Sorry it took a couple days to get the next chapter up. Today, I fell on ice and my back and my head hurt but you know. I'm pushing through the pain to get this chapter up.
Quick question. Do any of you read the shadowhunters chronicles by Cassandra Clare. If so, I have multi chapter idea based on a couple Livia Blackthorn and Max Lightwood that I will probably begin working on soon. If you've read the books... I have to write that story because I have never been so devastated by the outcome of a book except for when ANUBIS and WALT became the same person.
Sadie's POV
I walk down the sidewalk. I was wearing some black shorts, a white V-neck tank top, my black leather jacket, and a pair of combat boots. I was holding hands with my boyfriend Nathan. We've been dating for a little under a year. Nathan had brown hair and dark eyes. His arms and neck were covered in tattoos. Nathan is nineteen years old and his father is the leader of a gang in Brooklyn.
"So, you're going back to school in a couple of days," Nathan says.
"Yes," I say.
"I still think you should drop out," Nathan says. "Spend more time with me and less time learning something that you'll never need to know ever again."
"Nate, we've been through this. My dad would never let me drop out even if I wanted to. He already doesn't like you. We would just be making it worse." I tell him.
"I dropped out when I was a junior like you're going to be, I turned out fine." He tells me.
"Because your dad is a gang member leader," I say. "He trying to make sure he has you to take his place one day."
"You can be beside me," Nate says. "Be my queen."
"I'm not your queen Nate!" I say. "This is not a serious relationship. I don't see myself with you in the future!"
"If you're not serious about this relationship then I'm done!" Nate yells at me. We were walking the streets of Brooklyn. A few people look over that were walking by. "Find your own way home."
"Nate are you kidding me?" I ask. "I live an hour away you asshole!" He ignored me and continued walking away. I rolled my eyes. 'Guess that relationship is over,' I say to myself. I wasn't that upset about it because I didn't really love him. Sure, I had feelings for him, but there wasn't much of a connection. I pulled out my phone and decided to call one of my friends. I called a few people and they didn't answer. I called Jaz, Liz, Emma, Alyssa, and Cleo. Some of them were either busy or didn't answer their phone.
I picked up my phone again and called someone else. Walt Stone. I hoped that Carter wasn't with Walt when I called him. Walt and Carter are best friends. Walt has been around for about ten years now. He's like my second brother. Walt is a part of all the sports teams so he was good friends with Horus.
"Hey Sadie," He answers.
"Hey Walt," I say. "What are you doing?"
"I'm hanging out with Carter," He says. "Why?"
Great. Now he'll know. "I need a ride," I say.
"Okay," He says. "I can give you a ride. Where are you?"
"Brooklyn," I answer.
"What the hell are you doing in Brooklyn?" He says.
"Brooklyn!" Carter says in the background.
"I was out with Nate," I say. "He left me in the streets. Can you two idiots just come get me?"
"On our way," Walt says. I could hear movement in the background. "Where should we meet you?"
"Um," I look around. I see a little coffee shop. "I'll text you the address."
"Okay," Walt says. "Bye."
"Bye," I say.
I walked over to the coffee shop and walked up to the counter. I got the address from the worker and I texted it to Walt. I ordered a caramel latte and sat at a table and waited. I crossed my leg over my other leg and looked out the window. I saw a Camaro park in a spot across the street. I see Horus Anderson step out of it with his sunglasses on. I saw another boy with black hair, a leather jacket, jeans, and a white shirt get out of the passenger side. He also wore sunglasses. They both walked into the restaurant in front of where the car was parked. Horus Anderson is the captain of the football team at Rosewood. I was not sure if I knew the guy that walked with him. One of his friend's I figured, though he didn't look like one of his friends because he didn't have Rosewood High sports jacket like most of them always wear. I turn my attention away. I prepared myself for dealing with Carter when they got here.
I look up and see Walt walk into the coffee shop. He sees me and smiles. I get up and walk towards him. "Thanks Walt," I say.
"No problem," He says. We walk out of the shop and towards his car. I get in.
"Walt!" A voice calls. I look over and see Horus. The guy with Horus gets into his car.
"Hey man," Walt says turning to talk to him. They talk and I turn my attention to Carter.
"Hey Carter," I say.
"What happened?" He asks.
"Nate wanted me to drop out of school and be his queen," I say. "I told him I didn't want to be anyone's queen, that our relationship wasn't serious, and that I didn't see myself with him in the future. He decided to end things and leave me in the streets of Brooklyn."
"Why did you even date him?" Carter asks. "I told you he's not good for you."
"I did it to make you and dad mad," I say. "I don't want you guys to choose who I can or cannot date."
"We're just trying to make sure your safe and you don't get hurt." Carter says.
"I can take care of myself," I say.
"You were all the way in Brooklyn. If Walt was busy what were you going to do?" He asks.
"I don't really know," I say. "I called literally anyone else first. Everyone else was busy or didn't answer their phones. I guess I could have gotten a ride with Horus since he's right over there."
"You didn't want me to know did you?" He asks.
"No," I say. "You and Walt were my last option. It was either you two or dad."
"Or uncle Amos," He says.
"Yeah," I say. "If I told him dad would find out because they work at the same place."
Julius and Amos Kane. My father and my uncle. They are both really good lawyers in the Brooklyn area. They run a small law firm but they are always getting cases. My dad built the firm a little after my mom died. She died in a car accident killing her and almost killing Carter. My dad and uncle were already lawyers but they hadn't been working together. We were living in L.A. before she died. After, we had her body buried at the cemetery in Brooklyn and we moved to Rosewood to be closer to Amos and his family. When I say close, I mean close. Amos and his wife, Tatiana live next door to us with their two children. Maya and Matthew the twins.
"You could have called Maya or Matt," Carter says. "One of them would have come to get you."
"I tried to call Maya," I say. "She didn't answer. You know, from how many people didn't answer, they are so lucky I wasn't running for my life."
"Well your safe," Carter says. "That's all that matters."
Walt gets in the car. "Sorry about that." He says.
"Who's the guy with Horus?" I ask.
"His cousin," He says. "Apparently he's starting his senior year at Rosewood."
"I didn't know Horus had a cousin," I say.
"Neither did I," Walt says. "I didn't get his name though."
"What did Horus want?" I ask.
"There's a party tomorrow to celebrate the beginning of the school year on Monday," Walt says. "We were all invited."
"Great!" I say. "I'm in."
"I'm out," Carter says. "I don't like parties."
"Well, guess it's just me and you Walt." I say.
"You shouldn't be going Sadie," Carter says.
"Relax Carter," I say. "It's just a party."
"There's no way dad will let you go," Carter says.
"What dad doesn't know won't kill him," I tell Carter.
"I'm not going to help you with this," Carter says. "I hope you know that."
"I got it all under control. I feel like a sleep over with some of my friends is a good way to end summer break." I say.
"I feel like we should be concerned that Sadie is way to good at coming up with excuses," Walt says. He had been silence for two reasons. A. He knows not to get into a Carter and Sadie debate. B. He had been focused on driving.
"If both of you are going to the party, Walt, can you at least watch Sadie so she doesn't do something stupid like get drunk." Carter says.
"He has no hope that I would do the right thing," I tell Walt.
"I'll make sure nothing happens to her," Walt says. "I promise."
"Thank you, Walt," I say as Carter and I get out of the car.
"No problem," He says. "See you guys later."
We watch Walt drive away. I walk over to Amos's house. I knew my dad and Amos were not home. Tatiana was probably at work. I knew the twins were home. Carter followed me. I knocked on the door then opened it. Maia sat on the couch. "Hey Sadie, Carter," She says.
Maia had almond colored skin, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. Her hair was French braided into pigtails. She wore a white lose t-shirt crop top and some black shorts. I hear footsteps and see Matthew. Matthew was basically the male version of Maia. Matt had shortly cut hair and he wore some basketball shorts and a tank top. The twins are the same age as me, sixteen. "Hey guys!" He says.
If our whole family was together, people would be surprised to see me with them. I was the only one who looked different because I looked like my mother. In Rosewood, no one asked questions. Since it was a small town, they all knew the Kane and knew what happened to my mother.
"How was your date with Nathan?" Maia asks.
"He left her on the streets of Brooklyn," Carter says before I could say anything.
"I hope you broke up with him," Maia says.
"I think it was mutual break up," I say.
Carter and I both joined Matt and Maia on the couch. The four of us sat there and watched the TV. At least until Uncle Amos came home and told us to do something productive like help him put away the groceries.
Hope you enjoy this chapter. I hope you like that Amos has a family for once. If you think Nathan is a jerk, he is. He'll return. Need that drama in our lives, don't we? The answer is yes, yes we do.
