Every Rose Has Its Thorns
Chapter One
Welcome Home!
My body was stressed and cramped from the extremely long flight and I was extatic upon learning we would be landing soon.
Soon, I would see my mother and brother waiting for me at the airport gates. I could finally be with them again, like I'd dreamed of so many long and reckless nights. Australia really just wasn't the same without them.
They both meant a lot to me, and I doubt I could have gone much longer without them.
My mother was a beautiful woman. From what I remembered she was always smiling and happy. Her long black hair had always had a shine to it I'd envied since I was old enough to notice such things, Her dark violet coloured eyes had always had that tinge of happiness to them, that always made me smile whenever I looked into them. I remembered her on stormy nights, when he would either still be at the bar or passed out somewhere inside the house, she would sing back to sleep, with the voice of an angel, rocking me back and forth gently after I'd had a nightmare, or a bad dream that her and him had been yelling and screaming at eachother and then I would hear strange noises coming from mother as she cried and screamed some more while he would be groaning and moaning in his own selfish pleasure. Of course it wasn't until later in my life that I had realised those bad dreams weren't really dreams at all, and I figured out the hormonal ways of a teenager the hard way, when I found out what had been going on all those years ago.
Needless to say ever since I figured that out, if it weren't for his ruthless beatings after mother had left, and all the women he bought home and locked me in my room, starving me for up to a week once, with that information combined, I never, ever trusted a man with my heart, I tried to avoid contact with the male species as much as I could really. But that was proving harder and harder apparently.
At some point I had vowed that I would even hate my own brother next time I saw him, but I think that may prove to be a challenge. I knew I loved my brother, and I knew he would never let anything or anyone hurt me in even the smallest way. That's big brothers for you though.
Once the plane landed I stood up and stretched my legs out.
"Sweet sweet freedom!" I chuckled to myself walking down the hallway to collect my suitcase.
Once I spotted and grabbed my small suitcase I rolled it over to get security checked and everything. I had only packed light because I knew, come tomorrow, my mum would be taking me shopping for a whole new wardrobe. That's right, I hadn't seen my mother in three years, but I still knew exactly who she was. And if she's changed... Well then I think I might just have to cry.
When I walked out of the gates and looked around, I didn't see anybody at first. I started to chew on my lip, something I had always done when I got anxious, and looked around the sea of people, trying to spot anything that would lead me to the open arms of my mother.
I guess I wasn't all too prepared when a weight was thrown on top of me and I fell to the ground with a high pitched squeel. I could feel something rubbing itself against my cheek roughly over, and over again and a voice saying they were so happy to see me. I blinked to myself and pushed the figure back lightly.
I took in the boys appearance.
Black shaggy hair that fell into his dark forrest green eyes that seemed to sparkle with joy. His mouth was spread into a large grin, so his pearly white teeth were showing. He looked down at me and his eyes got a mischivous gleam to them.
"What? Don't recognise your own brother?" He teased. His voice was deep and laced with a sort of playfulness I could never forget in my entire life. I matched his smile with my own, my red lips curling in delight.
"Dai!" I screeched, latching onto his neck and holding him closer. He laughed and picked me up with ease.
FLASH
I blinked and looked over my shoulder, there stood my mother, exactly as I remembered her, standing tall and smiling with a camera in hand, looking suspiciously guilty.
"Welcome home sweety!" She beamed at me.
"Mummy!" I let go of my brother and flung myself into my mothers arms. I nuzzled my face into her neck, inhaling her scent. Manderines and peaches. It was a smell I had never forgotten, and never planned to.
"Let's get home then shall we? I know a certain cousin of yours that's anxious to see you." My mother told me in a sing song voice. The smile never once left my face on the way home. Home. Yes, I was finally well and truelly home. And I had a feeling I was going to like it here alot.
I pushed some of my bright red hair behind me ear as we pulled up to a huge mansion. My emerald green eyes shined with excitment. Sure, I was expecting big, but not this big!
"Wow." Was all that would come out of my mouth as we came to a stop outside the door. Dai just laughed at me as I gawked up at the house.
On the steps leading up to the door I saw a tall blonde boy, bouncing eagerly on his heels, with a smile that could make girls faint. I would have, but it would just be plain weird if I did.
To say I swung the door open in a haste would be an understatement. The poor peice of metal was almost detatched from its body of metal in my hurry to flee from the car.
"Marki!" I squeeled as i jumped onto the boy. He swung me around in circles, laughing with me.
"Tai! How are you?" He gushed at me, holding me out at arms length once my feet were back on the ground.
"I have honestly never been better!" I told him.
"It's alright sis! I'll get your bags for you seeing as I'm that nice of a guy!" Dai called over at us. I grinned sheepishly.
"Thanks bro! You're a gem!"I told him, turning back to Tamaki, only to find something brown and fuzzy being shoved into my face. I took ahold of the object. It was a teddy bear. It was about the size of my forearm in height. It was just a plain light brown, nothing special about it, except the incredibly soft fuzziness of it.
"I got it for you for a welcome home gift!" He confessed, smiling, "Do you like it?" he interrogated.
"I love it! Thankyou Marki!" I screeched hugging him again.
"Bitch." Dai 'coughed' as he walked past and into the house. I rolled my eyes at him.
"How tired are you?" Tamaki asked. I shurgged my shoulders.
"Not very, I slept on the plane. How come?"
"Me and my friends are going to a water park this afternoon, and you're coming." He stated. He grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards the limosine that had just pulled up, "I'm stealing your precious daughter for the afternoon aunty!" Tamaki yelled to mother who laughed and nodded, telling him to bring me back in one peice.
Before I could protest I was shoved into the long shiny black car with my overly hyper cousin after me and the door slamming shut as we took off.
"So where are we going?" I asked him. He beamed that faint-worthy smile at me.
"To a tropical paradise!" He shouted. I blinked at him and decided it was best not to ask questions. I spaced out while Marki was going on about something, as I watched the scenary go by. We passed some beautiful houses, all the fronts were done up with amazing gardens and fountains. It was so different than back in Australia. This was real high class.
I suddenly got nervous. There was doubts in my head that I would fit in here. I wasn't into the classiest environment, and like my hair suggested, I had one hell of a temper at times. And for some reason I don't think the kids around here would like that very much.
When we stopped I looked over at Tamaki with a confused expression. Outside of the window were two boys who looked exactly alike. I'd always wanted to meet identical twins. They each had an arm around a girl who was in the middle of them looking just as confused as I felt.
"Hm? Who's that boss?" They both asked. I wide smile cracked onto my lips.
"OMG! TWINS!" I squeeled. I climbed onto Tamaki's lap and stuck my head out the window, "Hi! I'm Taiya!" I introduced myself. The twins smiled back at me while the girl just stood there blinking at me in what seemed like shock.
"I'm Kaoru." The one one on the left said.
"And I'm Hikaru." The other one said.
"And we're the Hitachiin brothers!" I raised an eyebrow.
"I guessed. And you are?" I asked the girl.
"Haruhi." She said smiling a little.
"Nice 'ta meet cha's!" I grinned out at them. I felt hands on my waiste and blinked as Tamaki lifted me off him and placed me beside him.
"We'll meet you there." He told them, winding the window back up as the limo once again sped away.
"I've completed my life long goal of meeting identical twins!" I told him. He chuckled lightly and continued to tell an animated story about Haruhi. I think he's in love.
Note to self: ask him about that a bit later.
15 minutes later I found myself being forced out of the limo and dragged away by one of the twins, while the other was dragging Haruhi. Turns out their mum's a famous designer and they'd bought out her newest line of swin suits for Haruhi to choose from, which I now got to choose from aswell. My eyes lit up at the selection and I immediately began to look around.
"So Haruhi, how come you have to dress like a boy?" I called over to her as the twins maids, who alsp appeared to be identical twins, forced her into trying on a whole heap of swim suits. She went on to explain about how she was a comoner and didn't have much money and she'd smashed a vase that was worth 8 million yen at the least and some Kyoya guy was making her be apart of the host club and pose as a boy until she had paid off her debt to them.
"He sounds mean." I shuddered. Haruhi giggled lightly. It was a soft tinkling sound, it suited her quite nicely.
"He's not that horrible. Besides, as weird as it may sound, I actually like being in the host club." She confessed. I looked over at her quickly and smiled, going back to browsing.
I ended up finding a dark purple bikini that tied up around my neck with matching bottoms that had a tiny ruffle around the top. And it didn't clash horribly with my hair like most things did.
"Hey, what's that?" Haruhi asked pointing at my belly. I looked down and started playing with the bunny charm hanging from the metal rod in my belly button.
"It's my belly peircing." I smiled at her, "The playboy bunny." I couldn't but laugh at her face. It was a mixture of shock, horror and awe.
"Did it hurt?" She questioned. I shoock my head.
"Not a bit." I told her, "This one did though." I poked out my tongue to show her the happy face ball that was placed in there. I smiled as she stood there and went to go change.
Once I came out I saw my new brunette friend standing awkwardly in the middle of the room clad in a one piece swin suit it was a light pink with white straps that were almost invisible against her pale skin. There were two hot pink lines on both of her sides, the lining on the top part and on the bottom where there was a white skirt like bit on the bottom. She didn't look as flat chested as she normally did, which made me feel bad seeing as I was quite... Gifted I guess you would say, in the chest area. She also wore a swimming cap on her head that was the same light pink as the top with a hot pink bow tied around near the bottom.
All in all she looked very cute.
"Girl, we're gonna work on your tan soon ok?" I joked, she giggled that tinkling sweet giggle of hers as we headed out of the change rooms.
"Taiya-chan! Taiya-chan!" I heard a high pitched voice scream. It wasn't one that I recognised and I looked around before I felt a pulling on my hand. I looked down to see a boy, he looked about 10 and was staring at me with these big brown puppy dog eyes, I let my mouth hang open slightly, "You're Taiya-chan right?" He questioned me. I simply nodded as he beamed up at me, "Did you like your teddy? I helped Tama-chan pick it out!" He told me excitedly. I felt my mouth twitch slightly and I couldn't help my outburst.
"SO CUTE!" I squeeled and scooped the boy up into my arms, squeezing him tightly. The boy giggled as I spun him around.
"TAIYA JAYNE SUOH YOU PUT SOME CLOTHES ON THIS INSTANT!" I heard Tamaki's shrill voice shreik at me. I turned around to glare at him and almost lost my footing.
Why you ask?
Because there, 5 feet infront of me, stood the single most hottest guy, I had ever seen. And what could ake that better? He didn't have a shirt on.
He was tall, really tall. I felt short standing next to Tamaki, me only coming about and inch or two taller than Haruhi, so this guy made me feel like a mouse next to a girrafe. His hair was pitch black and hiis eyes were half closed, I couldn't tell if he was tired or just bored. His chest was nicely toned and I couldn't help but sway a little when he said hello. His was deep, and enchanting, something I wouldn't be getting out of my head for a while.
"Are you alright Tai-chan?" The small blonde boy asked. I smiled goofily at him and nodded.
"I'm fine sweetie." I told him. The small boy went bright red and ran over to the tall, dark and handsome boy giggling like there was no tomorrow.
"She called me sweetie Takashi!" He cooed to the taller boy.
Takashi. I'll remember that.
"TAIYA! CLOTHES!" Tamaki screeched once again, snapping me out of my day dream.
I glared at my older cousin feircly.
"SHUT UP TAMAKI!" I yelled at him. Which then caused him to do his whole 'emo in a corner' as I liked to put it. It didn't work on me when we were kids. And its not gunna work on me now.
