A/N: Wow it's been over a year since I updated and I'm truly sorry for that, but I'm back! And my writing has mature (I hope) along with me. I'm writing this while I'm on winter break and I just got the motivation to do this again! Well, now with chapter 1 of Poppypaw's Adventure!

Chapter 1

A fluffy ginger she-kit was sneaking around a reed, grass, and bramble-woven den. She twitched her whiskers in amusement when she spotted her target. A fluffy gray tomkit was at the enternce of the den washing his flank.

The tiny she-kit was downwind of him so he couldn't smell her. She stiffened, the tom stopped washing and his nose in the air. The ginger kit held breath, the tom twitched his whiskers and narrowed his eyes. The ginger she-kit shrank back.

Then she relaxed, the tom shrugged his shoulders and returned to washing. The kit crept forward. When she was close enough, she bunched her hindlegs together, then she lauched herself at the gray tom.

The tom let out a surprised meow as the she-kit landed on his back, but he recovered quickly and threw her off. The ginger kit landed on the ground, winded. The gray tomkit landed on top of her.

"Poppykit?" The gray tom meowed, nose in the air.

The ginger kit nodded, then remembered something. "Yes," she answered.

His blue eyes sparkled with amusement. "You can't sneak up on me!" he declared playfully.

Poppykit rolled her amber eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Okay, Graykit, let me up!"

Graykit let her up. "So, what now?" he asked her.

"Hmm," Poppy scanned the snow-covered camp. Their father, Fishleap, was organizing patrols in the center of the camp.

"Swansong, I want you to lead a hunting patrol. Take Hawkfeather, Molewhisker and Mistfeather." The ginger deputy ordered. The pure-white she-cat nodded, gathered the chosen cats and led the patrol out of camp. Featherfur and his apprentice, Honeyheart, were coming back from gathering herbs. Honeyheart earned her full medicine cat just last night at the half-moon gathering with the other medicine cats. Some of the warriors were sharing tongues in the clearing. Poppykit couldn't find any of the elders so she assumed they were in their den. A dark brown tabby tom padded over to the two siblings.

"Talonpaw!" Poppykit exclaimed and tackled him.

Talonpaw purred. "Get off me, you big lump!"

"Hey! You're bigger than me!" The ginger she-kit retorted, but get off anyway.

The apprentice flicked an ear. "Whatever. How have you two been?"

Graykit answered. "We've been good, but since you left we've had no cat to pla with."

Talonpaw blinked in confusion. "What about Echosplash' kits?"

Poppykit answered this time. "Echosplash won't allow us to play with them and Minnowkit hates us anyway."

Talonpaw sighed. "Minnowkit doesn't hate you. What about Mintkit?"

"Like Poppykit said before, Echosplash won't allow us to play together." Graykit replied, ears flat.

"And she's rude to us, Briarsong, and Fishleap and we have no idea why." Poppykit added, flattening her ears as well.

Talonpaw placed his paw on Poppykit's shoulder and his tail on Graykit's shoulder. "Hey, don't take it personally. Echosplash was never the nicest. She always snaps at cats."

"But she seems extra mean to us." Graykit meowed, eyes on the ground.

Before Talonpaw could reply his mentor called for him, Talonpaw called back. "Coming, Waveheart!" Then he turned back to kits. "We'll talk this later." He meowed then he touched Graykit's ear with his nose and licked Poppykit's cheek.

Poppykit purred as she watched him padded over to his mentor. Then she turned to see her brother looking at her. "What?!"

Graykit blinked. "You know what." His blue eyes filled with knowing.

Poppykit shivered, even though her brother was blind he acted as if he could see everything. "What are you meowing about, Graykit?"

The gray tom sighed. "I'm talking about you having feelings for Talonpaw." He meowed bluntly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the forest.

Poppykit bristled. "I do not have feelings for Talonpaw! We're just friends!"

Graykit rolled his eyes. "Okay, whatever you say, Poppykit. Whatever you say." Then he padded into the nursery.

I don't have feelings for Talonpaw... Right?

The sun has set and Poppykit was waiting outside of the nursery. She kept her amber gaze on the reed and bramble enterance to the camp. A lot of the warriors had returned from their patrols of the day and settled down eat their last meal of the day. Graykit had already eaten and was with their mother. Pounceleaf, a newly named warrior, padded over to Poppykit. "Hey, Poppykit! What are you doing?" He greeted.

"Hi, Pounceleaf! I'm just waiting for Talonpaw se we can eat together." Poppykit replied.

Pounceleaf twitched his whiskers. "Last time I saw him, he was training and I think Fishleap assigned him to moonhigh patrol. So he might be sleeping now."

The ginger she-kit flattened her eyes. "Oh..."

"You are more than welcome to eat with my friends and I!" Pounceleaf added quickly.

Poppykit blinked. "Okay!"

Pounceleaf led the ginger kit to his friends who wwere already eating and sharing tongues. Their conversation ceased when they saw the pair coming. "Everyone, this is Poppykit!"

"Poppykit... You're Briarsong's kit, aren't ya?" A gray tabby inquired. Poppykit nodded. "Well, nice to meet ya! I'm Breezefur!"

"Nice to meet you too!" She meowed politely.

The next cat to speak was a tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat. "Hi, Poppykit! What a lovely name! I'm Petalheart!"

Poppykit purred. "You have a pretty name too!"

Another gray tabby tom spoke up. "I'm Shellwhisker! Pleasure to meet you, Poppykit!"

"And to you, Shellwhisker." Poppykit replied. The difference between between Breezefur and Shellwhisker was Breezefur also had black-tipped ears and tail.

"Aren't you suppose to be in the nursery, kit." That voice belong to a solid gray she-cat.

Pounceleaf rolled his eyes. "That's Roseripple." He told Poppykit then addressed the snarky she-cat. "Poppykit is nearly an apprentice-"

"In a quarter moon!" Poppykit interrupted.

"-right. So, it's okay for her to sit with us."

Roseripple snorted. "But she's still an immature kit."

Breezefur sighed. "The only one being immature here is you."

Roseripple gasped, picked up her prey, and padded over to the older warriors. Poppykit watched her go with gulit. "Maybe I should go..."

"No!" Pounceleaf meowed a little too quickly. "I mean, no. Stay. Roseripple is just being...well, Roseripple."

"Just stay, Poppykit. Don't mind her." Petalheart added.

"if you're sure..."

"We're sure!" Shellwhisker replied happily.

The five cats ate and shared tongues until the moon was almost at its highest point. Petalheart yawned. "Someone's sleepy." Breezefur teased, but yawned right after.

Petalheart nodded. "I'm going to sleep. Anyone coming?"

"I am." Breezefur answered, getting to his paws.

"Me too." Shellwhisker chimed in.

The trio buried the bones of their prey and started for the warrior's den. Shellwhisker looked over his shoulder. "Are you coming, Pounceleaf?"

"Yes, I'll be there soon in a few heartbeats." Shellwhisker nodded and continued towards the warrior's den. "Mind if I walk with you to the nursey?"

Poppykit answered. "Not at all, Pounceleaf."

Then the pair padded across the clearing side-by-side, fur almost touching. "Well, I guess this is where we say our goodbyes." Pounceleaf remarked once they got to the enterance of the nursery.

"I guess so." Poppykit agreed. "Thanks for letting me eat with you all! It was so much fun!"

Pounceleaf purred. "No problem! It was great having you!"

Poppykit purred. "Let's do it again sometime."

Pounceleaf nodded. "Let's."

The ginger she-kit brushed pelts with him. "Good night, Pounceleaf."

The ginger warrior touched his nose to her ear. "Good night, Poppykit. Sweet dreams." Then he turned around and padded back to warrior's den. Poppykit crept into the nursery, praying to StarClan that she doesn't wake any cat. She breathed a sigh when she made it to her nest without waking anyone up. The ginger she-kit curled up next her sleeping brother. She let the sounds of her mother's breathing and her brother's snores sooth her to sleep.

A/N: And there! I'm sorry if it seems short, but I already wrote this chapter a while ago and since I write the chapters down on paper first I don't know the length until it's typed.

Anyways, I said I will update every two weeks like a year ago and never did. But since the new year is coming I decided to make this one of my goals for 2015. I want to update more and be a better writer. So as of now I will try to update every two weeks!

See you all in two weeks (I promise)!

Stay bright!
