Here's the second chapter! I don't think this fic will be long, and I apologize for this chapter. I may or may not delete it and post another one. I guess you'll have to wait and see.
Some of you were angry, thinking that I thought that everything that's happening is only Walter's fault. I don't think that. I think that they both have communication issues that they need to work on, and I'll try to show it here. So please, read everything before jumping to conclusions, okay?
I don't own Scorpion - because if I did, the shocking turn of events would end up with a marriage proposal.
As the alarms beeps on her right, she considers her options this morning.
She left the garage the night before, saying that she needed some time. Even with his low EQ, she's sure that he understood the meaning behind her last words.
She needs some time from him. Not from her work, but from him. From everything that he makes her feel.
Paige is sure of two things. The first, is that she loves him with her whole heart. And the second is that she'll not be able to be left behind again. She won't survive it.
Because unlike her previous relationships, with Walter she felt as if she was finally enough. He made sure of that.
But now...
Now she knows that he found with Florence the one thing that she's not capable to do. She can understand what he's saying, she can communicate with him in a level that Paige will never be able to.
There's a voice in the back on her mind that keeps saying "but have you really tried?"
Now that she's calm she can admit that yes, she could have tried harder. For example, she invited her to the lecture that he was so eager to attend. And what did she do? She told Ralph that she didn't want to go. And he heard her.
He tried to spare her feelings by saying that the lecture had been cancelled.
So in reality, it's all her fault.
She shakes her head. It's not entirely her fault. When she tried to invite him to some things that she wanted to do, he made sure that she knew that he wasn't happy about it.
She takes her shower, still considering her options.
Almost every cell in her body tells her that she needs to break up with him. That they are too different, that Collins was right all along.
But her heart, her traitorous damn heart doesn't want that. The little voice keeps telling her that they need to try harder to make it work.
Florence may be able to understand his intellect, but she'll never be able to understand his heart. Not like Paige does.
Because Walter O'Brien is perfect for Paige Dineen, even if at the moment she's not sure of that.
She can hear Ralph in the kitchen. She smiles a little because her son, her beautiful, amazing son, always knows when she's not well.
As she arrives in the kitchen, she sees that the pancakes are burnt and the coffee is bitter, but she eats everything and it makes her heart grow two sizes.
"The carpool will be here shortly." He says, picking his backpack.
She nods and her eyes are full of tears because she raised the perfect child.
He runs to her and gives her a hug and the voice is back, telling her that if it wasn't for Walter, this little display of affection would never happen.
"I love you." He says in a quiet voice and she hugs him a little tighter.
He stops by the door and says, using the same quiet voice. "Walter loves you too. Even if he doesn't show it, sometimes."
He locks the door behind her and she's thankful that the tears waited until he's out of the door to fall.
