Hello fellow readers I will be quite busy updated both this story and another I've been working on. The updates might be a chapter each week. It all depends on how imaginative I am.

I'll accept any questions and ideas to include in the story.

I'll tell my opinion in future chapters.

Just like I'm about to now.

Sakura-Fairy-Tail

I vote Gaara for Sakura. Sasuke is an ass.

Chapter 2: How did it end up like this?

I woke up the following day feeling painfully sore. The cold temperature in the room helped little in making me feel better.

Looking for some much needed warmth I reached over to the other side of the bed expecting a warm body beside me. All my hand touched was cold silk fabric. I stopped searching. All my hope and anticipation faded. I retracted my hand dejected.

'He left.'

I had slept peacefully thinking he'd be here next to me.

My heart crumbled, after so much negligence little remained. So similar to a leaf during winter, just a matter of time before it give in and let go of everything.

I laid on my bed crestfallen. My eyes watered, yet no tears were shed, I had none left in me. My whole body felt numb. I wanted to cry, scream, and just send everything straight to the pits of hell.

'It always ends like this'

I sat up defeated. The silk sheets pooled around my bare hips exposing my naked body. Goosebumps prickled my skin as cold air brushed past me.

With shaky legs I made my way to the bathroom. I held on to anything I possibly could to keep myself up straight. I flinched at every hasty step I took. Pain invaded my lower region but didn't stop me from arriving there as fast as my legs could carry me.

The bathroom was nothing less than luxurious. Dark wood flooring greeted my bare feet as I stepped foot inside. My hands pressed against the black colored vanity. White marble coated the top where two clear glass sinks were set a perfect distance apart.

I could see my reflection through two framed glass mirrors neatly placed on the navy blue colored wall, I frowned at the lovemarks coating my collarbone and neck. My skin looked paler than usual, while my petal pink hair looked the same as always, pink.

With slow calculated steps I reached the shower. A heavy glass door was moved aside as I carefully took my last few steps inside. I turned the faucet flinching as cold water made contact with my bare skin.

My tense muscles loosened when cold water was replaced with hotter liquid. My vision became slightly cloudy as waves of steam began to flow upwards. I scrubbed my body feeling disgusted with myself.

'He had just used me for his own reasons, not out of love.'

I rested my head against the shower wall.

'I'm such a fool.'

My clenched fist collided with the wall ridding myself of some pent up anger and frustration. Pain sparked throughout my hand as it limply fell beside my waist. I ignored the pain and opted for getting out.

I covered myself in a soft white towel then used a second one to wrap my hair inside. I walked out feeling thankful the steam and hot water had alleviated some of the soreness.

The clock on the bedside table read 5:00 a.m.

I sighed, Lady Tsunade expected me at work today.

I put on all the necessary undergarments and proceeded to pick out an outfit. I slipped on tight fitting black pants, a cream turtleneck knit Sweater, and finally brown first-sass heels.

A sad smile crossed my face as I saw all the clothes from last night laying on the floor, I had been so desperate.

One by one I picked them up and tossed them in the laundry basket near my closet. I'd clean everything once I got home.

I grabbed my bag and made my way downstairs. I felt relieved when I walked out the door. The house felt so empty it made me uneasy just at how gloomy it all seemed. I had made a promise to myself to make it look lively again.

The sun hadn't been out for weeks. Grey and white clouds spread out across the sky, the temperature was the same as always, cold. I didn't bother getting in my car the walk to the hospital was only 10 minutes away. I enjoyed being outside whenever the chance presented itself.

Only a couple fellow pedestrians walked the city streets, unlike me they all wore oversized jackets and scarfs that concealed the bottom half of their faces.

I raised my pale hand feeling the icy wind as it blew past me. I wondered why the cold didn't seem to bother me.

'Am I some kind of super human? Cold blooded maybe? Perhaps a descendant from some pink haired snowman?'

I quietly chuckled to myself, a smile spread across my face. I looked over at people walking past me greeting them with a smile and a wholehearted 'good morning.' They all happily returned the gestures, unknowingly brightening my mood.

This is what made Konoha one of the more preferable cities to live in. People in the city here are generally friendlier, making them easy to talk to and approachable.

I finished greeting an elderly couple as I rounded a corner, the words Konoha Hospital were proudly spread across the front of a large building, bold red letters were undeniably hard to miss in contrast to the buildings cream colored walls.

I entered the building looking forward to seeing a familiar face, sudden shouts and panicked nurses running across the halls caught my attention. My eyes narrowed as a stretcher was rolled in, everyone began crowding around it.

I walked towards them halting them in their hurried foot steps. I handed my bag to one of the nurses, her shaking hands and panicked expression told me she was relatively new to the job.

"Sakura-sama?!" Her face looked awestruck.

"Hold this for me. You can go I'll take care of this. Where is Tsunade -sama?"

"She's currently in her office working on some urgent paperwork."

"Alright, thats all I needed to know, thank you."

I watched her bow and hurriedly stumble off tripping on her own two feet. My attention then returned to the injured patient currently in my care. I assessed the situation noticing a gun wound on his lower abdomen.

His red hair, limp pale hands, and damaged clothing were all covered in blood.

I rolled up my sleeves and pulled my hair up into a ponytail. It was about time I got serious, I zoned out any troubling thoughts turning into 'medic mode.'

"Get him to the ER he needs immediate attention, once you're there prepare him for surgery I need to get the bullet out. You-" I motioned my index finger towards one of the nurses "Put pressure on the wound he's losing too much blood."

I barked orders missing no detail even after many weeks away from the hospital it all came back to me. The hallway had gotten awfully quiet it seemed some fellow hospital workers noticed my unexpected arrival.

"Sakura-sama your back!"

The hospital workers crowding the stretcher looked relieved when they noticed who I was. I gave them all a quick smile fully aware this was not time for idle chit-chat.

"Yes, now hurry i'll finish changing and be there as fast I can."

I walked away hearing nurses and hospital staff openly praising me. The occasional 'That's our Sakura-sama' and 'She's so cool' were heard as I changed and made my way to the emergency room fully ready for surgery.

Upon entering I noticed one of my best friends, Hinata, dressed in medical ware standing silently by my patient. I inclined my head towards her acknowledging her presence, she returned the gesture setting a tray full of medical tools on a near by table.

Taking a deep breath I embarked in five long hours of surgery.

~0~

I currently sat in one of the hospital's cafeteria tables. Staff and nurses sat nearby eating homemade food, while others opted for cafeteria lunches. Voices filled the big room as many talked about their job and the day's most mentionable events.

A hot cofee mug was held between my hands. I slowly brought it up to my lips taking a careful sip. Surgery had been a success, after all those long hours I was undoubtedly tired.

It'd be just a matter of time before I became reaccustomed to these changes. Taking part in surgery and long work shifts was something I had been accustomed to.

I looked up at the cafeterias clock it read 12:00, I stood up heading to check up on how my recent patient was doing. My white coat gently flowed behind me as I continued to walk forward. I adjusted the stethoscope around my neck when I finally arrived.

Two stern knocks alerted the inhabitants of my arrival. When I entered the room the sight surprised me. Colorful bouquets of flowers scattered the room, inflated balloons rested up against the ceiling as their strings cascaded down only inches above the floor.

A blonde girl sat next to the bed where she quietly sobbed, her hands gripped the thin white sheets but was careful not to accidentally grip the person who currently occupied the bed. She laid her head besides him murmuring incoherent sentences. A younger man stood besides her. His hands held her shoulders in a comforting manner.

The sight made my heart swell, they deeply cared for each other. My husband's image suddenly flashed across my mind, I shook my head ridding myself of such thoughts.

They looked up at me as I made my way towards the bed to grab a chart. I revised everything seeing nothing wrong with his current state. Rest and sleep were now the main components in helping him recover.

"Are you the doctor?" Her voice was hoarse most likely caused by her crying.

"Yes, I am." I set the chart down giving them my whole undivided attention.

"Could you tell me how he's doing?" Both her and the person beside her looked concerned. They've probably been waiting for answers all this time.

"Aside from the major blood loss, he seems to be out of danger's way."

They smiled clearly relieved with the good news they had just received. My eyes shifted to the sleeping patient wondering how he made it here.

"How was he injured?"

They both looked up at me surprised. A few tears brimmed the blondes eyes.

"It was my fault, I was somewhere I shouldn't have been and he...he protected me."

"Temari calm down, it's gonna be alright Gaara's fine." He squeezed her shoulders and spoke optimistically.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked." I bowed my head apologetically, she shook her head reassuring me it was alright. Instead she stood up and walked towards me. She gently grasped my hands surprising me.

"As the person who saved my little brothers life I thank you. What is your name?"

My eyes softened, it was my job she had no reason to thank me.

"It's Sakura."

She took a couple steps backwards and wiped a few stray tears from her face. Her hand motioned to the man beside her.

"This is my younger brother Kankuro."

He lifted his hand in a wordless greeting. I imitated his motion with a nod.

"And this is Gaara our youngest brother."

Her eyes traveled to the motionless form laying on the bed. He already seemed dead.

Seeing them like this reminded me of myself, even if it was for different reasons the sense of helplessness and sadness was still the same.

We we're both scared of losing something precious.

"You two shouldn't worry I'll personally see to his health and steady recovery. I'll make sure he's alright."

"Thank you Sakura, I am truly grateful."

With teary eyes and a huge smile she bowed towards me.

After talking with my drunken mentor, Tsunade, I had excused myself. Throughout the day I attended patient after patient. Energy drinks and coffee kept me upbeat and ready for anything else that needed my immediate attention.

By the end of my shift I was torn. The only thing I could think about was getting back the comfort of my home which was the Uchiha district.

I hadn't realized the weather outside had so little intention in letting me get there easily.

The color white was all I could see as I walked towards my home. I regretted not bringing a coat. My arms wrapped themselves around my tiny frame trying to keep the tiniest bit of warmth with me.

The streets were empty, my hopes of getting a cab diminished. The dark sky told me It was already too late to call a friend.

My arms and legs were becoming numb. My eyes blinked rapidly as cold wind harshly passed by me. Snow crystals made their way into my hair further plummeting my hopes of warmth.

My body had felt frozen when I made it to the Uchiha district. My home soon came into view so did my husband's dark form. His car was parked beside him and it seemed he wasn't alone.

He had someone pushed against the side of his car. Long dark locks of hair swayed in the direction of the wind confirming all my suspicions, it was a woman.

I held a hand against my mouth eyes wide with shock. I trembled both from the cold and betrayal. Tears flowed down my face showing no signs of stopping.

'No...he couldn't have.'

Then they kissed right in front of me.

I bit my lip. My hands formed fists.

Everything I was afraid of had finally been confirmed.

'He didn't love me.'

I closed my eyes I didn't want to see him...them. I turned around and ran. I didn't know where I was going. My breaths became heavier after each step I took. My movements became sluggish. I could hardly feel my feet.

My heart beated rapidly. My mouth tried forming words. I couldn't speak.

Everything around me moved. I stood still my hands gripped the sides of my head.

My mind soon turned blank as I collapsed on the snow.

The haunting scene still engraved in the mind.

'Why...?'
