Meet and Greet

"Dang we're late!" "Maybe they'll excuse us." Sonia was the first out of the car, Manic second and me last. I close the door. "Have a good day kids, I better not get a call on the first day!" "No promises!" Manic said, mom rolled her eyes as she drove away but I saw her smile in the mirror. I turn to the school, Manic took his sunglasses out and slipped them on. "Let's do this." "Manic, just because you're wearing sunglasses doesn't make you look cool." "I don't know Sonia, I can't see the ugly in you anymore." "Shut up!" Sonia hit him upside the head, the sunglasses falling to the ground.
"Oww." "Stop it guys, act like adults." "That's easy for you to say Mr. I'm-a-big-kid-now." Sonia said. "What's that supposed to mean?" "Just because you turned 17 this year doesn't mean you can boss us around." Manic got back up, standing straight. "Oh I know I can't, but wait until I tell mom later about your grades last year." Manic's face turns white, he starts to walk faster until he comes up to me. "You said you wouldn't talk about health class." "Who said I would? That's for later." I let it go there, opening the door ahead for Manic and Sonia, with Manic still looking ahead a little nervously while Sonia checked her hair in her mini pocket mirror.
"Hi welcome to Ring high, what's your name?" "Um before that, where do the sophomores go?" Manic said, the guy pointed behind him. "Up stairs to the right." "Thanks! See you later Sonic." "Bye bro." Sonia and Manic go around the table and up the stairs. The guy at the table looks at me funny. "You're Sonic, the Sonic the hedgehog, fastest thing alive?!" I start to laugh, knowing what's coming up next I cough a little. "Yeah, what about me?" The guy starts laughing, I get ready for the comments coming up.
"Wow, first I see Dark Ultium and now I see Sonic? This is like, the best day of my life!" My heart stops, I look at the guy. "Who?" "Oh, Dark Ultium came in here just a few minutes ago, so did his brother I heard. But yeah I saw him." "What class is he in?" "I don't know, he's a sophomore so I don't deal with that sort of field." I sigh. "It's all good, can I have my schedule still?" "Oh sure, sorry about that." The guy went through the pile until he gave me my schedule. "Thanks." "Have a great first day."
[Lunch time]
Lunch time came around and I found myself sitting next to Sonia and Manic, we were talking about how the first four periods were. "I got math as my first period!" Manic whined. "Good for you, I got Language Arts." Sonia hit her head on the table. "What's so bad about that? Isn't it easy?" I ask. "You say that, but do you know what connotative and denotative mean?" "Yeah?" Sonia stared at me then looked back at her food. "Well I don't!" "Guys I can help you with anything, you know you can always count on me." "Really?!" Manic smiled from ear to ear, then got out a folder with math written on the front with edgy writing. "Well I need your help with-"
"Oh my god is that Dark Ultium?!" I immediately turn around, in the far right corner I see the famous track runner, who's one spot ahead of me in the track records. "Oh, Dark Ultium, isn't that the guy you lost to two years ago Sonic?" Sonia said after she drank her milk and burped. "Great of you to put some salt on an old wound sis…" "No problem, glad I could help." "Okay, okay, he's a big shot and all- but what about this home work?" "Later." I say getting up, Manic yelling at me to come back { Please, help me!} I walk past the crowd surrounding the guy until I'm one person behind him.
"Excuse me, can I talk to him?" I tap the guy in front of me on the back, he turns toward me then back to the front. I thought he ignored me at first, but I see him tapping Dark's back until he turns around and points to me. He looks at me for a moment until he starts smiling. "Hey! You're Sonic right?" "Yeah, you're Dark right?" "Of course! I heard a rumor you were coming to this school, but I thought it was a lie. Guess I was wrong." Dark started laughing, I laughed a little too. "Yeah, so Dark how have-" "Wait, let's not talk over here." Dark said, waving his arms around to emphasis the people around us and the lunch line. "Let's talk when we get lunch." "Alright, meet you at my table." "Okay."
Dark came out of the line with a plate full of food, he looked around until he saw me and immediately ran over. "Hey, thank god I'm out of that line." Dark stopped at the table, fixing his shirt. " I'm so hungry I could eat my shoes man!" Dark sat down, someone sat down next to him, the guy I was behind in the line. "Hey dude, this is our table." "Oh no he's good!" Dark patted the seat next to him and the guy sat down. "You know him?" "Yeah, this is my brother! Shadow you know who Sonic is right?" "Of course, Sonic the hedgehog, he's in the same grade as you and you beat him in the nationals two years ago."
"Shadow, come on that was way back, it's not that important anymore." "Says the guy who started that same year, AND Sonic was running two years earlier before you." Sonia said, drinking her milk and burping again. "Thanks again Sonia." "I'll be here all week." I sighed. "Anyways, nice to meet you, I wish we could've met on the track again." "It's good, I've been meaning to meet you anyway." "Really, what for?" Dark looked at me, and I saw something sparkle in his eyes before he smiled and got up to stand on the table, pointing at me.
"I challenge you to a race!"
