Chapter 2

This particular dream is neon-blue, nothing but swimming patterns and travelling clouds, accompanied by my thoughts, which make no sense, as usual. It's bright. Gradually the patterns coalesce into a single pattern, the lights into a single light. My eyes are open, gazing, glazed, at a white ceiling. I take my first conscious breath for what is probably a long time. The cold antiseptic smell stings slightly.

While my body laid motionless, my thoughts jostled restlessly around my head.

It was Team Dawn that did this to me. Team Dawn's rise to power is just a symptom of an ailment that has plagued human society since the beginning of time- the right to rule is not conferred on the most compassionate, but seized by the strongest.

And Pokemon are power. Non-trainers like myself can hardly amount to anything. As long as the world works like this, Team Dawn and their ilk will always tyrannise mankind. I suppose the world just isn't fair.

I suppose it was at this point that my life changed with a single thought.

Make it fair!

Make it so we don't have to suffer Team Dawn! Make it so Mankind isn't enslaved by the strong! Protect the innocent, destroy the wicked, and change the world!

I could feel the passion surging through me like an electrical current. Just like that, my aimless existence was given a purpose. I fight off the urge to leap out of the hospital bed and dash off to fight Team Dawn right then and there.

For all my powerlessness, I have the perfect weapon- the human brain. I can do anything. All I need now is somewhere to begin.

I laid back, staring blankly into the blue light above, still thinking.
