Chapter 2: The Second Exam

Naruto stood before the gate with Sasuke and Sakura.

"Let the second exam begin." Anko shouted and all the gates open.

"Wait… before we go in… give me the scroll." Naruto stated.

"What?" Sakura screeched. She received a punch to the head.

"I want the scroll. If you don't I'll just kill one of you and get us disqualified." Naruto stated calmly. Sakura paled as did Sasuke. Sasuke handed Naruto the scroll and Naruto pocket it. Before they could say anything, Naruto vanished. Leaving Sasuke and Sakura in shock at Naruto's display of speed.

Naruto sped through the trees looking for Kabuto. He ran into several rain ninja's in the middle of combat.

"More weaklings… they give themselves away far too easily." Naruto mutters and he pulls out some shiruken's.

The Rain ninja's never knew what hit them as all of them received a shiruken to the head. Naruto search their pouches and pulled out two earth scrolls.

"Well it helps." Naruto replies as he pockets it. He sense Gaara's team near by and moved to watch the fight. Naruto landed on the tree in silence. Gaara used his sand to deflect all the senbon needles that the rain shinobi launch. Naruto watch in boredom as Gaara killed all three Rain ninja's.

"Gaara huh… you were the closest thing I've ever had to a real brother." Naruto replies as he vanished.

Gaara turn around and looked at the branch where Naruto was standing moments ago.

"Gaara… what's the matter?" Temari asked.

"Nothing…" Gaara replied as he walked with his siblings.

Naruto sped through the trees once again and attack grass team. They quickly fell before him. He picks up a scroll and revealed it to be a Heaven Scroll.

"Sigh… I can't help but wonder if I'm going to end up killing everyone in the forest." Naruto replied with a sigh.

He turns around and spots a team from Konoha watching him.

"You three need to work on your stealth skills." Naruto replied as he turns around to see a senior genin team hiding in the bushes.

"Our stealth skills may suck… but at least we got you outnumbered." The older boy scowled at Naruto.

"Numbers don't mean a thing in battle." Naruto vanished only to knock the leader out senseless. The other two backed away from Naruto. His speed seemed so unreal.

One of the teammates pulled out a scroll. It was a heaven scroll.

"Spare us, and you can have our scroll…"

"I could just easily kill you three then take your scroll." Naruto stated as he caused the three to shiver in fear. Naruto sigh and took the scroll before he leap in the trees.

Naruto scan the area for Kabuto's chakra and followed it. It wasn't hard to forget his chakra, he felt it many times in battle so it was like a natural taste for him. Naruto stop above a clearing. Kabuto was talking to his teammates.

"What happen to the sound genin team? Orochimaru-sama wasn't please that they didn't appear for the exam." Kabuto demanded.

"How should I know… they entered the building I know that… but they didn't appear anywhere near the first exam." The tall one replied.

Kabuto said nothing but looked suddenly startled.

"Naruto-kun… were you eavesdropping?" Kabuto called out as his teammates looked shock.

"It took you that long to detect me." Naruto replied as he landed in front of the team.

"Naruto-kun… what do you want?" Kabuto asked with a sly smile that only fit for him.

"You're heads." Naruto stated calmly. Kabuto narrowed his eyes. This boy was strange. So strange, that Naruto was speaking over the matter as if they were old friends drinking together.

"You can't beat us Naruto-kun…" Kabuto stated.

"That's where you're sadly mistaken. I don't like spies… and your death has long been coming." Naruto stated.

"Cocky brat."

Naruto vanished only for Kabuto to realize he was in front of him.

"Rasengan!" Naruto cried out as he hit Kabuto. Kabuto tried to perform his medical ninjutsu but Naruto was already a step ahead of him. He brought out his kunai and slashes Kabuto's forearm.

'What's this jutsu…! He also stopped me from using my medical ninjutsu.'

Kabuto slam against the tree his gut showing signs of a second degree burn. Naruto hands were in a fist and he pointed them at Kabuto's teammates who were charging at him.

Two swords of chakra appeared and they cut straight through the teammates; killing them instantly.

Kabuto struggled to walk forward but fell face down.

"The Rasengan does more internal damage than outer damage. Kabuto… I knew you are a spy. I've known for a long time. Do you honestly think you could be so clever to fool everyone?" Naruto asked.

"Your attack power, your speed… you high level of ninjutsu uses… you're ANBU!"

"Who knows…" Naruto answered.

"Are you under cover? Watching Sasuke-kun from the distance to make sure he doesn't leave the village?" Kabuto demanded.

"You don't need to know." Naruto replied as he cut Kabuto's head off.

Naruto decided it would be best to return to his teammates. He leaps through the trees. When he was half-way… he sense Orochimaru's chakra. He grin his teeth and shot forward faster than anyone could see.

Sasuke screamed as Orochimaru bit him on the neck. Orochimaru neck returns to its normal size and he grin happily.

"Tell Sasuke-kun… he will come to me… in search for power…" Orochimaru replied grinning.

Orochimaru's eyes open wide before he duck and a giant shiruken nearly took off his head.

Sakura and Orochimaru turn to the person who arrived who would appear to be Naruto.

"Orochimaru… The Legendary Snake Sannin and S-Class criminal from Konoha… you've got a lot of nerve coming back to the village." Naruto stated. Orochimaru narrowed his eyes at the amount of information Naruto replied. This would caused problems for him.

"I don't need a weak Genin to tell me things I already know."

Orochimaru's eyes open wide when Naruto vanished. It took him a moment to realize where Naruto was an he immediately jump back.

"A weak genin huh… could a weak genin have gotten so close to get a kill shot off a Sannin just now. Underestimating your opponent is a terrible thing to do." Naruto replied.

"I see… you're under cover as a Genin… no doubt the Sandiame would try to keep an extra pair of eyes on the last remaining Uchiha."

'What… Naruto is an undercover ninja? Pretending to be a Genin? Then that means he's a…!'

"So you're ANBU member. Now I really shouldn't be underestimating you." Orochimaru stated as his chakra jump to Jounin level.

"Is that really smart?" Naruto asked as the Legendary Snake traitor looked puzzled.

"Increasing your chakra higher than what a Chuunin should have… ANBU and Jounin's will be all over the area in moments." Naruto pointed out. Orochimaru eyes open wide at the truth in Naruto's eyes. Naruto vanished and reappeared in front of Orochimaru. The two soon engaged in a heavy taijutsu match. Orochimaru met blow for blow, but Naruto was equaling him in every blow. Naruto could read his attacks well and counter attack just at the right moment.

Orochimaru started growing desperate. He threw a kick at the blond but Naruto evaded it and nearly implied his legs with some shirukens.

The timing of the attack was so perfect, Orochimaru failed to realize the kick to his face.

'He got me… his even more skilled that Kakashi! In fact… his fighting like…Jiraiya! Not to mention he is like an ANBU… curse this brat… I know… how to escape….'

Orochimaru charged at Sakura with the kusanagi out of his mouth. Just as he was about to peirce the girl, Naruto grabbed and vanished before Orochimaru could kill Sakura. Orochimaru landed on the lower tree branch and starting sinking.

"You were fun to fight, Naruto-kun… but you've underestimated me. I hope you have fun… while it remains…" Orochimaru replied as he vanished.

"Naruto… thank you… but why…" Sakura replied.

"I was order… by the Sandaime Hokage… to keep a close eye on Sasuke. Did you really think… after losing his clan… the Sandaime would leave Sasuke alone? I join the academy shortly after the Uchiha's were killed off… in order to keep an eye on him. I cannot tell you any more… and you weren't suppose to know. Let's go to the tower… I got more than enough scrolls to get us in." Naruto stated. He pick Sasuke up and place him on his shoulder. He grabbed Sakura around the waist and she started punching him.

"What?" Naruto asked.

"Don't you…"

"I'm carrying you because you can't handle my speed. You would lose track of me in a second. And I'm not going to slow down for anyone. This way is faster. Besides, we will be faster if I carry you both."

"You can't possibly carry us both…" Sakura replied.

"You've got a lot to learn Sakura." Naruto replied as he took off. Sakura was unable to believe how fast Naruto was traveling. Sakura realized they were only traveling for thirty seconds before they enter the tower. Naruto threw a heaven and earth scroll on the ground and Iruka appeared.

"Iruka-sensei… call the medics!" Naruto shouted as Sasuke looked very bad. "Also… get me Kakashi and the Sandaime Hokage." Naruto shouted.

"Right away…" Iruka replied as he left.

'Damn you Orochimaru… if Sakura blabs her mouth… Kakashi-sensei and the Sandaime Hokage are going to think something is strange. They may even think I'm an imposter… this interferes in my plans a bit. However… to prepare for the war… I may have to move faster than I wanted. Ero-Sennin is also near by. This will work out more perfectly than I thought…'

The medics arrived with Kakashi and the Sandaime in tow.

"Seal off his chakra. Keep his fever down." Naruto replied as his hand started glowing green on Sasuke's forehead.

"Naruto… you wish to speak with us…?" The Sandaime replied.

"Yes… in private… if that's ok…" Naruto asked.

The Sandaime eyed Naruto and realizing he wasn't staring at the eyes of a child… no… this was a warrior who has been through hell.

"Very well…" The Sandaime replied as Naruto walked towards an empty room. Naruto closed the door and turn to face the two men.

"What do you want to talk about?" The Sandaime asked.

"You're cautious… I don't blame you…" Naruto stated.

"What do you mean?"

"Both of your bodies are tense. Also… you look more ready for a fight then to talk. However, I know you too well… you will talk to avoid a conflict. Please remove the ANBU you have hidden in the room." Naruto stated. The Sandaime and Kakashi looked alarm.

"Who are you?" The Sandaime asked.

"I want what I'm going to say to remain in silence. Remove the ANBU and I will tell you…" Naruto repeated. The Sandaime narrowed his eyes. He could give the signal and the ANBU would destroy him. He seemed… trustworthy… at least; for now.

The Sandaime signal the men to leave and they did.

"Alright, I can tell you both now… no doubt my sudden change in clothing and my behavior has caught your attention. So I'll tell you who I am. I'm Senkou… also known as Uzumaki Naruto… the Hero of Konoha…" Naruto replied.

"What game you're playing?" The Sandaime demanded as he narrowed his eyes. Kakashi reached for his weapon pouch and held on a kunai.

"Exactly as I said. I'm Uzumaki Naruto… though… I should have said… I'm not the Naruto from this timeline or dimension. I merged with young Naruto and took over his soul and body. He is now apart of me but in deep slumber in the mind. I came back… to stop the Fourth Great Shinobi War from happening."

"The Fourth Great Shinobi War! Are you serious!" Kakashi asked.

"Dead serious. Four years from now, the war will break out. I was the strongest and fastest shinobi of the alliance and the Rokudaime Hokage of Konoha."

"The Rokudaime Hokage? What about the Godaime Hokage… or the Sandaime…" Kakashi asked.

"The Sandaime Hokage will die in a month's time… from Orochimaru. Ero-Sennin and I go and collect baa-chan so she could be the Godaime Hokage… she was in charge of the village for four years before a very powerful shinobi attack the village leaving her in a coma. Danzo tried to achieve power and nearly succeed too if it weren't for the help we got from our allies from Kirigakure. Kakashi took over as acting Hokage but the village elected me to be the Hokage at the age of 16."

"Kirigakure becomes our allies?" The Sandaime Hokage asked in shock.

"It will take to long to explain everything. I can do that after the preliminaries. Also, get Kakashi-sensei's old ANBU unit. If I remember correct, Code Name's Neko, Kage, Mori were them correct?"

"Yes… though there are others…" Kakashi stated.

"I rather have those three trusted. Bring them to the hot springs after the preliminaries. I will explain everything there. Also, I've dealt with a spy… his name is Kabuto… he works for Orochimaru. He's dead… along with his teammates. I couldn't risk letting them go back to Orochimaru."

"Understood… anything else you want to say…"

"Actually yes… during my fight with Orochimaru… he said I'm an ANBU member. He believes the Sandaime sent me to keep a close eye on Sasuke… I had to go along with it. How do you propose we deal with that…? Sakura heard him…and she has a big mouth…" Naruto stated. The Sandaime looked at Naruto closely.

"For now; demanding on the situation. You will be a ANBU member under the code name Senkou… you're mission… protect Uchiha Sasuke…" The Sandaime stated. Naruto bowed and turn to leave.

"One thing… who is ero-sennin and baa-chan?" The Sandaime called.

"Oh… I called them by their nicknames I gave them… members of the legendary Sannin… Jiraiya and Tsunade…"

'I thought so…'

Naruto left leaving Kakashi with the Sandaime.

"Do you think what he said is true…?"

"Possibly. However, keep a close eye on him… we don't know the full story yet…" The third stated.

"And the three he asked for…?"

"He knew the there code names. So retrieve them."

"Understood…" Kakashi stated as he vanished.

'Things are getting intense.'

ANBU Headquarters

"You cannot enter… oh… Kakashi-sempai." The ANBU stated as he saluted his former senior.

"Hello… I'm looking for some of my former subordinates." Kakashi stated.

"Who Kakashi-sempai…?"

"Neko…Kage…and Mori…"

"Let me see… Neko and Mori are with their team at the old training ground. Kage is here turning in…"

"Thank you…"

"Good day, Kakashi-sempai."

Kakashi walked through the male's locker room and found Kage at his locker.

"Yo…" Kakashi replied as he lean against the lockers.

"Kakashi-sempai… what do I owe the honor?" Kage asked in surprised.

"You have been summon by the Sandaime Hokage… for now… appear as a hidden guard during the Chuunin Exams preliminaries. The real mission will begin after the preliminaries are over…" Kakashi stated.

"Acknowledge. Accept mission…" Kage stated placing his mask back on.

Kakashi vanished and reappeared on top of roof tops jumping between them.

He landed in the hidden training ground where he trained and practice with his old team. As expected, they were there training.

"Kakashi-sempai…"

"Mori…Neko… you have been summon by the Sandaime Hokage for a special mission. You are to report immediately to him."

"We are ready any time Kakashi-sempai…"

"Not the team Kuma. Just those two… they are needed immediately. They are to appear as guards for the door during the Chuunin Exam Preliminary round. The real mission will begin after it's over."

"What's the real mission, Kakashi-sempai…"

"You will brief on the mission after the Preliminaries." Kakashi stated.

"Understood… Neko… accepts mission."

"Mori accepts mission."

The three vanished and reappeared by the forest of death.

Naruto rested on the railing looking out in the sky. Only at twenty percent fighting strength… and he stood evenly toed with Orochimaru fighting at low Jounin level… he needed to step up his training. He would be fine… as long as he didn't have to face Gaara… he would be able to proceed to the finals of the Chuunin Exams.

Naruto stood with his team along with five other teams that manage to pass. Naruto looked bored and waited for the matches to begin.

"Alright… first match… Haruno Sakura and Yamanaka Ino…" Hayate called.

Naruto approached Sakura and whispered something in her ear. He walked away making Sakura look very pale.

"Alright begin…" Hayate called when everyone seemed ready.

Sakura reach in her pouch and pulled out two kunai's. Ino took a stance. Sakura plunge one of the kunai's into the ground and walked forward a bit. She plunge the other one in the ground. Sakura took off her shoes and stood barefooted. She went into position and place her left foot on the blade.

"What are you doing Sakura?" Ino called out.

"Well… I thought since we could at each other all day trying to show who is better I thought we could do a Sudden Death Fight." Sakura stated.

"What does that mean?" Ino replied looking nervous.

"The rules to this fight are simple. Shoes must be off… one foot must be on the kunai and it must never leave it… or you loose. The first person who removes their foot or kneels on the ground loses. We can only use or fist and try to knock the other person off. We don't have to do this… if you're too scared." Sakura taunted. Ino grew a tic mark on her face.

"I accept." Ino replied as she took off her shoes and went and took her place in front of Sakura. Seconds later, both were throwing punches at each other.

Everyone watch as the two young girls beat each others face up. For Naruto, it was very boring and he was getting annoyed.

Sakura was panting heavily and her face was swollen… she was going to pass out soon. Ino was in no better shape. Her face was bleeding and swollen. She was panting barely able to keep one eye open. Both gave one last punch and collapse on the ground.

"The match is a draw…" Hayate called out. Kakashi and Asuma went and got their respectable students before handing them to the medics.

"Second match is… Uchiha Sasuke vs. Akimichi Choji…" Choji gulped and shouted "I quit." Naruto sighs and was hoping to see a good fight.

"Ok… third match… Rock Lee vs. … Uzumaki Naruto."

A/N - It was quick but i hope you all enjoyed it. Rock Lee will be facing Uzumaki Naruto... what will be the outcome?
