After having Annie admitted to the hospital, Adrian sat across the girl in a nearby motel room.

"OK, I want you to tell me everything, starting with who you are and who are these guys and what do they want from you." Adrian said, glaring.

"I don't know." The girl denied.

"Kid, I have experience from District Attorney's office. Trust me, I smell bullshit from miles away." Adrian said, almost laughing at her attempt to lie. "Let's try it again. Who are you?"

The girl sighed. "Mia. Mia Dearden."

"John King's daughter?" Adrian realized, remembering her from the newspapers. "Aren't you supposed to be with…"

"They're dead." Mia sniffed.

Adrian looked at her in sympathy. "I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?"

"Their plane crashed." Mia said sadly. "I've been on my own for a while now."

"No relatives? No friends? Just running down the state?" Adrian questioned.

"Am I under arrest?" Mia sneered. "Because if not, I'd appreciate if you let me go."

"Yeah and I'm pretty sure you can handle whatever creep is gonna come after you right after those from the bar, right?" Adrian scoffed and Mia paused. "Thought so. You want help and protection? Tell me everything."

Mia sighed. "Last year, when I was on a study trip to Russia, some bad people… a criminal group called the Basilisk tried to use me as a ransom."

"The Basilisk?" Adrian repeated, remembering that they were associated with Ricardo Diaz and were behind his family's death.

Mia nodded. "Few weeks ago, after one of their guys got killed by that Robin Hood dude in Starling, they came after us. They broke into my Dad's estate and…" She sighed, tears filling her eyes. "My Dad told me to run. Run and never look back. They killed everyone."

Adrian looked at her in sympathy. "I'm sorry."

"Since then, I've been on the run."

"And there's no one who you could turn to? Family? Relatives? Friends?" Adrian asked.

"Honestly, I've been on the run for too long to get a breather to reach out." Mia admitted.

In the hospital, Annie slowly came to as a man in suit was checking the flowers and "Wishing well" cards for her.

"Who are you?"

"A lot of people show care for you." The man said.

"Do I know you?" Annie asked.

"Love can help heal a lot." The man said, smiling before he saw a drawing. "Your son? Children are a blessing."

"What do you want?" Annie asked, realizing the man wasn't good news.

"I want you to think about everyone, who has sent these cards and flowers for you… everyone who apparently cares for your welfare… and tell me everything you know about the man, who saved you last night." The man said.

"Who are you?" Annie asked weakly.

"My name is Abbot." The man said. "And I'd like to find the man, who saved your life. He seemed… a very capable person."

"I already told the cops I know nothing about him." Annie denied. "Who are you? FBI?"

"A… private investigator. And I'm a man of faith. I believe everything has a reason. I believe you survived… so that you could be a good mother to your son… and so that you could help me…"

"Please, don't hurt my little boy." Annie begged.

"Nothing will happen to your son… if you give me a name. Who was he?"

"I don't know. We talked. We spent a night together and… you know how it goes. I swear to God."

"Are you certain?" Abbot said, narrowing his eyes. "Lying to God is a cardinal sin. A sin punishable very seriously. Before you say it for certain, think about your son… and think about whether he told you his name. Because once I leave this room… what happens next is on you. Do you understand?"

Annie's tears were getting wet. "Adrian. He said his name was Adrian. That's all I know, I swear."

Abbot smiled as he got up. "I shall pray for your welfare. Thank you for your help."

"Adrian Chase. District Attorney from New York. Investigating the Basilisk supplying gangsters high-grade weapons, drugs etc." A man told Abbot as they were in a car. "Someone found out, instigated a gang war in Central Park to take Chase out, wife and son and daughter got caught in the crossfire. Last known case Chase was investigating after that was Aidan Holloway. A criminal, contractor etc. Holloway was found dead two months later with a bullet to his brain. After that, Chase moved to Starling and has been working as an Assistant District Attorney since then."

"Any known associates?"

"Jacob Kane. Former Colonel and currently private contractor with agencies such as A.R.G.U.S or CIA. Dinah Drake. FBI. David Drayson… currently in coma. A vigilante in Starling City smashed his face against a mirror and made it a bloody mess. The surgeons say that his scars look like a jigsaw puzzle."

"Hmm… there may be more to Chase than it seems." Abbot said. "Did you say "Drayson"?"

"The same guy, who Diaz paid to instigate the shootout in Central Park and killed his family." The man nodded. "Orders?"

"We don't leave loose ends… but for now, let's see what Chase is up to." Abbot said.

Starling City

"You're going to learn about pain… you're going to learn about loss… every morning… I look for them… but then I remember… and it's gonna be the same for you… whenever you look at your ugly mangled face, you're gonna remember what you did. You're gonna remember what you took away from me and you're gonna remember me!"

"Mr. Drayson. David." The psychiatrist Sarah Cassidy asked David Drayson, who was wearing a skull mask to cover the scars on his face. "Physically, you're recovering."

"I'm exercising. Push-ups, crunches, stuff like that. They won't let me use the gym, though." David shrugged.

"But you still cannot sleep?" Cassidy asked.

"We've talked about this like a hundred times." David snapped.

"You know why we do this." Cassidy insisted.

David sighed. "I see… the V letter… blood… breaking glass… always the same things."

"Feelings of dread? Anxiety, when you wake up?"

"You've already asked me these before, you know how am I gonna answer. This is pointless." David grumbled.

"It is not. The point is, one day, you will remember and you will answer differently." Cassidy said.

"It's all the same." David said. "But my head keeps hurting. My face hurts…"

"Do you remember what happened to your face?" Cassidy asked.

"Do you think we'd be talking, if I remembered?" David snapped.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Cassidy asked.

"Adrian… his family… we were all playing in Central Park… what does it matter?" David muttered.

Michigan

A policeman knocked on the hotel room door as Adrian had untied Mia. "Don't scream or try to run."

He opened the door as the policeman showed his badge. "Adrian Chase? Can we talk?"

In the Sheriff's Department, Adrian was cuffed as the sheriff showed him the footage from the bar. "For an attorney, you can handle yourself."

"A friend of mine is military. He taught me some moves." Adrian shrugged.

"Care to share how you got yourself involved into this? And how did you get yourself mixed up with the daughter of one of the richest men in the United States, who died few weeks back?" The sheriff asked.

"Well, I…" Adrian paused before the Sheriff's phone rang as he answered.

"Hello?"

"This is Special Agent Dinah Drake from Federal Bureau of Investigation. Do you have Adrian Chase in custody?" Dinah asked.

"Yes."

"Listen, whatever you're doing with him, stop it right now. I'm handling it from here. Keep him in custody and whatever happens, he is not going to leave your department until I arrive. I will be there by later tonight. And if you don't want your ass sent into Winnipeg, you're going to do exactly as I say. Are we clear?"

Sheriff sighed as Dinah listed numerous laws about custody before he wiped his face. "Understood." He hung up as he uncuffed Adrian and put him into a cell. "You're lucky. You're the Feds problem now. You're spending the night here."

Outside the department, Abbot was observing as a man with a rifle with an attached grenade launcher approached him.

"Should we…"

"No. Not yet. Let me handle it first." Abbot said.

Author's Note:

Yes, it is Mia Dearden from the first story, The Arrow's Path. It will all be explained later and Oliver and Team Arrow will appear somewhere down the line later.

The man Kyle Abbot is a villain from Batman comic books and let's just say he will be this story's John Pilgrim.

This story will have similarities to Punisher Season 2 and Daredevil TV series, so I hope you will enjoy it.

So, what do you guys think?

Please review and let me know if you have been enjoying this and want for me to continue.
