They sat in silence until Harry asked.
"So how did you guys meet? If your in two different houses?"
"well, that's quite a long story but i think we have enough time." said Daphne
"We will have to start from the beginning so you guys can get the full story." said Jackson
"What the beginning of time ?" asked Ron
"No, when i was born." said Jackson laughing
"OK, lets here it." said Draco and Harry together
"Alright, well it began with my mum, she lived on a costal town. And ran a fancy tavern, that me Da would visit frequently and well one thing led to another out pops ole Jackson."
All of them sat in silence grinning to themselves except for Daphne who smiled and continued. She started to tell the story...
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It was a terrible night, the storm was roaring up the coast. Daphne was but a child, and she saw running for her life trying to make it home before the storm broke. She glanced back and almost cried. The storm was almost upon her. When suddenly she was grabbed and pulled into a building. She looked up and there was a young man, not much older than her, but already he had the look of a man. His face was scarred, and he had tattoos covering his bare chest and back. One of a skull with a dagger in its mouth on his chest. He had a rose in a skeletal hand on his right bicep with the vines encircling the rest of his arm, all the way down to his forearm. On his left arm there was a tattoo of a black flag that said "A short life but a merry one"
"Bad night tah get caught out in little missy." The boy said looking around.
"Who are you, I know everyone in town?" She said pulling away from him nervously.
A flash of lightening forked the sky and she saw in his black eyes, a tinge of red, and a cutlass stuck into his belt.
"Are you a pirate?" she asked blinking "Albeit a bit behind the times there." She said gesturing to the blade.
"The boy laughed and pulled it out. "This be my wand." He said lightening a fire in the empty stone building.
"Ok, so what are you doing here."
"I be a scout for my crew, who are at the moment raiding ya Mayor's manor."
"That's terrible!" she said dashing towards the door" The boy shot up and grabbed her. "Nah, he be the reason for me at least, that I had to turn to piracy. That man killed me mum, and stole our house and money because she spurned him. And I mean to pay back that debt." He said his eyes flashing again, but she wasn't sure if it was the lightening or his rage.
"Suppose I don't believe you, how can you prove it?" she asked.
He laughed and nodded. "Ya want proof, fine then follow me." He said stepping out into the storm. The red sash he used for a belt billowed in the wind, and his hair flew wildly. She paused for a moment and followed, her dress catching the wind almost blowing her over, she swore and looked at her new.. friend and indicated her dress. He roared with laughter and held out his sword, and her dress shrunk into a suitable skirt so she could move nimbly about, her tiny high heels became knee high black boots so she could walk properly, she dashed off after him. After some time they made it to the manor, which was a battle ground, pirates swarmed all over the place, firing curses, and hexes, the defenders firing back when they had the chance, Jackson leaned into the wind and tore off to the left to a cliff, he pointed down and she looked over and saw a ruined tavern and a dock.
Jackson yelled over the screaming wind. "This used to be my home too, your Mayor took over and went after my mom, when she spurned him he killed her and threw me kinto the sea."
Daphne blinked and looked confused. "I still don't believe you, fully." She said and turned back to the house. "But I think we need to have a chat with our mayor.
She tore towards the house, dodging hexes coming from the defenders, Jackson fired back, and finally they where inside. A man ran at Daphne and raised his wand, Jackson roared and leapt over her, yes over her, he swung his sword and sliced the man in half before he could finish his spell. A curse blazed past his ear and he whirled, but before he could do anything Daphne had already stunned the man. Together they made their way up to the top floor where they came upon the mayor. The pudgy man was sweating profusely,
"What oh, Daphne its you, why are you so wet?" he asked blinking up at her "My goodness child what happened to your dress- what, no, not you, I killed you, you should be dead!" he had noticed Jackson.
Jackson stalked over to the man and grabbed him by the collar, lifted him up, and slammed him into the wall. "I want you to admit what you did to me, and countless others."
"I- I don't know what your talking about." The mayor said
Jackson put the point of his sword against the mans throat. "Bullshit, now admit it or I will make this..unpleasant." he threatened
The mayor looked into Jacksons eyes, then over to Daphne and back again.
"Alright alright, yes I killed your mom, and any who wouldn't accept my hospitality. All of them, dead and burned." As he finished his sentence Daphne grabbed the sword out of Jacksons hand and plunged it into the wall next to the man. "Does that include my parents?" She said coldly.
The mayor nodded, and she screamed and drew back the sword and drove it onto his face, pulled back, and slammed the blade back home. She released the hilt and dropped to her knees sobbing. Jackson pulled out his sword and cleaned it, then grabbed the body, walked over to the window, and hurled the body out into the storm, immediately the storm ceased and there was cheering outside. Jackson came back over and put his hand on Daphne's shoulder and stayed with her till she had calmed down.
"I guess I always guessed, but I didn't want to know, he was so nice after their, well I guess murder now."
"I know, I know. We are shipping out soon, if you wanted to come with." He said "Won't be an easy life, what with wizards and muggles hunting us constantly."
She considered for a while and nodded, wiping her eyes. "I suppose I don't have anything here anymore."
The pair of them left the house, and in the harbor she saw a ship, it was old, and looked ancient. The sails were tattered and it was definitely a galleon, like the ones from the Golden age of Piracy.
"Is that your ship?" she asked as they headed down the harbor, the inhabitants were still hiding in their houses, as they assumed the eye of the hurricane was upon them, and it certainly looked that way, but the way the storm ceases like that, it was too much of a coincidence, Daphne knew it was magic. J
Jackson nodded "Aye that is her, the Flying Dutchman."
Daphne blanched. "You mean like the legendary ghost ship?"
Jackson grinned. "Not a ghost ship, Davy was just a wizard, and very old one now I'd say, I'm his current first mate, Jackson Blake, at your service."
He said bowing. "Now hurry up, or they will leave without us, the wizarding navy wasn't far behind us so we need to get out of here." He said tearing down the road. Daphne grinned and shrugged. She paused for a moment then followed him.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The compartment was silent until Ron said " So your telling me you are a wanted pirate?"
"Yes" said Jackson "Daphne and I are both wanted, but we smoothed things over with your headmaster."
"How did you manage that?" asked Ron.
"Uh….. well, we told him that we would only attack and steal from a certain Dark Lord." Jackson said, "Oh and call me Jax. Everyone does."
Harry glanced outside and noticed how dark it was.
"We should probably get our robes on" he said.
As the five of them stood up Jackson said "Please don't tell anyone that"
"We promise" they all said and got dressed.
"What about you guys you should get dressed?" asked Ginny
"We have never worn the robes actually. we can't afford them, so we just wear these" said Daphne gesturing at their clothes. Jax stood up and pulled his arms out of the sleeves in his coat, and let it hang off his back. His chest was bare and covered by scars, and he had a tattoo of a raven sitting on a skull cawing with its wings up on his upper chest. And he was wearing a necklace with a silver skull on it, with smaller silver rings hanging next to them on the same loop.
"Oh, how if your pirates? " said Harry
Jackson grinned, and Harry could have sworn he had a black canine. "We don't carry around our booty with us mate, what do you take us for? Morons?"
Harry blinked, was it his imagination, or did the raven on Jax's chest move?
Harry laughed and shrugged. "Fair enough."
They all got off together when they reached Hogwarts and got into the same carriage.
