Unlonely
"Then, why are you friends with him?" Rio asks innocently as she pushes a stray strand behind her ears.
Rod shrugs. "Do I have to have a reason?"
She stares into his eyes – the same shade of blue as hers and yet so different in its intensity, almost ethereal. Always a question in her eyes. He wonders what the world looks like to her, to this girl with the eyes the color of the sky and sea combined.
He laughs, weak in its resignation.
"Maybe…" he whispers looking up to the empty heavens, "I needed someone to need me."
The End.
A/N: There! Exactly one hundred words! Heehee.
For this drabble, the idea came to me when I asked myself how can the two of them be friends? As I was thinking about Rod and Allen's friendship, the last sentence just fell on my lap/head. That last sentence definitely answered my question. So for now and forever, my head canon for them is such: though their personalities are oceans apart, they share one thing in common: they are essentially lonely people despite Rod's cheerful attitude.
If I hadn't stayed with the thematic "un-" titles, I think I would have named this 'Same Feather' as a pun for 'Birds of the same feather flock together'. But 'Unlonely' works just as fine.
Also, I'd like to thank Marie and LovelyNocturna for encouraging me to make this a separate story from TNU!
Hope you liked it! Leave a review please :D
