The next day I woke up, got dressed and went to the lake. The kingdom was asleep, seeing as it was dawn. As I arrived, I slowly changed behind the old oak tree. I changed into my nightgown and dipped my feet in the water. I knew I was risking it all. As I had said, don't come near me.
I was basically asking him to come here. But I couldn't shake the feeling when I saw him. I'm not saying I felt love. Gods no. Just, I need to see him. No matter if it took hours, I needed to talk to him.
Memory's flooded back to me.
I stood behind my mother, clutching the back of her gown. We walked through the ball room. Its domed ceilings painted with portraits of Zeus himself. Leaving room for a few scattered windows looking out on the starry night sky. I stopped and looked up at the domed ceiling. I let go of my mother's dress, in a daze at the detail. I was 7 sure, but I was more than responsible. I snapped out of my daze and looked around the crowded ball room. Oh no. I franticly searched for some sign of my mom.
I took off, running and pushing past people. My eyes teared up. I was lost. I would never be found again. That's it. This is my fate. I had to accept it. I stopped running and wiped away any sign of tears and caught a glimpse of a gray dress.
Hope. I ran and clutched onto my mom's dress.
"Annabeth!", she spoke. "You're holding onto me like you're about to die!" She laughed a bit and turned around to look at me. I gave her a smile and giggled. I then saw a raven-haired boy behind Athena. He looked my age. Wearing a dark blue suit, but his hair was messy.
"Mama! Look! There is another kid here!", I said, pointing to the boy behind her. I ran past her, up to boy. It was weird, I was never very 'social'. But every other kid here was older. "Hi!" I said looking at him.
He was surprised, but then said "Hello!" I smiled, "I'm Annabeth! What's your name?"
"I'm Percy!"
"Annabeth! Young lady, get back here now!", my mother's voice yelled behind me. She put her hands on my shoulders, giving me the stink eye. "Perseus Jackson!", a voice boomed from behind Percy. I looked up at my mother, a scowl on her face, "Poseidon.", she said coldly. I turned my attention to who I assumed would be Poseidon. A smile danced on his face. "Come, Annabeth. Let's go to the buffet table." "What's the big rush Athena? ", Poseidon said looking at my mother. His head then turned to me. "Oh. I almost forgot about little Annabeth. And how you invited every ruler except me to her 2-birthday party." I looked at Percy before my mother turned me around and lead me to the buffet table.

I couldn't fall asleep.
Those gray eyes burned into my mind. When I closed my eyes all I saw were hers. I needed to cool down. So. I would go to the lake. I carefully made my way through the quiet halls and out into the town. It was roughly dawn, so everyone was asleep. I ran through the town and into the woods where I knew the lake would be waiting.
As I arrived there I noticed someone sitting on the edge, their feet in the water. I realized it was Annabeth. Questions burned into me.
Why was she here?
Who was she waiting for?
What was she waiting for?
When did she get here?
She looked like she was in a dream. Her curly princess-blonde hair falling softly onto her shoulders. She was wearing a simple light-blue nightgown. Her eyes were closed. I stood there for a second, she suddenly looked around and her eyes landed on me.
She stood up and looked at me. "Scared?", she spoke, her voice was soft. I swallowed then said "No." I stepped out from behind the plants.
"I remember."
"What?", I asked her.
"The night we met. The ball room."
"Oh", I said stupidly.
"I'm sorry I said what I said yesterday but, you do relies that our parents hate each other."
"That doesn't mean we have to." I looked at her curious eyes.
"...I need to talk you." She sounded serious.
"Ok"
"I-I. I think, well. I think that we should- at least – get to know each other. It was wrong of me to judge you so fast. I'm sorry."
"..."
"Well? Do you except my apology?"
"I do. But, your mom would freak out if she finds out. She hates my father and me."
"I know but. You know what it's like to kept away, from everyone. Right?"
I didn't. My father and mother were always good and let me be 'free'. But I didn't know what Annabeth's family was like. I'm guessing she was 'locked' away.
"Look.", I said. "If we're going to be friends-"
"Friends?" She laughed. "I never said we were going to be friends."
My face suddenly felt hot.
"Let me get this straight. I am sorry for judging you. I never said we were going to be friends. Period. Know, because I have duty's I must fulfill, I'll see you when the sky darkens. I'm want to know more about you Percy Jackson. Goodbye." She turned around and went behind the old oak tree, she came out seconds later holding a gray dress. Sunrise was coming, the last I saw of Annabeth was her giving me a small smile before disappearing.
