The first sign she noticed was the feeling of something stirring in her stomach. It didn't feel like the butterflies you felt when nervous or the fire igniting when aroused. It felt real, like there is something inside which moved. She brought her hand to her stomach, feeling the taut skin below. As she looked at the ceiling of her room, she wondered.
Could it be? Is it even a possibility?
That night, when she laid bare, panting in Kazuma's arm she took his hand to her stomach and asked her shinki and current lover," what do you feel?"
"Veena?" he whispered back in question, caressing her stomach.
"I felt something moved inside me today," she answered him absent-mindedly.
She didn't need to watch Kazuma's face to know that his eyes widen in surprise and disbelieve.
"You don't think…." Kazuma's words faded as he himself couldn't voice the possibility. It was so absurd. So impossible that to even consider such thing happened to them was stupid and ridiculous. But, he knew Veena must have a strong reason to think and voice such thought.
She laid her head in kazuma's shoulder and sighed,"I don't know,"
There was a painful silence for a minute or two before kazuma asked,"what should we do?" he moved to his side, trying to look into her eyes. But, she refused, she closed her eyes and dreamed it all away. But kazuma's presence, his breath, his eyes, his warm skin, demanded her attention so strongly she couldn't ignore him no matter how much she wanted to. So, instead of answering his question or meeting his eyes, she cowardly kissed him. Roughly, passionately, to whisk all the question away from their mind. However, a few second later, Kazuma held her arms strongly, and pushed her farther away, just a bit. He needed an answer.
Veena looked at his eyes finally and said,"we know when we face it, right now everything is so uncertain,"
They looked at each other, she pleaded with her eyes to forget their problem, at least for now,"Kazuma…" she whimpered," please…"
Something softening in kazuma's eyes, his brow creased."I'm sorry, Veena" he said, so soft, so genuine before kissing her lips, so very gently. And for that night, they forget, again.
