There are no secrets that time does not reveal. - Jean Racine

He's looking at me —no, scratch that. He's scrutinizing me again.

He thinks I don't notice, but I do. I always have.

The way he stares at me like I'm a fixed point. The way he sometimes frown at me, as if I'm some algebra equation that he couldn't understand. The way he and I would always lock eyes, sometimes for a nanosecond or a few minutes. I've noticed it all, and his actions are starting to scare me.

I feel like he knows what my secret is. It's like everytime he look at me, he magically knows more and more about me. And I can't have that.

"So here's a joke, listen up everyone!" Grant says enthusiastically from the other end of the table, and everyone scoots a little bit closer to his direction. Everyone but Zachary Goode because he's still busy scrutinizing me.

"Okay, here we go," Grant starts, "two men walks into a bar, but the third one is a duck!" Then just like that, he's in hysterics, and so is Jonas, Liz and Bex.

I throw my head back and start laughing along too, even though I don't even get the joke. Why? Because it's not like they care if I understand the joke or not, all they want to see is my reaction, my laughter.

Besides in doing so, Zach will think I'm normal, and maybe, just maybe, he'll finally stop scrutinizing my existence.

But really, in a town like Roseville where even the impossibles can happen, I should know better.

Author's Note:

So yeah, here is chapter two. I know it's not the most interesting chapter ever, but it's only chapter two.
