Iris POV
It was a long journey from Audry's place. Her parents refused to drive us, or more they couldn't get off work long enough to do so. Regardless, we weren't left much of a choice. I'm almost sad we had to leave, but then again meister and weapon pairs weren't so common in our old town. And oh my, we sure got a lot of stares when we would train. But after days of walking and the great fun of public transportation, we finally reached the place we had been waiting for. "So this is Death City?" I whispered to myself in shock. There were countless buildings and odd structures that put the surrounding sky to shame. This was nothing like where we'd come from. For some reason the sun seems oddly demonic, but aside from that, a nice place. I glanced over at Audry, she looked worried as if something were horribly wrong. "Are you alright?" She looked up at me quickly, but as she opened her mouth to answer, a voice called out,
"Hahahaha! You thought you could fool us! But not I, Black Star the ultimate assassin!" It was this small boy with blue spiked hair. He had some sort of tattoo of a star on his arm. "I got you now Kishin!" He yelled as he jumped on me knocking me over.
"Ow!" I yelped in pain the moment I heard a distinctly female voice.
"Black Star!"... It wasn't a nice sounding voice, it was actually pretty high pitched and shrill. She ran over and pulled the boy off of me. "Sorry about him!" she panted, struggling to pull him away. They should really keep him on a leash.
"Need some help?" It was another boy, only this one with white spiky hair and a pair of severely lazy looking eyes. I'm not sure if it was his; great timing, nice face, or that his voice was the first to not be screaming. I liked this one.
"Uh.. Sure." I said stuttering and grabbed his hand. My face shaded a light red, I could feel it. He was cute. 'Okay, pull yourself together Iris' I told myself. The boy smiled at me revealing his pointy teeth, making my face grow darker.' That's it I'm done for.'
"Sorry about Black Star, he's still not over the fact that he wasn't the one who defeated the Kishin. You look a bit confused, oh, I'm Soul, you must be the new kids?"
"Y-Yeah," I stuttered nervously, "I'm Iris, and that's Audry." I looked over and saw she was with the little punk that had tackled me.
"Do you want me to help you and your friend around town?" He said looking generally concerned. My heart raced. "You know, to make up for my pal over there glomping you?" He hissed in the least frightening way I've ever seen.
"N-No it's fine,"
"Are you sure? Black Star hit you pretty hard, and your face is getting flushed... you may need to see a doctor or-"
"N-No! It's okay!" I said cutting him off before he could finish. "We really have to go now unpacking and stuff to do, bye Soul! Nice meeting you!" I yelled back grabbing Audry and running away, my heart still pounding in my throat.
"What was that for?"
"I'm not letting it happen again, not after last time."
"What do you mean?" She said once again confused. I gave her a stern look and in sudden realization her eyes widened; she nodded and put her head down. It was silent the rest of the way home.
