Midnight Moon
Suddenly I heard a voice,"What and who are you?" Was it, the voice, the wolf? It couldn't be, but just to be safe I answered.
"Human and my name is Mare Beth." I gave it my nickname, my full name was Mary Elizabeth. I was creeped out by the smile that she gave. Meanwhile the voice came back, "Yes it is me, the wolf, my name is Midnight Moon. And what exactly are you doing out in the forest?" Did she have to ask that question, I thought. I had to answer though so I did. "I was running away. I just didn't belong."
"Why didn't you?" she asked very curious. "You look normal."
I was shocked. How could this wolf understand me, let alone speak English? "You are a very curious creature, you know that?"
She nodded."Yes know will you or won't you explain?"
I looked down, "Since we're out here in the middle of nowhere, sure." She lied down and gave me a nod that indicated 'continue' and as I did it was like talking to a friend. "I didn't belong because I was an animal lover. I had more animals than anyone else in town. Then this boy-"
"BECAUSE OF A BOY!" She stood on all fours as she said it. "Let me get this straight you ran away because of a boy?"
"Yes," I looked down again. I hated myself for running instead of facing the boy. Now, out here in the middle of nowhere, I had appsolutly no feelings for him.
"Are you okay?" Midnight got me out of my thoughts of him. I smiled, she reminded me of my mom. Both always there and worried about me. "You must be freezing out here, let's get you into the den." Yep they were exactly same, I wouldn't be shocked if it were her under the fur. I followed her with the other wolves.
