nobody is to leave the school without their parents. Your parents have been contacted to pick you up. If nobody comes to pick you up, you'll be staying here at school." Lisa furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at the apparent lockdown as the rest of the class bombarded Miss Hoover with questions as to what was happening and why they couldn't leave. Miss Hoover ignored all questions as she moved to the blinds and pulled them closed. Once the blinds were closed she turn back to the class, "put your homework away, do what you want until you're picked up."
The class was quickly abuzz with small cheering about no homework and discussion about what the reason for the change of plan. As the day continued eventually Alex, Alison and Becky were all picked up by their worried looking parents who would simply walk in find their child and quickly leave with them.
Within an hour, Homer entered the classroom and pulled Lisa from the room. As the two walked down the hallway Lisa asked, "What's happening, Dad?"
Homer shook his head, "No time to explain, just stay quiet and get to the car."
Lisa nodded, noting the worried look in her father's eyes as well as the amount of staff lining the hallways. "Okay."
The two reached the end of the hallway where Principal Skinner quickly opened the door, closing it immediately after Lisa and Homer exited the building.
Lisa looked across the car park and saw the family car but soon saw Janey from across the play area. "Janey," Lisa yelled, causing Janey to turn towards her, "do you kno-," Lisa was quickly cut off by her father covering her mouth and hurrying her to the car.
Homer quickly opened the door and practically pushed Lisa through before climbing in. "I told you to be quiet." Homer said as he started the engine.
"I saw Janey and just wonde-, "Lisa was cut off as Janey appeared at her window, snarling and clawing. Lisa looked at Janey and finally saw why Homer was so worried, Janey had a pale green tinge to her skin and flesh missing from her throat.
Homer quickly reversed and turned the car, knocking Janey to the floor before driving over her with an audible crack.
Lisa was silent for a few minutes as they drove before asking, "Dad… What's happening?"
Homer gave a glance before returning his attention to the road and simply answering, "Zombies."
"Zombies." Lisa repeated, incredulously.
"Zombies." Homer confirmed.
"Okay." Lisa finally said before returning to silence as the two drove home.
The two pulled up to the house and Homer quickly walked Lisa to the door before knocking and leaving as soon as Marge opened it so he could pick up Bart.
Bart focus
Bart and Milhouse stood by the doors of the mall as the shutters began to close and they looked at each other in confusion.
A voice quickly sounded from the loudspeaker, "The Springfield Mall is now in lockdown. For your own safety, we request you stay in the mall. We apologise for any inconvenience."
Milhouse looked at Bart, "What do we do now Bart?" he asked.
Bart shrugged, "We could go up to the roof and see what's going on." Bart suggested before heading up the escalator before Milhouse could reply.
Milhouse followed Bart up the escalator all while complaining. "We're not supposed to leave the mall Bart, the loudspeaker said so."
"We're not leaving the mall, we going to the roof," Bart replied as the pair walked off the elevator, "now help me find a vent or door to the roof."
Milhouse nodded meekly before wandering away to find a vent as Bart did the same. Minutes passed before Milhouse finally found a door reading 'Employees Only, Roof Access'. Milhouse grinned to himself before spotting Bart on the opposite side of the elevator and quickly waved him over.
Bart quickly walked over and high fived Milhouse before turning his attention to the locked door. Bart nodded to himself before taking a small hair grip out of his pocket and jimmying the lock with it.
Bart and Milhouse quickly headed through the door, up the stairs and to the roof where the pair looked over the roof.
"Aye caramba," Bart muttered at the horrifying scene before him. Outside the mall was chaos, with smoke and crashed cars throughout the city as well as scattered groups of people running, "what's happening?" Bart questioned.
Milhouse looked around before glancing down at the ground below them and noticed a group of people by the mall's entrance. "Bart, what are they doing?" he asked, indicating the people below them.
Bart looked at the group that Milhouse indicated and realized they were trying to smash the glass doors to find a way into the mall. "They're trying to get in." Bart replied, not taking his eyes off the group.
"What do we do?" Milhouse asked.
"I guess we stay up here." Bart replied, sitting down at the edge of the building.
Milhouse joined Bart in sitting and the two sat in silence as they looked at the chaos around the city and the group trying to break in.
The pair continued to sit in silence before Milhouse noticed a familiar pink car driving quickly to the entrance. Milhouse nudged Bart and asked, "Isn't that your families' car?"
The car quickly stopped near the entrance before Bart and Milhouse watched Homer step out. "Homer!" Bart yelled, waving his arms until Homer looked up and spotted him.
"Get down to the ground floor. Find a way out." Homer yelled.
Bart and Milhouse got up and quickly ran from the roof to the ground floor and tried to find a way out. Milhouse quickly pulled Bart to the cinema and both headed for the fire exit and exited the mall.
The pair quickly ran to Homer and stopped by his car where he was stood. Homer turned to look at Milhouse, "Milhouse, do your parents know you're here?" he asked. Milhouse nodded quickly. "Go back inside, wait for someone to pick you up." Milhouse looked ready to complain but quickly changed his mind as the group of people near the entrance began to clamber towards them.
Milhouse ran back towards the fire exit as Homer and Bart got in the car.
Bart looked at Homer as he began to start the engine. "Dad, what's going on?"
"Zombies." Homer replied.
Bart looked at the group which was near the entrance and finally noticed their tattered clothes, missing flesh and green tinge to their skin. "…Cool." Bart finally replied as they drove home.
Homer focus
Homer parked the car in the garage before both he and Bart exited the car. As Homer entered the living room, Lisa ran from down from upstairs. "Dad, Mom and I have filled up the bath and sink with water in case the water cuts out. Now we'll have fresh water for a while." Lisa said proudly.
"Good job," Homer replied with a smile, "now help me move as much as we can in front of the door to stop those things getting in."
Homer, Bart and Lisa quickly got to work, grabbing cabinets, bookcases and dressers from all over the house and moving them in front of all doors. Next, the group grabbed newspapers and pages from books before tapping them to the windows and closing the blinds.
Homer looked at the clock in front of the door. "5:05, everyone upstairs. Bart, Lisa grab Maggie from her room and bring her Bart's room, you're all sharing a room now."
Everyone nodded before heading upstairs and, over the course of the next few hours, dropping off to sleep.
