A/N: A Portrait of Greg Arkin, written for the 100 Poems Challenge at the Poetry Craze Forum.
002. Metamorphosis; A Gift for Lana
The butterfly's wings are paper thin
against Greg's rough fingers,
soft fibers threatening to rupture
at even the gentlest awry touch.
He learns not to hold them,
not to let his oil weigh them down.
Learns to capture them with artificial hands
and watch them from afar.
His hands are dirty,
stained with the despair of
a love just beyond his grasp,
a love blurred with obsession
he couldn't touch.
